Can anyone explain the new photo packages for the cruises?

Trying to budget for our upcoming cruise and I know you can no longer pre purchase credits? So can you still purchase credit packages on board? I don't want the CD I like having my pics printed out, so do you just pay the full price or can you still buy credits and if so how much are they?
Thanks :)

I got this from a recent thread about photos from Shutters:

When you buy a package, 10, 20, 30, it is 10, 20, or 30 prints OR they will "unlock" 10, 20, or 30 images from the CD for you to take home and print as you want.

Or you can buy individual prints.

Perfect thank you so much :)

If you booked with AAA you will receive 2 8X10s and 1 6X8 for free - this is a $50 value. When I was on the July 4th Dream cruise - I ask at Shutters and was able to receive $50 off of my photo CD instead of receiving the three pictures. I thought this was a great deal. You just have to ask - the CMs at Shutters were very nice and helpful.

We're you on a four day? I'm trying to find out what the cost of that cd was. Thanks!

So am I reading this right that the cd is $249.95. I have booked with AAA for Jan 2013 and would love the CD. It's great to know that I could apply the AAA photo credit toward the purchase. That is much more affordable.

OK, what it is - they will have a CD with all the photos on it that you have taken by the ships photographers. You can purchase the CD, the cost varies, depending on the length of the cruise. I think the 7 night one is $349.00. If you purchase the length of cruise CD, you will be able to access/print all the photos on it once at home in whatever size you want. You can pay an additional $50 on this package and get the CD plus all the photos on it printed.

OR

You can purchase a (for example) 20 photo package for $249.00. You will get the CD (which has all the photos on it - in small thumbnails). Shutters will "unlock" the ability for you to access/print 20 photos from the CD at home.

OR

You can purchase a 20 photo package for $249.00 and get 20 printed photos from Shutters.

OR

You can purchase individual photos. Shutters will predetermine sizes (6X8 = character photos; 8X10 formal/pirate/roving photographers). Those will be printed photos.

While the PP reported being able to apply a credit based, I wouldn't count on it. It may have been just an individual employee deciding to do it and not a standard practice.

Yes - I was on a 4 night cruise. The cost of the CD was $249.95 and I was able to apply the $50 toward the CD instead of receiving the 3 free pictures. Hopefully others will be able to do the same - I may have been lucky that the individual I spoke with let me do this - It never hurts to ask. I have been very pleased with my photos.

thanks so much that was exactly the info I needed

Go with the CD - it's pricey but worth it.
We went with a pre-paid package because I thought the CD was too much. Unfortunately, among some other things, I would have cropped the pictures differently than how they were done.
My daughter made a friend early in the cruise and they met again on the last night while we danced in the atrium - the friend had smarter parents than my daughter, they got the CD.
They were kind enough to share some of those photos - I would have gladly paid the package price for just those shots! Cropped and focused beautifully.
Nobody who sees those shots can believe how nicely they turned out (the other girl's parents have received the same reaction).
I suppose I could have just said "reprints alone make the CD worth it" but then I wouldn't have been able to talk about two super cute kids!

PS We're ordering the CD for our upcoming Fantasy sailing...

Thank you for this! It's just DH and I so I'm wondering how many pics we'll have, but I wanted to know how much $ to budget for photos.....

We're on a 7 night...so it looks like if we get a bunch more than 20 pics, we should just get the CD for $350?
But if we get less, we can do the 20 pics for $249?

What do you guys think? Also, do we need to pre-purchase the CD or can we decide midway through or towards the end of the cruise?

Thanks!

Going on a 5 night and have $100 credit from AAA. Hopefully I'll be able to apply it to the CD.

You can wait until you are on the ship at any point during the cruise before the last night to decide if you want to order the CD.

If you purchase the cd, do you get any discounts off printed pictures? I think it used to be 50% off?

If you purchase the length of cruise CD, you can pay an additional $50 and get all the photos on the CD printed. If you only want a few printed, that I don't know.

Ok.... so based on the silly assumption that if a 7 night cruise is $349 for the complete disk, would the 5 night cruise be $250 ($50/night)?.... and if that is true, would that mean that the 20 picture package is silly since it's the same price?

Just asking....!

Well, it's been reported that the length of cruise CD for a 4 night is $249.95. So, I'm guessing here, the 5 night would most likely be around $299.95.

And, yes, I noticed that the 20 picture package is the same price as the length of cruise CD for the 4 night, so I agree it's a bit silly.

Do the pictures on the CD's have the borders? Does the CD include the photo you get before getting on the boat?

Thanks.
