Military Discount Tickets

I am crossing everything they extend it because we are planning DL for next year.

To be honest though, I doubt it will continue. If it does come out again, I see some changes in price or offer. They just opened carsland and some parts of fantasyland are open now. They don't "need" us to fill the parks and definitely don't need us to fill the hotels. It's sad we were used that way to fill the parks but it's how it goes. I'm glad they did it as long as they did and if they don't renew it, we will still go. I will just have to buy tickets at ITT and pay about $500 more :/.

I have a strange military Ticket question that I can't find in 15 pages of threads. I'm going with Mom (who falls under Military Widow to qualify). Can the tickets be activated at Downtown Disney (not going into Disneyquest)? I am wondering this because I'm going in July and want to save the half hour possible wait at AK ticket windows. If Mom and I can just do it after lunch at Wolfgang Puck express, then it makes DTD worth the time spent.

Not strange lol-- we usually go there to activate tickets because it's not full of people anxious to get into a park. Yes, you can.

Yes there are 2 Guest Services areas that can do that. We got ours activated at DTD Market Place a few years ago. Didn't do that this time. Just stopped over at MK the night before this last time since we stay at SOG.

When I called and upgraded our room from regular to club level not too long ago, the cast member was oddly mysterious....

He asked if I needed to buy MVPCP or any other things, and I stated that I was going to wait until full details about the military salute being extended before I made those plans (I paid full price for MVMCP last year because I was told there was no discount, I got to the gate to activate regular (military salute) park tickets and the cast member said "We have MVMCP going on tonight and Thursday with a great military discount! Are you interested in that?"
I told him we had already bought them at full price, after being told there was not discount, and they were not able to refund me the difference....)

Anyways....after I said that, he was very mysterious and said "I'd keep a close eye out on that! In the years that I have worked for Disney, they always have some excellent discounts, and I would almost be willing to bet that an announcement for your time frame (just after this one ends) will come, very *VERY* soon."
So I am hoping to hear something by late summer, early fall at the latest!

Even if it isn't quite as big as the last few years (they have been going down a bit....from a free day, to $99 for 4 days, to $138 for 4 days...) I'd still be happy with a little bit of savings.

It's really great that they do this and while I would still go even if there wasn't a discount, I understand the families that can go ONLY if there is a discount, so it's a great opportunity for them!

The CM's in the call centers are the LAST people I would believe, or even perpetuate rumors from, when it comes to these tickets. I'd believe the bus drivers before I'd listen to the call center staff.

Ok, my DH and I are going to Disney Aug 17 to 26th. We are both veterans and have a family friend who is active duty Navy who has offered to get us 4 discount 4 day hoppers. Does anyone know if they get us the actual ticket or are they vouchers and how do we activate them? We are staying at all star sports for 2 days. Thanks.

Your riend will get the tickets from the base ITT office, but they will have to be at the park to activate them, if your friend doesn't go with you, you can't activate the tickets.

If he buys tickets for you at Disney, they will be activated and ready to use. If he buys them at the base, HE has to go to Disney to activate them. You will not be able to use them without him activating them first. Because you said you're veterans, I presume that means you're not currently reservists, retirees or active duty. If you were, you could activate the tickets yourselves. Sorry.:sad2:

And by activating, it means they actually have to be at a WDW ticket booth, with their ID, and one ticket needs to be for them.

Anyone out there?

I have read through the thread but my BIL just told me that one of his friends who was USMC for 4 years only (been out for 10 years) got free tickets as well with his driver's license (the symbol we have on the driver's license showing the service).

Is this the case? I haven't seen the tickets but I don't think the guy is of the frame of mind to lie. My DH served for 4 years-love my guy-and he has the same thing on his license.

Is this right?

can someone help? The only reason is if this is the case then we are going in Sept and were curious. I don't need mine free but it would be nice for my DH to be recognized for his service.

WRONG

There is no free ticket for military members, let alone prior enlisted non retired members.

The only ticket deals are for active duty or retired, and they are not free tickets. This person is either lying to you boldly, or is greatly mistaken.

I suppose this a good time to re-mention that the military salute tickets are not available to members who separated, not retired, and no longer carry an actual non-expired military ID.

If your sister's boyfriend's cousins's brother in law did two years in the Air Force six years ago, he is not eligible for these tickets unless he is permanently disabled from service and carries the ID to prove it.

The first year, retired, active duty or reserve military members did get a free ticket, but only if they had a current military ID. For the last two years, the military member has had to buy his ticket. So no, your BIL misunderstood or his friend went to a different park. Seaworld and Universal have had different military promos.

One of the tickets needs to be for the military member only if they buy 6 tickets. wish they would hurry up and let us know if there's going to be any promo this year! We have APs but our kids and grandkids don't.

I think you and I have been through this conversation before. I know you have been able to do things a little differently with your experience, but the official rules on the WDW site still state that one ticket purchased must be for the service member or spouse. If you are activating 6 at one time, one must be for the service member him/herself. A spouse can activate 5, but one must be for her/himself.

I thought that's what I said lol.:goodvibes Except for the 5 tickets- when we activated 5 at one time this year, one didn't have to be for me. But we had activated one for DH earlier in the promo, before he got his AP, so maybe that's why.

For the current promotion is the $138 a park hopper? We don't want the water park option but I've seen it different prices on different sites. :confused3
