After watching Fantasmic at DHS we are planning on taking the bus back to PORS and taking the boat to DTD. Is this feasible? How long do you PORS experts think this will take?

are you going in Jan or Feb? Studios hours change like the MK - depending upon the crowds.

so need close to exact day - plus the park hours for that long are option to change.

looks like most of Jan and Feb hours are out - but Studios will probably close at 7 or 8 pm - so yea you will definitely have time to go to DD

The water taxi ride takes about 15 minutes, since it stops at POFQ first before heading to DTD.

The bus situation after Fantasmic is a whole other story. It totally depends on when you get to the bus stop, how crowded it is, the time of year, the day (are there EMH's?), etc.

You must want to experience the boat...I love the ride it is so relaxing, I am guessing it will take about 20 minutes with the stop off and FQ.

Not sure of the exact amount of time the boat takes, but the one time we stayed at POFQ the boat ride to and from DTD seemed much longer than I was expecting. It was a very nice, relaxing ride, but if your in a hurry it's really not a quick trip. However, taking the bus takes even longer! Unless you have your own car to drive there really is no quick way to DTD.

I would think with early hours in the parks at that time of year you should be able to take the boat there and back before the boats stop running. Just don't expect it to be a super quick trip. If you take the boat to DTD and the boats stop running before you are ready to return, you can always take a bus back to PO.

I am not sure, but if there is a bus from HS to DTD wouldn't that be easier?

They no longer have buses from DTD to the parks because, for obvious reasons, people parked there to avoid paying to park at the parks and the DTD patrons had no place to park.

I am so glad you said that; my mom and I took the water taxi every night and said how wonderful and relaxing it was - what a wonderful way to end the evening.

I love the post below yours said it took too long. They saw the glass half empty; we saw it half full.

LOL, I didn't say it took "too long", just that it took longer than I had expected. We actually really enjoyed the boat ride too, but if your in a hurry it's not a very quick way to get in and out. If you have to wait a while (10-15 minutes) for the boat to pick you up, which we sometimes did, it can take almost half an hour to get there or back once you include the actual ride.

I definitely didn't see the boat ride as the glass half empty!

I think you are going in January?
If so, I will warn you that they will stop boat service to/from DTD if it is very cold. This has happened to us though they did warn us ahead. So we were able to take the boat to DTD and as we rode in the boat, the capt. told us that they would be ending boat service due to cold and told us to take the bus back.

I will also say that in 8 trips, relying mostly on Disney transport, that wait for the bus at DTD was the longest wait for transportation we have ever had anywhere on property. I think it was an hour or more.

The few times we rode the boat,, they do stop running at a certain time, so just make sure when u go for dinner (that if depending on boat to go back), it will be running..

I think the boats stop running around 11 or 11:30. If you plan to hang out at DTD beyond that, you'll need to get back a different way.

Another maybe faster option would be to take the bus to SSR from DHS, and then walk to DTD. You won't get to experience the boat ride, but it would save you 25+ minutes that would include waiting for the boat, loading the boat, and riding the boat down to DTD.

The boat to POR/POFQ makes its last run from the DTD dock at 11 pm and they dock at the marina at POR for the night.

IMO, at the end of the day the SSR to DTD walk might not be appreciated by all. On our 2010 trip I took the clan to DTD and walked to the Turf Club at SSR.....and it was a bit of a walk....DW & DDs never let me forget how long that walk was.....but it looked like a quick trip on the map. :confused3
