Major Complaint!

Hi all,

I have what I think is a major complaint about the Disney Resorts. Now you all may think this complaint is minor but to me, this really bothers me.

Now I'm going to try and not toot my own horn, but I'm a Disney World addict. My visit there a couple weeks ago was my 21st overall. Every year when I go, we stay in a Walt Disney World Resort.

Besides the parks and sometimes including the parks, depending on how the day went, one of my favorite things to do is sit in my room and watch the Disney theme park commercials. Some of my favorites included the ones for Mickey's Philharmagic and Cirque Du Soleil La Nouba. Watching them always made me feel like I was home for some reason.

With all the excitement of seeing these commercials, I couldn't wait to see which Disney commercials would be shown this year. The first day I get there, I turn in the TV in anticipation. As I'm watching, what do I see? A commercial for the next UFC event. What???????? In my confusion, it suddenly dawns on me. Disney recently partnered with DirectTv and thus Disney is now showing DirectTv's commercials. MAJOR FAIL.

First of all, if I was a parent, I wouldn't want my kids seeing commercials for UFC or any of the other commercials they showed which included Joe Theisman talking about his prostate.

Second of all, one of Disney's biggest money makers is the Disney Vacation Club. In the past, I've seen commercials for the Vacation Club. Wouldn't you think Disney would want to keep those in order to try and sell arguably there most expensive product?

Am I the only one who's complaining about this or are there others? If anything, does anyone know where I can get these commercials from the past? I've tried Mousebits and YouTube with very minimal results. Thank you!

Honestly, I have no problem with Disney adding more tv channels to the resort tvs. If you see something on a channel that you do not like, just turn the channel. Unless your children never watch anything but the Disney Channel at home, I don't see the issue with non-Disney commercials. It is a business, not a bubble. :confused3

can I complain too??
I want the cartoons back on
you know the channel where they played the same ones over & over again?? it was great to watch before going to sleep & getting dressed in the mornings - we would leave it there the whole trip

This should be fun!!!! popcorn::

** EDIT - I enjoyed the cartoon channel too - I love the old disney cartoons, too bad they stopped that - but, in the evening, they DO have the story time and usually a movie. :)

Seems that OP asked the same question about the old commercials in April of 2011. I'm guessing the year and a half long search didn't yield any results.

Same here.. If there is something I don't like on TV, I change the channel, simple as that. No biggie.

I have no problems with the channels. You're right, if there's something on that I don't agree with, I'll change it. I just think from a marketing perspective, Disne would want to promote themselves as much as possible.

Honestly, on our last trip in May - I felt the entire TV was OVER saturated with Disney self promotion.......... just my opinion.

I always feel that way - that there were too many Disney channels - the parks, the cruises, DVC. I'm happy they added more channels even if they come with standard commercials (it's not like the regular channels they had before didn't have those same type of commercials - Viagra and all).

When I was there last year, One of the CM's was telling me in the lounge about the change in the TV channels, due to the demand of the guests that not enough variety was offered. It is always easier with more choices tyan you need because you always choose to turn it off.

So I agree, let them add more choices for us to enjoy or shut off the tv.

I hated those Cirque de Soleil commercials EVERY break, so I'm fine with outside world commercials. I always wondered if they were the commercials for inside the resorts, or if they were the local geographic area commercials, they were trying to get the locals to come for one or two events, rather than a vacation.

Last summer, all we could watch all day was Phineas and Ferb or the oldtimey TV channel, Good Life. We watched My Three Sons. Looking forward to more choices this time.

I was glad to see the addition of the new channels. On rainy days, it got old watching the same thing over and over.

Personally, I think there are too many park information channels and not enough regular channels.

Ok, I guess I'm in the minority on this one. Just to be clear. I'm not upset that they have more channels on WDW TV. I just miss the commercials promoting various WDW attractions.

I don't know about anyone else, but last thing I do when I'm at WDW is turn on the tv. :confused3

I love Stacey, but a little bit of Stacey goes a long way.
