This is your 24th Anniversary? But you're so young!~A 5/12 TR!*PTR link pg 49, 9/14!*

Jen, you should at least give 50's PTC a try. I've had 2 very different servers on my visits there as well. On our honeymoon, Greg and I were a little more reserved and I think our waitress picked up on the vibe (either that or she wasn't as into her character role). When I visited with my sister, our waiter was a riot! He had us in stitches and my sister and I still laugh about it. It was one of my most memorable moments in Disney, without a doubt!

The food is delicious (I recommend the fried chicken and a PB&J shake) and it's a dining experience you really can't get anywhere else besides Disney. :)

P.S. Your chicken parm looks AMAZING. I have the Disney blues, BAD! I wish Greg and I could squeeze in (and afford!) a quick fall trip this year but I just don't think it's feasible with our house on the market and my new job (I work nearly 55 hours this week between both jobs! :scared1:). When it comes down to it, though, I'd rather wait until next fall when we'll (hopefully) have more money and I'll be able to anticipate the trip which is ALMOST as much fun as the trip itself.

I am so glad you were feeling better. And such a nice dinner and relaxing (even if wet) evening.

DHS at night is so much fun. To me, it's a little more adult-centered. Not that I don't adore MK, but I like that I can go to DHS and feel like my age. :confused3

All your food at Mama Melrose's looks delicious. I finally mastered the art of cooking chicken parm, and I'm like you, if I need an Italian meal, chicken parm is my go-to dish. :rotfl2:

That Chirstmas shop really is never open!

I agree, DHS at night definitely is more for adults! Same with Epcot! I love MK too, but sometimes it's nice to have a drink and run around the parks! (Haha, of course, I say that, but I end up hardly ever drinking at Disney! I'm lame, what can I say? :rotfl2:)

Mmm I love chicken parm, I could probably eat it every day of my life! Mama Melrose's is so good, I'd like to try something different someday, but it's hard when you know they have something you really like!

Haha, I know right? :rotfl2: I'll have to check during the day sometime!

Glad to hear you were able to fully revive yourself. That was one scary moment, I can tell!

Good to know the rain wasn't as bad this trip as in last ones, always a plus. :-) That Chandelier in Mama Rose's is pretty cool! Really wish I had made ADRs for that place last time I was in the world. And don't ever find yourself saying your boring for ordering the same thing every time at your favorite restaurant. It will always ensure you have an enjoyable experience even if it is nice sometimes to try new things. But boy, does the chicken parm and the cheesecake look good! :goodvibes

I love those little Muppet hats! I want one so bad. But your friend likes the Muppets but DOESN'T like Disney? I'm so confused here lol Sorry you didn't get a good batch of Vinylmations at the Muppet shop. I really hope this won't be my luck when I start Vinyl trading.

Tune-In Lounge, never heard of that name before in relation to Disney... Well, it's a bar so probably the reason why, but what is the name of the TS connected to it? Looks a lot like 50s to me... because I love that cozy home-style atmosphere. If it is 50s, which I'm pretty sure now, don't cancel your reservation. I'm sure you will have a lot more fun with the antics than you think, I haven't heard one bad complaint yet.

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Thank you, it was horribly scary! I seem to always have one heat related issue in Disney on every trip lately, it's getting annoying! I should stick to the late Fall/Winter months from now on! :rotfl2:

You should definitely go to Mama Melrose's the next time you are in Disney, it's really good! I love all of the cute decorations they have in there, and of course, the food is great too! It just has that old Italian restaurant feel to it, which I love!

Haha, no, my friend is not a Disney fan, but she loves the Muppets! Weird, right? I guess she doesn't think of the Muppets as Disney characters! Another friend and I are trying to convince her to come with us someday to Disney, we're trying to convert her, but so far, no luck! :sad2:

Yep, Tune In Lounge is a bar, connected to 50's PT! It's really cute, it looks just like a 50's living room or something! Ahhh, you guys really want me to keep my 50's ADR don't you? :rotfl2: I will seriously think about it, I mean, I should just do it and have fun with it! :cool1:

I'm so glad you woke up feeling better! And had a great night in DHS too.
I have to say that I love Stringbean's beaker hat, but the Animal one is calling to me...

Thank you! DHS is so much fun at night!

I love the Beeker hat, I really want one, but I'm not sure if I'd wear it! Now if they made a Bean Bunny hat, forget it, I'd be all over that one! :rotfl:

Jen, I'm glad you woke up feeling better and that you enjoyed your meal at Mama Melrose. I've never understood why it consistently gets bad reviews. We've never had a bad meal here really (our last visit it wasn't quite as good, but I think a lot of that was we were exhausted as we'd been up at 3:30 in the morning).

Great photos of the Studios. As you know, it is my least favorite park, but I agree with you that it really is pretty at night.

Thank you! That's so weird, I never see MM get bad reviews...I see Tony's get bad reviews, but never MM! Weird! We have always enjoyed it, so we keep going back, but I think I'd like to TRY to be brave in November and give 50's PT a try! :cool1:

DHS is so beautiful at night, I love it there so much!

I love the title! It's short, to the point, and really, it's what we all needed to know after your heat scare! :thumbsup2

Oooh I'm anxious to hear about your changed trip plans!

It sounds like that nap was a great idea, especially since you woke up feeling better!

I feel the exact same way about DHS! It's so unique, and I LOVE IT.

God, can you believe I've still never been to Mama Melrose's?! That food looks so good, and I desperately want to try the kids' cupcake that looks like spaghetti and meatballs! :rotfl:

The Terrace was open last week! :) It looked like it had a good menu, but it was full of stupid teenie bopper tour groups, so we passed.

Oooh, really? See I never go to Disney in peak times, which is why I will probably never see it open! Ugh, tour groups *shudder*! :rotfl:

Haha, ohhhh...you guys are really making me think I need to keep this 50's ADR! I suppose I will, I mean, I guess I'm building it up in my head too much and freaking myself out, but when I need to be crazy and outgoing, I can be! I guess I'll just play along and have fun with it instead of dreading it, it is Disney after all! :rotfl:

I wish you could go to Disney this year! Have you given any thought to a long weekend trip? Say, Veteran's Day weekend? :rolleyes1 You can get Free Dining if you check in on the 9th, you would get Food and Wine the 9th-12th AND see some of the amazing Christmas decorations...and I'll be there...:wave2:

I am so glad you were feeling better. And such a nice dinner and relaxing (even if wet) evening.

Thank you! It was a great dinner, all around great evening so far! The rain didn't even bother me, it was cool and refreshing on such a hot humid night! :thumbsup2

I love the title! It's short, to the point, and really, it's what we all needed to know after your heat scare! :thumbsup2

Haha, ugh, you know, when I decided to do these Friends-inspired titles, I thought they would be SO easy to think of, but some of them are really tricky! Like this one! :rotfl: But yeah, gets the point across!

I think you're going to love our new trip plans, I'm really excited about them! I was excited about December, but I'm even more excited about this new trip! I'll be doing my next update on Thursday, and I'll tell you guys about the new trip then! (And yes, Thursday is a significant day, concerning the November trip! :cool1:)

I love DHS so much, I could probably live there! Well, I'd like to live in the World Showcase, but maybe I could have a little vacation home in DHS or something! Somewhere in the back, near the Streets of America, so I could see the Osborne Lights every single day!

You should try MM someday, it's really good! I know you love your Sci-Fi, though! I'm trying to find a place to fit in Sci-Fi for November, but I'm having such a hard time!

Thank you, me too!!

That's funny that you always forget about MM, there are so many Disney restaurants that I forget about that I always want to try! We just seem to have this habit of going back to our favorites! :rotfl:

Haha, I know right? As soon as I saw that hat I thought of her!

OMG I feel like if I told them I was shy, I'd make it worse for myself! I think if I go to 50's, I'll play along and just die of embarrassment after we leave or something! Or who knows, maybe I can just get over myself and have a good time! That's what Disney is all about, after all! :dance3:

Thank you!! :goodvibes

I really like Mama Melrose's, I mean, it's not the best Italian food, but it's good, and it is definitely way better than Tony's! Maybe someday you can convince your DH to go back! :thumbsup2

The Tune In Lounge is kind of hidden, I mean, that sign is outside, but other than that, you can just walk right past it! It's really cute, I'm glad we found it, it's one of Brandon's favorite places now!

Thank you! Mama Melrose's is really good, you should try it sometime! Haha, yes, yummilicious can definitely be a word, because that's what my cheesecake was! :cool1:

Yes, *Sigh*. Riding ToT all night does sound fun, doesn't it? :sad2:

OMG I didn't even know Starbucks had almond flavored syrup ever! It's a good thing, because I'd probably go there everyday! I'm already counting down the days until they have pumpkin spice lattes again! :dance3:

I'd love to go to 50's and not have to deal with the antics...I mean, I know they make you set the table and they are kind of rude to you, and I can deal with that, that sounds funny and cute, but I'm not sure I'd like anything over the top! HBD sounds good, Brandon has been begging me to go there, but I just can't fit it in anywhere, ever! :sad2: If it was up to him, all we would do is eat in Disney! :rotfl:

I didn't know what to expect either but I think the wait staff picks up on how far to go with things. Our waitress was very nice and didn't go over board but at the same time had fun with things. My favorite part was when I ordered dessert she brought back my mash potatoes that I didn't finish and put whip cream and a cherry on top. She left and I hid them in my napkin, lol. She was so proud that I "finished" them (she knew they were in my napkin) that she brought me my smores dessert. The smores were so good that the family next door commented how happy I looked eating them and they wanted to try them too, lol. I would definitely go back, it was fun and those smores :cloud9: are just awesome!

The antics at 50's PT scare me, too. I've been there once and it was fun, but I was with some very outgoing people that time. I think me and Jeremy aren't fun enough to go on our own. :rotfl:

I highly recommend Jiko! Everything we ordered there was really good, especially the short ribs, and it really wasn't too exotic at all. Just very tasty. :thumbsup2

:offtopic: Hey stranger...I've missed you around here.

I'm all caught up now. We just got back from our WDW/Boston trip at 3:30 this morning. I'm posting from bed because, as DH said, I had too much fun and got sick the last couple of days. Better in Boston than in Disney, though.

So glad you got over the heat stroke/prostration. My sister was admitted to the hospital for heat stroke a couple of years ago (she's a letter carrier, so she didn't even have fun getting it), so I'm glad you took yours seriously.

Those desserts look phenomenal! I need to get on my post-trip diet, but those cookies looked sooo good on the cheesecake. DH went out to pick up a few groceries, so I asked him to get some chocolate meringues from Trader Joe's. That's a reasonable substitute for a Disney dessert, right?

We love 50's PTC. It's one of our favorite places to eat at DHS!!

We also love Mama Melrose. It's strange to see others giving the place a bad review when we love it so much.

So very glad that you got to feeling better! That is awesome that you were still able to make your ADR. I agree that there is just something super cool about DHS. I love it at night, also. We really enjoyed Mama Melrose on our first trip. They have excellent food. You should really try 50's PTC. The food is delicious and the antics really are not that bad. They will give you a hard time but it was nothing embarassing or anything that disturbed your meal. Sam and I both had the Fried Chicken and oh my goodness its DELICIOUS!

Pirates of the Caribbean had a short wait time, so we got in line, and were quickly seated on our boat...and then the CM made 2 guys get in the row with us! Ummm...what? In all the years I've been going to Disney with Brandon, they have never put other people in the row with us. Brandon and I were SO annoyed, it was so awkward sharing a row in the boat with strangers. I could understand if they were busy, but they weren't.

omg I feel the same way! I always ask for my own row, its just too crowded and definitely too awkward! lol

Aww that actually sounds fun! See I can deal with things like that, I just wouldn't want to be picked on too much, you know? But if it's silly things like that, I can handle it! :rotfl:

Kate!! How are you? How are the boys? Glad to see you back, even if is just for a day or two! :goodvibes

Brandon is really outgoing, he can talk to anyone, and he'd play along so I think I'd be ok, but still...I get nervous about those kinds of things! :rotfl2:

I am definitely going to go to Jiko someday, I always hear great things about it!

Ohh, I'm so sorry you got sick, but at least it wasn't in Disney, right? :thumbsup2

I almost thought I'd have to go to a hospital, that's how awful I felt...I'm sure if I kept going I would have passed out! Next time I'll know to take it easy if I ever go when it's that hot again!

Haha, mmm, chocolate meringues sound really good! Definitely a good substitute when there is no Disney dessert around! I've been craving 'Ohana bread pudding lately...I should try making it myself!

We love 50's PTC. It's one of our favorite places to eat at DHS!!

We also love Mama Melrose. It's strange to see others giving the place a bad review when we love it so much.

Wow everyone loves 50's PT! I guess I have to go there!

I love Mama Melrose's too, it's always really good! I'm not sure why people don't like it, it's great!

The One Where I Almost Cry Because My Favorite Ride Is BROKEN!!!!

Hi Everyone! Before I begin my update, I just wanted to tell you a few things...

1. I'm only 99 DAYSaway from my November trip! Finally in double digits! Ahhh I'm so excited, it seems like it took forever to get here! :dance3:

2. A few details about the postponed trip with my sister...we pushed it back to February, so she can run the Half Princess Marathon! :thumbsup2 I wish I had enough time to try to train to do it with her, but since I can't run at all right now, there's no way!

However...I've been wanting to do a Disney 5K for a while now, and the one I want to do most is the Royal Family 5K because it's in Epcot! So I figure since I'll be there, I should just do it! So I'm going to start training for it in September and hopefully by February I'll be ready!

We don't really have too many details of this trip planned yet, so I will fill you guys in as they come along, but guess where we're staying? BAY LAKE TOWER. I cannot wait! I've been obsessing about the Contemporary and Bay Lake lately, so I am really excited to stay here!

Monday May 7, Part 4

So we left the Tune In Lounge just as magic hours were starting! My favorite thing about magic hours at DHS at night is the Tower of Terror. It's the best thing in the World. I cannot even express to you guys the happiness I felt on my first trip with Brandon in 2008, riding ToT over and over with him, just running back and forth between that and RnRC with pretty much no one else in the park, just laughing and having the best time.

However, it seems that magic hours have gotten more popular since that trip (or we just got super lucky with crowds, since it was late September) and a lot of people have the same idea now, go to ToT and RnRC first thing. So we figured we would stay away, do a few other things, and then head over there.

Our first stop was going to be The Great Movie Ride!

P1020366.jpg

(I love the stars, I can't help it, I always take pictures of them!)

P1020367.jpg

P1020370.jpg

There were only a few people waiting when we went in, and we got right on.

P1020373.jpg

We were hoping for the cowboy scene, but as usual, we got the gangster scene! I suppose we could request it someday, but I'm not sure I care that much to wait around for it, you know? If it's meant to be, it will happen!

It was good, I love this ride, but our CM was really weird, I don't know if she was new, or what but she just seemed very unsure of herself! I almost felt bad for her, because it seemed like no one was even listening to her. I wish they would update that ride a little, because there should be a ride like this in DHS, with the history of movies, but they have to find a way to keep people's attention today.

I wanted to check out One Man's Dream again, and I know Brandon likes that a lot, so we went over there and spent a lot of time in there! I've only been in there one other time, and I raced through it, so I took my time this time, trying to look at everything, it's so fascinating!

P1020379.jpg

P1020384.jpg

I spent a lot of time here, watching Walt talk about Epcot, since it's my favorite park and everything!

P1020385.jpg

P1020387.jpg

P1020389.jpg

That castle is so beautiful...I think it's the one from Disneyland Paris?

We finished up wandering around One Man's Dream and decided it was time to check out the Tower of Terror. We walked over and saw that the wait time was still crazy! Ughhh!!! So we did what anyone would do when they have some time to kill...we got a turkey leg!

P1020392.jpg

Yum! Yep I had to continue my tradition of eating a turkey leg at DHS at night! I don't know why I do it, but I do! Did you see that they are making turkey leg air fresheners? Not sure how I feel about that...

Anyway, after we destroyed that turkey leg like some uncivilized cave people, we went back to my beloved Tower of Terror...

P1020393.jpg

only to see maybe 5 CM's standing in front of the entrance, blocking it off! We went closer, and heard them tell people it was closed! Something wasn't working, so they had to close to make sure you know, no one died or anything! Seriously.

I was so upset that I almost started crying right there. I'm not being dramatic when I say that either, I mean, I understand if a ride like the Tower of Terror is malfunctioning, of course they have to make sure it's safe before people can go on it again, but I was just so disappointed. I was looking forward to this for so long and it was just...closed.

RnRC still had a ridiculously long wait time, so we didn't even bother with that. We went over to Pixar Place to check the time for Toy Story and it was 50 minutes. By then it was around 12:15 and I was so sad about the Tower of Terror I suggested we leave and of course, Brandon had no problem with it.

I said goodbye to DHS, assuming this would be the last time we'd be here on this trip

P1020399.jpg

and sadly headed back to the car.

When we were driving back to the Beach Club, Brandon said "you know, we can always go back and go on it another day." That's when I realized he was right...I get so stuck in my plans sometimes that I forget I have the freedom to change them! :rotfl: That immediately cheered me up, and suddenly, the Tower of Terror being closed didn't seem so bad after all! :thumbsup2

I'm sad you didn't get to go on ToT or RnRC, BUT I get the same way and assume it's the "last time", when in reality, it doesn't have to be! haha!!!! :D

LOVE that you got a turkey leg to bide some time!!!! LOL It looks so good too!!!!
Turkey leg air freshners? hmmm

Although I wouldn't be upset if RnR was closed, I would probably have been close to tears myself if TOT was closed.

I love One Man's Dream...so much to see; I want to spend a little longer there this trip.

My DH has to be the voice of reason at Disney, too. I get so emotional about it all, and he has to tell me, "Hey, it's OK!"
When we were on the Great Movie Ride, our narrator had a squeaky voice like Minnie Mouse. Some people were making fun of her, which I thought was just plain rude. I loved our gangster, though, because when we got to the Alien scene, she said, "Oh, God," just like Veronica Cartright does when the Alien pops out. My family all knows I love that part of the movie, so everyone looked at me and laughed. It's a "thing" in our family.

Go for that 5k girl!! I want to do one so bad! I'm gonna try the Couch to 5k program.

EMH at DHS are awesome!! You must have lucked out that first time being able to go back and forth. I think you are right about EMH being more popular now.

I would have broken down in tears right in front of the CM. ToT is my favorite and I wouldn't be able to hold it in. So props to you for not breaking down in tears!!

I hope you get to go on it before you leave.....can't wait for another update!!

More plan changes? :faint: you crack me up - mostly because I can't keep track of all your changes.

I think Feb is a fantastic time to go. In fact, I was toying with that idea, but decided to just stick with my original plan of HHI in the spring.

Congrats on BLT. It's such a great location. It's going to be a little weird for you, being such a BC fan, but its a great change. The room, however, is on the small side. ENJOY!

And good luck with the running. Just remember you will hate it at first. You really will have to force yourself to get out there. Treat yourself to a new pair of running shoes. Its worth going to a specialty store (running store) and have them fit you. I love Asics. I have a wide foot and a high instep and they are the BEST!

Very excited for you!

Boo for TOT being closed!!! Hopefully you were able to ride it another day!

I totally agree about GMR...new movies, new spiel, new SOMETHING! Please! It's a really great ride, with even better potential, but I feel like it's just so wasted!
