Suggestions for a good steak/seafood restaurant

I'm looking for a moderate priced restaurant for one of our nights out...something with a great atmosphere, great food, but not super expensive. We have pretty classic tastes; DH likes steak, I love seafood but we're willing to try new flavors and cuisine - as long as it isn't spicy. I used the filter through OpenTable, but still came up with over 20 options for dining, so I figured I'd ask the Dis since you guys seem to know everything! ;)

We will have a car and are staying in the Universal area of I Drive. If we could walk, that would be great, but it's not necessary. I also have a AAA card, hoping to use that as well to save a few bucks :)

I second Town Tavern. During our winters in Florida we often take guests here and they love it...Onion rings are out of sight...blackened Mahi sandwich is great and then they have lots of other options...from Beans and Weenies and Meatloaf to flown in Seafood from New England...

FYI, is you not been to Celebration, take a 1/2 hour or so drive around and check out the homes...Most all set in the 1930s-40s with lots of porches, white picket fences, and no pink flamingos in the yards!!

Second choice would be Orlando Ale house on 192 2-3 miles west of Disney. You will wait and it is a sports bar atmosphere, but great food. Big names like Charley's, Ruth Crist, Landry's are OK, but lots of $$ and it is only steak!!

Enjoy!!

Bonefish Grill. I have had a fab meal every time I've been.

It's actually a chain but they don't have one by me and it doesn't feel like a chain.

Depending upon what you are looking for in seafood I will go a little out of the box and say Delmonico's Italian Steakhouse... I grew up in upstate NY and ate there at least once a month since I can remember... so glad when they opened an Orlando location since we don't go back to NY as often as we head to Orlando.

I will check these out - thank you for the response!

Has anyone eaten at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse? That looks to be within walking distance of our hotel. Other ones close by according to the hotel website are Ruth Chris, Morton's and Amura Japanese Steak House. Seafood places look to be Big Fin and Ocean Prime

I recommended Ponderosa steakhouse they are located all over Kissimmee and international drive and the price it's really cheap you get a huge steak great meat and chips or jacket potato drink plus a huge buffet to get stuff as you please for a max of $15-$20 per person they do it great and it really fills you up it's my favourite restaurant I love it it isn't five star luxury but it's great food and the staff are really friendly what more can you ask for :)

These places are in the Dr Phillips area of West Sand lake. I've been to Flemings and Big Fin. Sunday night is the 3 course prime rib special at Flemings for $30. Incredible, cut with fork, melt in your mouth, prime rib.

I got raw oysters and stone crab legs at Big fin that were scrumptous.

Bonefish Grill is also in that area.

You will certainly need a car to get to Flemings if you are staying on I-Drive. Also near Flemings are about another 25 or 30 nice restaurants. The area is called "Restaurant Row in Dr. Phillips". If you google that you'll see a large number of choices.

Someone mentioned Ale House. There is one nearer to where you are staying up by Millenia Mall. Pretty much every chain restaurant you can think of is located there.

Our favorite is Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. They have an early bird special and the food is awesome. There are several locations but we like the one on 192.

Hit up Bongo's Cuban Cafe at Downtown Disney. The $25 Skirt Steak is amazing, and they have numerous yummy-looking (that I've never tried because the skirt steak is so damn good) seafood dishes, ranging from $20-40.

Most dishes will come with fried plantains, white rice and black beans. We make sure to hit Bongo's at least once on every trip. Tonight was the night in fact. Care to guess what I ordered?

Another vote for Big Fin! :thumbsup2

Incredible selection of seafood but if you are flexible, I recommend going on Monday night. You can get an whole 1.5 lbs steamed Maine lobster for $13.95. Its by far the best deal in town. Get there early and if you have a concierge at your hotel, they usually have 10% off coupons for your entire bill.

ENJOY! :cool1:

I appreciate all the suggestions! Off to Google menus ;)

Do Google Maps, too. These suggested restaurants are scattered all around the area so you may want to tie in a visit to one or more of them with a theme park visit in the general area.

Bon appetit!

My DH and I went to that Flemmings on our honeymoon last year. It was also his birthday.

We had the BEST service and the food was SO GOOD. We loved everything about it. I would highly recommend it.

I went the other night and it was just okay and well over priced. I come from NE so maybe I have different expectations for a seafood restaurant.

Just a suggestion for future posting...

Price points!

It's pretty evident that moderate alone doesn't get you good guidance. On this thread we go from Ponderosa at $15 to Flemings, a place where i once saw a bottle of wine priced at $2,000 on the wine list.....

Good point! For me, moderate would be around $100 for dinner for two. Give or take a few bucks ;)
