Super Deluxe Mega Trip Reportinator! Now featuring 8/12 San Diego/Disneyland report!

That is one thing that makes it nice to visit the local fruit stands. Nothing is bagged up and I can pick out just exactly what I want. I am glad we live in a valley that has them.

You're really lucky. I love having farmer's markets here in the summer, but because I live in the city the cost is equal or more than the cost of crappy produce in the grocery stores. In my ideal life, I'd live in SoCal or somewhere that has fresh local produce year round. I hate not eating tomatoes all winter and spring, or only eating tomatoes from an aseptic carton.

I think I need to make those fried yellow heirloom tomatoes again soon, before they are unavailable in my area!!

We live in northern California, tomatoes are grown in our area. We have a yearly tomato festival even. There is nothing better than a vine ripened tomato.

I love animated emoticons. :hyper::yay:

So today I received a summons for jury duty... right in the middle of our trip! Guess that will have to be postponed!

And in other trip related news, Tinkerbell paid a visit to our house. See, she stops by when she knows we are coming to WDW or DLR, and she usually brings a small item or two for the kids. Sometimes she brings things to our hotel room while we are actually there (though that's harder to do, since she is so busy signing autographs all day).

So the other day DD wrote a note to Tink on the white board on our refrigerator. She kept saying things like "I sure hope Tinkerbell writes back!" and "When is Tinkerbell going to write back?" and then giving me the side-eye, so Tink decided to stop by while the kids were at their dad's house. It took DD a while to realize there was a note on the fridge when she came home from camp. Tink's note suggested that the kids go up to their rooms, so they ran up and found a few items to entertain them on the plane. DS got a small Lego set he had wanted, and DD got a small "Minnie's Book of Secrets" diary and 2 small American Girl activity "tote" things that have tiny paper dolls and a few activities in them.

Tink usually leaves a note, especially when she visits our house, but this time she didn't because her printer was out of pixie dust. She'll be back before we go on our trip, though, to deliver some pins for the kids and perhaps to deliver a countdown chain.

Joining in a little late but am caught up! I've enjoyed your TR so far, especially your pictures. Going to DLR as a solo side trip during a conference in San Diego in October, and looking through your photos of the Disney scenery has gotten me more excited about the trip! :cool1:

Welcome! :wave2:

A solo trip, that sounds nice! I had toyed with the idea of taking a solo trip this summer around another event, but I couldn't justify the cost of everything. I'll do my best to post a fat ton of photos when we return to inspire you for your trip!

That 'll be great! Cant get enough of good pics of Disneyland!

Did you love the Del? How was it? I am SO excited to stay there, and was thrilled that I was able to use DVC points to do it. If I had my way I would be laying around the beach all 3 days but I have a feeling that wouldn't fly with my boys! I am considering buying the GO pass...it has LA/San Diego attractions on it.

We loved it. There are pools and for a fee surf lessons so that might be something for your boys.
You could do some tour stuff in the morning i.e the Midway and then head back to the Del.
There are some restaurants on Orange Ave & up at the Ferry Landing that aren't as pricey as the Del. We did eat lunch at the Del 2 days & splurged for the Sunday brunch:goodvibes

I love love love that Tink stopped by your house. That's adorable!!

Thanks! And that reminds me, she needs to pay us one more visit before we go. And she needs to figure out how to smuggle a few things into our hotel room while we are there. Hmmmmm.

The Tink visit to the room might be a tough visit for her but I have heard that sometimes she visits while you are asleep.:thumbsup2

Ugh. Let the pre-trip drama begin. DS woke up sick today with a sore throat and fever. We leave in 48 hours. I don't feel well either. Please tell me this is not happening!!! I am taking him to the doctor later and hoping he has strep because then he can get medicine and hopefully be better by Saturday, otherwise we have to cancel at least part of the trip. I'm just ready to cancel the whole thing because I can't handle this stress.

Also the dryer isn't working, so I can't do laundry. I guess that won't matter if we aren't going anywhere. I have someone coming to look at it later today, hopefully it is a quick fix.

Strep test is negative, but the doctor said he looks like he has strep and that the culture might just be wrong (or it might be too early). She gave him a prescription and said if he bounces back by tomorrow and if the fever breaks, we can go on Saturday. Otherwise....:confused::confused::(

Hope your son gets better soon! Will keep my fingers crossed that it's just a short cold and his fever will be gone by Saturday.

Ugh, you poor thing. I keep looking at my son thinking that he is coming down with something and we leave next week. I agree, hopefully its strep and then you know its a quick fix.

Good luck with everything!

Finally noticed this link to your pretrip, and have just finished reading the first page!

Luckily, we were far enough away to avoid this and simultaneously delight in watching people run from it.

We are very much alike in this. :)

Finished with the second page.

Their DD offered to ride with DD, so she wouldn't have to sit alone on the back of the ride. That was so nice, and I hope my kids remember that and pay it forward some day.

Awwww.

But just think...soon enough your son will be old enough to ride without you, and then YOU might be the one riding alone! (I know, it's both a scary and wonderful thought)

I have to go to the Y now so I can't get through more right now, so I'll be wondering if you're actually leaving until I can get back and read more!
