First a Little Pomp & Circumstance, then a Whole Lot of Disney Dining! COMPLETE

Love the vintage pics! The scrapbooker in me would totally do some "then and now" pages. :)

I know what you are saying about a mom's sacrifice. Why is it that every time I'm certain that my kids won't eat something, they always polish it off? Especially when I get sushi. My middle son even eats all the ginger and wasabi. :lmao:

I just caught up on reading your report. Love it. We are considering going back to Artist Point, haven't been there in a few years, and you may push me in one direction or the other.

From one "Good Morning" singer to another! :thumbsup2

That soups is DS's absolute favorite. In my quest that we should all get different things, I have never ordered it and he begrudingly only allows we one spoonful. I may have to change my rules this year and get my own bowl! :thumbsup2

But not even this would deter her, so I begrudgingly allowed her to take a spoonful. And wouldn't you know it, she very much liked this mushroom soup. So much so that from that point on it became a race between our spoons, as to which of us would get more of the remaining soup in my bowl. Ah yes, the sacrifices we mothers make for our children. ;)

Now I must cut off the review here, so please stay tuned for Dinner at Artist Point - Part II.

That's so funny that she liked the mushroom soup! If you begged her to try it she probably wouldn't have! I have two boys (DH & DS) who are always picking at my plate. I have no idea how I'm so fat cause I never get to eat a whole meal! :rotfl2:

First of all, :welcome: to the new posters, HadesTX and pixiechick! Thanks for taking the time to stop by and post a comment. :thumbsup2

The salmon looks great in your 2010 pic. And I've never seen pics from the Artist Point character meal before. I knew it existed (and I've read good things about the blueberry french toast that was once served there), but it's very cool to see real pics from this meal. :thumbsup2 Part of me wishes the signature restaurants served breakfast or brunch (maybe a Sunday brunch). After seeing this review of a Narcoossee's TIW brunch event, I think there's so much potential for breakfast food at a signature level. :goodvibes

Hmmm...blueberry french toast. :scratchin I don't remember that, but I bet I loved it. ;) And that Narcoossee's brunch looked wonderful! Unfortunately, I read the review while I was having my breakfast this morning. It made my bowl of cereal and cup of coffee look quite pitiful. So thanks for that, Donald! :rotfl:

Interesting that you mentioned the cheese plate only had 3 cheeses. I went back to my photos and sure enough only 3 little slices of cheese with some skimpy garnishes and walnut toast. Hmmm... I'm now rethinking the value of this item.

Whoa! That cheese plate does look very underwhelming. :sad2:

I agree about the mushroom soup at Artist Point. We were given this as an amuse bouche back in October. I hate all things mushroom, but that soup was actually very good. DH loved it... unfortunately I spilled half of mine on the floor. :sad2: (It was a long day)

Now I'm not one to cry over spilled milk, but spilling that soup would be a whole different story. I think there would have been a few tears shed if I had spilled half of my soup on the floor...and it wouldn't have just been my daughter's. ;) :lmao:

Oh now I am on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what entrees you all ordered :scratchin

Hey Linda, you are my 400th post!!! :cool1: Too bad there is no prize involved.

Wow, your son must have a higher tolerance for spice than me. My first experience with wasabi was several years ago when it was served on the side of my California sushi roll. Not knowing any better, I wrongly assumed that it was something like guacamole. Consequently, I spread a whole lot of that stuff on my first bite of sushi roll. YIKES! Wow, my sinuses were clear for days after that. :lmao:

So anyway, I quickly learned that when it comes to me and wasabi...less is definitely more! ;)

Yay, another disboarder who likes to torture their family in the morning! :cool1:

Yep, that soup is definitely a good reason to break the rules! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for your wonderful reviews! I was lucky enough to go to the Pocohantas character breakfast and it was wonderful. Quiet but so good and apt for Artist Point.
Wendy

I'm enjoying going through all of your reviews! And maybe kinda drooling on myself a little bit... ;)

Oh, that mushroom soup. I, too, would like to drown in it and plan to attempt to do so in 6 weeks! :goodvibes

:wave2: Thanks for joining in, wendym and TheNewMrsB! I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying my reviews.

And I must say that I am jealous of you both. Wendy, I'm jealous of you because you got to experience the Pocahontas breakfast at Artist Point. It sounds like it was great! :thumbsup2

And of course I am jealous of you, Mrs. B, because you will be taking a swim in that wonderful AP soup in just 6 weeks. :lmao: Oh, and I see that you are staying at my second favorite Disney resort, the Polynesian. You're not by chance a fan of Macadamia-Pineapple pancakes, are you??? If so, then you are definitely staying in the right place. ;)

Found your review yesterday and just caught up. I'm really enjoying reading the reports, although its making me very hungry! Looking forward to the next installment.

Just wanted to say sorry folks, that I didn't get to finish my Artist Point review last night. I had intended to stay up late and write Part II but then I showed our Winnie the Pooh breakfast pictures to my DS and DD2. I told them that I had discovered through some research for my review that Artist Point once hosted a Pocahontas themed breakfast. Well, the next thing you know it, the three of us are watching the Pocahontas movie. We hadn't seen it in many, many years. In fact we only have it on a VHS tape so my DS had to go down to the basement to dig up our dusty, old VHS player so we could watch it. :lmao: But it was well worth the effort, as we all very much enjoyed watching it again. :thumbsup2

So I had forgotten that Wiggins, although a minor character in the movie, had some of the best lines.

Like this, for example...

Governor Ratcliffe: Wiggins, why do you think those insolent heathens attacked us?

Wiggins: Because we invaded their land and cut down their trees and dug up their earth?

I really enjoyed his "truthful" sarcasm! :thumbsup2

Oh, and then this...

Wiggins: Do you think we'll meet some savages?

Governor Ratcliffe: If we do, we shall be sure to give them a proper English greeting.

Wiggins: [holds up baskets of wine and cheese] Ooh, gift baskets!

Oops, sorry. Didn't mean to get so far off-task. :o

I promise I'll get back to writing Part II of my Artist Point review now. :guilty:

Never been to AP but have always wanted too...would you drop Kona for it on your arrival night? That is what I am toying with.... Oy decisions decisions!

A cliffhanger review- I can't wait to see what you ordered for the main entree.:hourglass

Loved the pictures of the Pooh breakfast. Didn't know AP ever did breakfast, much less with characters.

Really enjoyed reminiscing with you about Pocohantas. We met Meeko before he was a regular at AK at the Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian and I was so thrilled to meet a Pocohantas character. Wish WDW would change some of their character meals around more often.

Here is the link to Part II of my Artist Point review.

But I now must get some sleep, so Part III (The Conclusion) will have to wait until tomorrow. ;)

:wave2: Good Night Everyone and Sweet Dreams of Delicious Disney Food!

Part II is making me feel extremely mixed emotions. I would've loved that salmon dish, since I'm a huge fan of Artist Point's cedar plank salmon (and also a huge fan of salade niçoise!). Salade niçoise is normally served with tuna, but I love the idea of modernizing it and changing up the fish. That dish would definitely earn a Tink from me. :goodvibes

On the other hand, there isn't much hope that your DDs will like Artist Point. They didn't like the sound of any appetizer (I could easily scarf down the mushroom soup, beets, mussels, or oysters), and they weren't impressed with their meat dishes (the most important part of the meal). Oh well - with your whole family against AP, I have a feeling you'll be skipping it next time. :sad2:

Those steaks look quite delicious! I'm sorry to hear they each disappointed. :sad1: I've long wanted to try that mushroom soup, but the entrees have never appealed to me as much. Perhaps someday we'll get to AP and I can order a few bowls of soup and dessert. Sounds heavenly to me!

And I loved your asides on Pocahontas! You've got me wanting to watch it for the first time in ages as well!

Thanks for sharing your families walk down memory lane with us! I love watching old Disney movies that we haven't seen in a long time.

I'm a little nervous about your daughter's choices for AP since Em was going to order the steak or bison again. I'm not decided although I may have gone the steak route as well. Hmmmmm.... I may go for something totally un-Brenda and order the salmon. (I don't eat fish too often but love seafood that is creepy crawly and is served with heads on sometimes!!)

I'm just glad that they don't have the same pork dish on the menu they had several years ago. It was tasteless... actually what is worse than bland??? It was whatever that word is. :confused3

Looking forward to the conclusion. Once again a very fine review and I love the commentary on life in your household thrown in for good measure! :thumbsup2

Can I just say that I've had dreams about that salmon from AP?! It's seriously the best salmon dish I've ever had in my life. But the rest of my family also thought it was just ok except for my dad, who ordered the buffalo steak and he liked his meal. Come to think of it, I also had the berry cobbler and loved that as well.

hmmm.... so maybe we'll stick to the original plan and do Flying Fish. I had thought about switching because we do FF every trip, but maybe not.
