Hello DisBoards and :welcome: to our Honeymoon Trip Report!!!!!!!

We are back from an amazing 10 night stay to celebrate our marriage, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it! We arrived on Monday July 23 and stayed at Port Orleans Riverside until Sunday July 29. On July 29, we moved to the Beach Club until Thursday August 2.

We had an amazing trip and I took a TON of pictures! You will feel like you are there with us!

First up….here is a little about us for those of you who haven’t read my previous trip reports.

Me:

DSC01967.jpg

I’m Christin, I’m 25 and I work at a local community college as my “real” job and as an usher in a theater as my “FUN” job! Some of my favorite things in life are reading, good food, getting addicted to tv shows, running, hiking, the beach, and, of course, Disney World!!

My favorite rides are Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain. I really love the stories that go along with these rides and the amazing theming I get to admire while waiting in line.

I finally feel like I’m at a point where I am happy just to be in Disney World, and don’t feel the need to go from ride to ride. We really took relaxation to another level on this trip, and, as the title of this trip report suggests, it suited us well!

Ben:

DSC02722.jpg

My new husband! Hooray! We’ve been dating since high school and finally tied the knot on 7.22.12. Ben is 28 and works in table games at a local casino. Ben loves outdoor activities like rock climbing, golf and softball. He is a huge football fan (Cowboys!) and a big Yankee fan as well. He also loves his video games.

His favorite rides are Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Expedition Everest, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and water slides. Ben enjoys a good thrill ride! And he LOVES the seagulls from Finding Nemo...as demonstrated in the above photo!

Ben readily embraced our relaxed style on this trip and enjoyed some days of sleeping in! He liked having a ton of pool time on this trip!

I’d like to start this trip report with our wedding because…well…I want to show it off because I think it was really cool! I’ll keep it brief, I hope nobody minds! Trust me…the pictures will be worth your time!!!!!

Don’t fret, there are 11 days of Disney fun coming up after the wedding festivities!!!!!

Hopefully this trip report will be fun and informative…with some humor thrown in for good measure!

So, readers, let me know you are here, don’t be afraid to comment!!

Thanks for joining in...here we go!!!

This trip starts wayyyy before it actually happened, as most Disney trips do for us Disers. This trip started in our minds when Ben proposed at the California Grill during Wishes in December 2010. The trip got even more real when we booked our wedding date and venue in 2011. And it truly became a reality when we FINALLY booked a 10 night trip in the Spring of 2012.

With that, I started planning like a lunatic, spending just as much time on Disney plans as I did on wedding plans! I made and remade ADRs, booked and changed hotels and read the DisBoards every day.

All of a sudden, the wedding day was upon us! About 3 weeks before it hit me that it was actually here! I found it very challenging to balance wedding and honeymoon planning at the same time, so I definitely felt a bit overwhelmed as the big day got closer and closer.

Thankfully, the weekend before, I had the best distraction ever…my version of a Bachelorette Party! I spent the weekend in Boston with my best friends in the world, and we had an AMAZING time!

Four of us drove up to our friend’s apartment just outside Boston on Saturday morning, parked in the lot at her place, and jumped in her car to go out to lunch. We went to one of our favorite Indian restaurants and had an amazing lunch to start off the day!

Here we are after lunch, all decked out in our wedding gear.

I’m the one in the middle!

It was half fun and half embarrassing to wear those shirts! All day people yelled out "Congrats!" and "Woooo, Team Bride!" and other things. We had fun with it!

We spend the day shopping, walking through the Boston Common and eating more great food!

My bridal party…my friend Kevin was a “bridesman”! Such a good sport!!

Here we are in the Common:

We had dinner in the North End (Italian), and spent the evening wandering around the harbor area.

DSC01316.jpg

And then, my favorite photos ever happened…

It started out innocently enough…

DSC01320.jpg

Posing on these weird modern art wall things…

DSC01321.jpg

Then, for whatever reason, we decided we neeeeeded to take a picture laying down on it. Why? I really don’t know. We weren’t even drinking…

DSC01324.jpg

Then someone walking by offered to take a picture so we could all be in it. Kevin refused to lay down…

DSC01325.jpg

At this point, we had drawn a crowd and someone threatened to give Kevin a spanking if he didn’t get on the ground.

So he complied….

DSC01326.jpg

Seriously, I don’t even know how this came to be, but I love the memory and the photos! Being goofy with friends is the best! We were cracking up in all of those pictures!

We went out for dessert after this, and then, sadly, it was time for Kevin, Kaylee and Susan to head home. They had to work the next day. BUT, I was staying for the night, and Shrina and I were doing a 5K in the morning!

We were up bright and early to make it to the race by 8:00AM. The race was called Color Me Rad, and they have events all over the country.

I’m not even going to bother explaining first…here is what we looked like by the end!

They spray you with water and throw colored corn starch at you throughout the race course! It is SO. MUCH. FUN.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went out to breakfast all covered in colors after this, and then went back to Shrina’s apartment to get cleaned up. It literally took us each a half hour in the shower to get the colors off! There were colors in my nose and ears! Crazy, but fun! We plan to do it again next summer before Kaylee’s wedding!!!

We hung around Shrina’s apartment for the afternoon, and then she dropped me off at South Station to catch and Amtrak train home.

It was such a fun weekend, and just the kind of “bachelorette party” I was hoping for!

I worked Monday, Tuesday and Thursday the following week, trying to get my summer program students all set up before I was gone for two weeks.

I had Friday off from that job, so I spent the day packing for the wedding weekend and our honeymoon! It was really hard to try to get everything into the right bag and stay organized! I didn't want to have to dig through multiple bags, so I spent a lot of time just staring at my suitcases trying to figure out what needed to go where! I worked in the theater that night, and went out for a couple of drinks with my theater friends afterwards.

On Saturday, I kicked it into high gear and finished getting everything together.

At 2:00PM, my friends started showing up to go to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner!

Here I am with Kaylee waiting for everyone to show up!

DSC01334.jpg

We decided we needed to take a jumping picture for some reason!

Ben and I, almost ready to go!

DSC01337.jpg

We had our rehearsal at the Justice of the Peace’s house. We don’t know any JPs, so we found this guy on the list from the city hall. He seemed like such a nice old guy when we first met with him. He remained a nice old guy…but when we started the rehearsal he called me Mary Margaret. Ummmm, not even close!!!! He kept looking to his wife (Dot), for help and information, and I left the rehearsal very worried that he would have no idea who I was at the wedding!!!

I also think we blew his mind with the fact that Kevin was a bridesman. He just could not understand. He kept asking, “Now, he is really standing over there??” Yes crazy man, he is a bridesman and my name is CHRISTIN! Jeez…

Thankfully, we all have a sense of humor, so we left there laughing about it.

We headed to the restaurant at the Mystic Seaport, Latitude 41, for our rehearsal dinner.

We met Ben’s family there and the few out of town guests we had.

Here are my friends at dinner.

The food was fabulous and we had a great time! Ben’s dad (who lives in North Carolina and who I had only met once before…for a reason!) said a few rude things, but I decided I wasn’t dealing with it and had a fabulous time!

After dinner I said bye to my dad and brother and to Ben and his family, and headed out with my friends to check into our hotel for the night. We had decided to have a sleepover the night before the wedding!

We checked in and then headed straight out to downtown Mystic to spend the evening.

We went to Margaritas for…well, margaritas!

We walked around downtown Mystic afterwards and took some photos!

I just noticed poor Kaylee in the corner of that panoramic shot...hahaha I guess she had an itch!

We got ice cream, and then headed back to the hotel to do some last minute wedding crafts and just hang out and have fun!

Kaylee broke out the wine and champagne and we made table markers and had a great time!

We went to bed around 11:00 or midnight, with plans to get up bright and early to pamper ourselves!

The next morning was the wedding day!!!!!!!!!

We are going to the world for our honeymoon too! Less than 2 months away for us, I can't wait!!!!!:rotfl::jumping1:

Your “bachelorette party” looks like so much fun! That race must've been a something, too! Your JP story made me laugh. Mary Margaret?? Okay then.. Ours' made himself memorable by repeatedly getting lost on the way to us! I think I would've preferred he call me Mary. :rotfl: Fun/odd memory for you anyway! I hope he gets it right during the ceremony!!

Loving this! Mystic looks really pretty, btw. (Even with an itchy friend in your shot!) I know I've heard John talk about it a time or two, but I can't remember why..

I can't wait to see the wedding!!

OHHHH! Subbing! wedding and disney moon TRs get me. I'm so in!

I'm doing the Color Run 5K in December in Orlando!
