Trip #8; But Was It Great? A WDW MAYcation with a side of LegoLand & Celebration, FL!

I'm here :) Yes I've been busy but if you want to see a quiet trip report you need to pop over to mine!! You could hear a pin drop over there  You should pop over and cheer me up. LOL Your tr is a racket compared to mine. LOL
Glad DS got over his fear of Maelstrom. Atta Boy :thumbsup2

We always eat at Liberty Inn. I'm not sure why but it has always been good so we just stick with what we know I guess. Happy to hear you liked it too.

The room of hanging beef would have been a tad disturbing to me but would have sent my vegitarian DD over the edge!:crazy2: We will know to avoid that restaraunt now or be sure she doesn't notice it. LOL

Note to self: Look to the right when entering Yachtsman...

It always drives me nuts when you go into a mostly empty restaurant and then they wedge you in next to another table. You couldn't leave one between? I know it's because of the server's station etc. But really... They knew it was your anniversary. How about a teensy bit of privacy?
You and your hubby looked so cute!
Too bad the steak had sauce and the potatoes were too onion-y. I'll have to tell Dave if we ever go there to ask for his meat plain. He's like you that way.
I bet the kids enjoyed their parent-free time, just hanging out!

I feel the need to go on a date with my DH and get a good steak. Not going to Ruth's Chris probably, but I'm sure I can find something...

I'm soooooo sorry I messed all y'all up with my talking about those fab restaurants!:lmao:

I have to drive by Ruth's Chris when I leave my neighborhood and then to go shopping I pass by PF Changs. Both places are about 5 minutes from my house so I'm in trouble no matter what.:rotfl:

We go to Changs a lot--- like three or four times a month-- b/c they have a Gluten Free menu and I can eat there without worry of being glutenized. We ended up there last night and it was okay. It wasn't a Bone in Filet from Ruth's, however!!:guilty:

A Bone in Filet is a filet (duh, obviously Jodi...) that has, well, a bone attached to it.:rotfl: A filet usually has it but it's taken off the bone when served normally. IDK what it is about it being left on-- it makes it the best steak I've ever had.
It's not on their regular menu, you sometimes have to ask if they have it in house. The steak alone is around $50- it's the priciest cut they have I think, but not sure.

DH goes there a lot with his company with people from all over the country, just to get that steak. It consitently gets rave reviews from everyone. That's how I had it the first time.

And dang, great now I want it again.

SOmehow the hamburgers I'm gonna fix aren't going to do it for me.:rotfl:

Shelly--- did you end up at RL???:drive:

Girl once you have that Bone In Filet from Ruth's.... it's all over. I think I could eat it every day. :sad2:

Huuum--- haven't ever had the steak at RL or M&E so IDK which to tell you to go to.
Okay wait. RL has cheddar biscuits. Yep--that gets my vote!! ::yes::

I'm gonna have to settle for PF Chang's. :rotfl2: Not sure how that happened when I was all ready for my steak.:confused3

We have a Ruth's Chris in the city, but we've never been there. :confused3 And we don't have PF Chang's here that I know of.

Yeah-- I'm afraid the SL lounge will never be the same. I can't wait to tell the kids we're staying there. And then tell them that you'll be there the next day. They still think you are staying at the Poly the whole time. ;)

It's gonna be fun to hear those squeals of delight!

You are right -- the lounge will never be the same!!

Your kids are going to be so excited about the GF! :cool1: And then another surprise -- we will be there! When are you going to tell them? popcorn:: The night you get there? The morning we are arriving? Or just let them see each other and figure it out that way? :rotfl:

I live in the UK now and we do not have these restaurants here!! How mean of you to remind me that RL has those cheddar biscuits lol

No Red Lobster in the UK??? :faint:

I have never eaten at that steakhouse-the Ruth's place-and heard it's the BOMB!! People talk about it like it's the Holy Grail for steaks,..I have never heard one bad thing about it! We have a PF Changs in the Woodlands and over in Houston...but not where we are...so that's an hour and a half drive or more for that too!! But, I have eaten PFs and it's preeeettty daaaaaang good!!!:thumbsup2

I haven't either...maybe that's a good thing. :rotfl:

DD and her BF went to Ruth's Chris Thursday night for his birthday. She was telling me what they had to eat, and it was killing me! She doesn't eat steak, so she had lobster, and they shared spinach Madeline and some potato side.

I always get the petite filet at Ruth's Chris. I sound like I eat there often. We used to go every year when DH's office had their Christmas dinner. Anything you want, apps, dinner, dessert, on the company. Yep, that's one of the casualties of the economy. So we've only been once or twice on our own dime. What is a bone in filet? Sounds contradictory! You like it better than the filet?

So now between DD and you and Shelly, I'm really wishing I had something good to eat over here!

I would probably get the petite filet too! I don't think I know what a bone in filet is either. :confused3

I've never eaten at Red Lobster before. We just got one here last year - there had been one a long time ago, but it had closed. But I've never heard of Max & Erma's. Is that a steak place, too? I'll have to Google and see if they are in Louisiana.

You've never been to Red Lobster??? :upsidedow I don't even eat seafood and I've been there several times! :rotfl: Actually, I don't love the place like most people do. I used to really love their steak, but then several years ago they went to the 'oak fire grill' and I think it gives the steak a bad flavor. :confused3 I can still eat it, but I don't love it. Sometimes now I will just get a salad, a baked potato, and eat a lot of cheddar bay biscuits!

Max & Erma's isn't a steak place. But they make a decent steak salad. They are famous for their chicken tortilla soup. http://www.maxandermas.com/

I'll have to pop on to your TR!!

I'm so glad DS got over his Maelstrom fear too! :yay: We had never been to Liberty Inn before, I'm glad we stopped in there. It was a decent lunch!

Yes I can imagine the hanging beef would disturb a vegetarian very much! :scared1:

I know, there was no reason to seat us there. But I didn't want to complain so we just dealt with it! :upsidedow

But yeah, we had a nice time and so did the kids! :goodvibes

Hope you get a nice date night soon! :)

Look at all the conversation you started here!! :rotfl:

I didn't realize Ruth's Chris and PF Chang's was so close to your house!! :faint:

Well that is interesting about the bone in filet. Strange that it makes it taste so much better!

We ended up at Max & Erma's. We let the kids choose and M&E has corndogs and a sundae bar, so that was a no brainer. :rotfl: I had a good steak salad and a cup of chicken tortilla soup. Yes, I felt dumb ordering soup when it was 90 degrees out, but oh well!!

I'm still here Shelly! Most of the time I just pop on to catch up on my TR's/PTR's and don't comment.

Not a good idea to be reading this when I'm hungry. There is a Ruths Chris steakhouse about a half hour away right near DHs work. We will be definately going there next time we have a date night. Maybe to celebrate my new job! (when I get one) lol:) we have heard good things about but have never been.

I'm still reading...

I'm seriously craving a steak now. The steaks in Korea suck. All they do with the ones in restaurants is throw them on the grill. No marinade or sauce or anything. Yuck! We bought some at the grocery store after we got to Logan's parents, and they were soo good. I guess that's a byproduct of being in Kansas - even home-grilled steaks turn out amazing!

I hope you get to go to Ruth's Chris to celebrate a new job soon!! :wizard:

Hey Becca! Glad you're still here.

I bet steaks in Kansas are way better than steaks in Korea!! ::yes::

After dinner at the Yachtsman DH and I walked over to the YC lobby, just because we had never seen it before.

Then we went back to the room to get the kids so we could head back to Epcot for IllumiNations.

DS and I decided to play Legos for a bit first!

It had been awhile since the kids had ate and they were ready for a snack! They wanted to go back to the place where we got the giant soft serve waffle cones that first night we arrived. But that was clear on the other side of WS in Epcot and I was just wanting to walk to Epcot and find somewhere on the BC side of WS to watch IllumiNations. So I told them they could just get some ice cream from B&C.

So we head down there and there is a huge line and people everywhere. Of course! So we wait it out and service was super slow. But we finally got some cones. And of course they were not nearly as good as the ones we had on arrival night in Epcot. And of course no one let me hear the end of that!! :rotfl:

We took our time and slowly walked over to the International Gateway and we finished up our cones before we entered Epcot.

It was a beautiful evening with a nice breeze. Epcot looked awesome! :goodvibes

We walked past France and Japan and found a nice spot somewhere between Japan and America to watch IllumiNations.

Continued in next post....

It's too bad that your table was so close to the other guys and you couldn't really spend quality time with the hubby. I'm not a fan of all the sauces that they put on steaks now-a-days. I'd rather have it on the side just in case I don't like it.

Continued.....

After IllumiNations we were in no hurry. No rush to catch a bus or anything!! So we just kind of slowly strolled round and ended up in France and took some pics.

We made our way back to the BC and cut across by the quiet pool to get to the elevator that went up to our room. I'm not exactly sure what happened here, but somehow DS10 ended up betting DS13 that he wouldn't jump in the pool. So of course, he did!!:rotfl2:

Not sure what is funnier – DS13 jumping in the pool or DS10 laughing at him!!!!

Up Next: DTD!!

We were posting at the same time. The picture of your oldest with his ice cream cone is too funny. You can tell he was thinking "this ice cream is soooo not as good as the ice cream I wanted". :rotfl:

What a great way to end your evening...Illuminations and a nice stroll back to the resort.

Your youngest should have known that your oldest would take that bet and jump in the pool!

Yeah, maybe I should start asking for that stuff on the side. That peppercorn brandy sure wasn't a good flavor. :scared1:

I know, he is not good at hiding his feelings! :upsidedow :rotfl:

It was a great evening. :goodvibes

You're right -- DS10 totally should have known that DS13 would do that!! :lmao:

awe! I love the pic of the boys "holding" the globe on their hands. What a cool idea!!! and France is one of our favorite night time spots to take pictures too. The lit up fountain is just too irresistable!

:cheer2:

Another fabulous Epcot post!!!

The pic of you and DS10 playing Legos is so dang adorable. I love it. :goodvibes And you certainly don't look like his mama. You could be his teenaged sister, gurrrrrl!!! ::yes::

Too bad the IC didn't live up to the First day standards. But I bet you it had more to do with the first day cone being, well, the first day!!:thumbsup2 Everything is better when it's the First day!!

I love that y'all had such a great night-- the spot you watched Illuminations from was perfect! I've only ever watched it from the bridge b/c I want to be as far away from an entrance as I can be so I get to walk really slowly back to the car. I'm sneaky that way.:lmao:

So glad you got to have a nice relaxing walk back and stopped to take pics in France. That is the best time of the entire day in Epcot to me. Just strolling along, looking around, while everyone else is running for the exits. *Sigh* pixiedust:

DS13... what a stinker! That boy is hysterical.

Wonderful update--- it was one of my faves this trip!!!:flower3:

Epcot, particularly France, is awesome at night!! ::yes::

Thank you! :cool1:

I could be his sister!! :lmao: You're too sweet! :flower3:

Yeah, I guess nothing could live up to 'first day ice cream'. :rotfl: Especially not 'Day 6 ice cream'.:laughing:

It was a great night and a great spot for IllumiNations! I had scoped it out earlier in the day!! :thumbsup2 It was so nice to be able to stroll back to the BC at our own pace. And even stopping for pictures!

DS13 is hysterical!! Never a dull moment with that kid around. :rotfl2:

Glad you enjoyed the update. :goodvibes Unfortunately that was the last of Epcot for the trip. :sad1:

I'm still here too, Shelly. Loved the video! Your boys sure had fun! That quiet pool looks like the one that was right outside our room when we stayed a couple nights at BC.
What a terrific photo of the boys holding the globe. Very creative!
Well, being the ice cream junkies that we are, I went back to find your 'first day ice cream' day so I could see where you bought it, lol, and am taking mental notes. That, and that the Illuminations viewing spot. What great Epcot pics!
:)
Love all the food pics too! Very helpful.
