AGLET – We're Gonna Tour The World Together! Updated 11/9!!!

Hurrah for a Disney wedding and honeymoon!!! :yay: Even if "exactly no one" is surprised it is still fantastic news! I hope that you will write about the planning process...it will be so fun to follow along with you.

LOVE your niece's plan. Definitely a future DISer! :thumbsup2

Quite a few of us are visiting in Oct so hope you guys will be able to squeeze in a DIS meet or two while you are "scouting."

OMG Beaker bandaids?!?! Must get those!!!

Love the pics of Boardwalk. So pretty!! I was very pleasantly surprised by breakfast at Kouzzina in May. Very yummy!!!

Hi,
I just started reading the report. I am only up to day 2 but really enjoying it so far. I absolutely check for bugs the first thing too.

I can say staying at AKL is worth it. We stayed in Jambo House and loved it.

Sanaa was wonderful. I agree about the bowls having plenty of food in them.
One of the best meals I had there. The spicy shrimp were so good.

Poly does look like it takes a little getting used to with the paths.

Looking forward to reading day 2 tomorrow.

Lovely photos of the Boardwalk area!!! It looks so beautiful and peaceful early in the morning.

Now you've done it!! Now I can't decide between the waffle and the french toast now that I see Wingnut ordered that delicious looking baklava version. Yummmm!!! :thumbsup2

Yummm!! Your breakfast looks so good!! I love Kouzzina's. When we ate there, we were 6 adults and agreed to all get different dishes, so we could try everything. It was wonderful! Breakfast looks yummy!!

Good thing you were still at Disney, so you could get new sunglasses there!:thumbsup2:

That's a great idea!!! DF and I usually end up getting different things at restaurants anyways, it's fun to try as much as possible! Glad you enjoyed it there!

Hahaha exactly!! :thumbsup2

Thank you!!! Yes, I will be sharing about the plans, do not worry!

Hahahaha she really is awesome! :thumbsup2

That'd be so fun to do a DIS meet! I never have before!

Aren't they amazing?? I still haven't had reason to use them yet, but they're there waiting...

Isn't Kouzzina nice? I'm glad you enjoyed it there!

Welcome!!! Glad to have you here!! :goodvibes

Oh I am an immediate bug-checker! It is a must-do in my book.

I'm glad you enjoyed AKL! One day we really should stay there. It looks so gorgeous!

I was so surprised at how much food was in those little bowls! We were SO full after that meal!

Hahaha by the end of that trip, we were practically experts at getting around the Poly! But it was very confusing at the beginning!

Lovely photos of the Boardwalk area!!! It looks so beautiful and peaceful early in the morning.

It really was! I love that area so much!

Hahahaha get both!!!! :thumbsup2 (Personally, I'd say that the French toast is much more of a unique dish, but the waffle does have the marscapone cheese topping, so that's pretty awesome too!)

When you are planning a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding (this isn’t me being cute, that’s really the name of the wedding department at Disney :goodvibes), one of the options you have is to attend a planning session, and basically go and plan out every iota of your wedding day. You can also plan for a site visit, and a menu tasting (if your event is not at the California Grill).

Obviously, yes, we will be doing all three! :thumbsup2

We decided to overlap our trip with a trip my parents already had scheduled in October, so they would be able to attend the different sessions with us. And we decided to be logical and cost-effective, and stay at a moderate this time around. Free dining was also released for our dates, and well, you all know we NEVER pass up the opportunity to eat!!

(See above: menu tasting session. ::yes::)

When our planning session and site visit dates were confirmed, we checked out the availability at the moderate we were most interested in: Port Orleans French Quarter.

(87% of our logic behind this choice is based solely on the promise of beignets. :thumbsup2)

Unfortunately, there was no availability there for our dates. Sad face.

I asked Wingnut which of the remaining moderates he’d want to stay at. He left it up to me. I picked Port Orleans Riverside, not 100% thrilled (nothing against POR, or any of the other moderates, I was just more set on POFQ), but satisfied that we would still enjoy it.

Trip booked.

Around 2 weeks later, I called Disney to get our flight confirmation numbers so we could switch our seats around, check in, etc. While talking with the CM, on a whim, I asked if there was any availability at POFQ.

She replied in the affirmative, and moments later, we were now going to be staying at POFQ! Wingnut was happy to hear the news of our revised location. :yay:

(Will it change again? No. No no no no no.)

(Maybe.)

(Probably not.)

(Who knows?)

Glad you got what you wanted. We have stayed at POFQ. The best word for it, in my opinion, is quaint. It has a small, peaceful, quiet atmosphere about it. I think the architecture is cool with all the wrought iron railing. The boat ride to and from DTD is nice, too.

Oh, and beignets. ::yes::

It's just pure old fun to be talking about Disney trips yet to come. pixiedust:

I think POFQ is an excellent choice. Can you get a water view room on the river? I only say this because Denny and I stayed there once for the night (pre DVC stay) and we had the most fabulous room location - high floor, corner room, overlooking the water. I'm not one for spending extra money on water views and such, but this was SO worth it.

Congratulations on getting the resort you wanted! I think POFQ would be a lot of fun to stay at. I can't wait to hear about the menu tasting sessions and all the planning stuff!

We were at the beach last weekend and I saw a cup I most have and thought about your trip report it's a beaker tervis tumbler. It's pretty awesome if you haven't seen it you'll have to look at their website and check it out.

I feel the same way about POFQ/POR. I want to stay @ POFQ. Nothing against POR. Seems nice enough...
For now though I'm "stuck" with POR & checking availability daily for POFQ!

Your trip sounds so exciting and it's so soon!

Yay for getting in at POFQ! Although POR is my favorite moderate, POFQ comes in a close second...and the beignets are a big part of that!

I'm sure we'll all be glued to our screens to see if you change your mind! :rotfl:

That's awesome that you got in at POFQ! We really liked it there. It's very pretty and very small so you're never far from anything.

My favorite part of our stay? The beignets.:thumbsup2 I had them for breakfast every morning, and for a snack one day too!

I'm glad you guys were able to switch to the resort you were hoping for (even though I think that POR is awesome!).

Your planning events sound like so much fun!

Woo Hoo!! POFQ, free dining, wedding planning, tasty treats, food and wine!! Sounds like an awesome trip!!! :goodvibes:

I love POFQ! So happy it became available for you!! Where are your parents staying?

Looking forward to more planning and the rest of your trip report!!

So glad that things worked out for you at POFQ!! Even if beignets were a powerful influence!! :lmao: How seriously exciting is that to have a trip to plan and do your tastings? :goodvibes

Thanks!!! We've never stayed there, but it definitely seems to be exactly how you describe it!

It really is exciting to talk about upcoming trips! :thumbsup2

Yeay for getting the resort you wanted! We have stayed at POFQ twice and loved it both times!

Thanks!! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it there!

Hahahahaha I like how you're encouraging me to change our room reservation again! :rotfl: Right now we just have a standard view, but I remember you saying that the water view is awesome! If we don't end up getting a nice view, we'll at least get to see it walking around!

Congratulations on getting the resort you wanted! I think POFQ would be a lot of fun to stay at. I can't wait to hear about the menu tasting sessions and all the planning stuff!

Aww that sounds awesome!! I love all of the Muppets merchandise that's out now!

Thanks!! Hahaha you know I'm always influenced by the potential of pastries!! :rotfl:

It really is exciting! I'm really looking forward to everything we have planned this trip!

Sorry you were a bit disappointed in your breakfast! That's never fun.

YAY for POFQ! I'm with you. That would be my favorite of the mods. (Not that I know anything seeing as I've never stayed at any of them.) HOORAY!

I say you exercise your right as a female ..... and change your mind if you want to. Can't wait to hear about the October trip !!
