Dinner than drink in the hotel bar? Should I bring fudge for snacking on?

Just an FYI -- I did contact the Event Planner at Carmine's (http://www.carminesnyc.com) and she provided me with a fixed price menu that includes the following:
(2) appetizers, (2) entrees, (1) side, Dessert Sampler, and coffee/tea. This would not be in a private area, but the tables could be behind "heavy theatrical drapes". The price would be $60.57 per person, including gratuity/tax and all the other silly fees they throw in... but it does NOT include any beverages (not even soda). I thought that might be a little pricy for some, but wanted you to know what has been presented so far.

As for Virgil's, the price would be $51.55 pp for the following:
(2) apps, (2) entrees, (2) sides, and (1) dessert (all choices are from a catering menu and must be chosen in advance -- same thing for Carmine's).

Both of the prices above are the cheapest packages they offer. I feel it would be less expensive to just order off the regular menu :confused3

Just out of curiosity, how do we all feel about bowling? In a loungy setting, while eating and drinking, of course. Please let me know.

Also, I would love to incorporate GKTW into this somehow. Silent auction? 50-50 raffle? Wheels are turning over here, but would LOVE to hear anyone's ideas... Thanks!

I will be one person only. Food or bowling in a loungy setting with food would be cool with me. Raffles, things like that, also cool. I feel like i'm not helping much here. But they all sound like good ideas.

My husband (Jim aka Wimpy) and I love bowling, so we'd be fine with that. If we did that, we could do something like each donate something like 5 cents a pin for our games that we bowl to GKTW as a fundraiser. Just a suggestion.

Either of the restaurants mentioned would be fine with us too!

Thanks for the responses and ideas! Keep 'em coming :thumbsup2

This is the bowling place I was thinking of. I haven't been to this one, but I've been to the one in Union Square and it's a lot of fun. Just a cool atmosphere, even if you don't want to bowl: http://www.bowlmor.com/timessquare/home.php

I am waiting to hear back from their event planner to see what the details are.

I think any of these ideas sound great. I think something that's more of a lounge atmosphere might offer a better opportunity for everyone to talk instead of being at one or two big tables for a dinner. Of course, we're open to anything. :) I also love the idea of a Silent Auction! It would be awesome if we could get a Dining Review with John & Kevin or an opportunity to record with the podcast team to bid on.

I PM'd you this link earlier, but I thought I'd share it with everyone. I found another venue in the Theater District that has a private room for up to 60 guests. They offer anything from a buffet, 3 course sit down meals to just a cocktail party with appetizers and the price is only $25 to $35 per person which is really good for Midtown West IMO. Here is the link of anyone is interested in checking out the menu:

Thank you SO much for your help and suggestions! I will check this place out from home tonight :thumbsup2

I love this idea! Thank you! :cool1:

We have been there; it's REALLY nice, and much cheaper than bowling. Bowlmor is upwards of $70/person.

Yikes! :scared: I'd rather spend less on the event and have the extra money for an auction/to give to GKTW.

Okay, so far I think the place suggested by Mjaclyn is in the lead! I will try to get more details and report back ASAP. Having a true headcount would help A LOT <hint hint> so please let me know your numbers :goodvibes

Hi everybody :)

Trattoria Trecolori has responded to my request for info. They have availability for 8:00PM in their private room (it will be difficult to get anything before 8pm, due to the pre-theater crowds). The buffet cost would be $30 pp plus 8.875% NY tax and the 20% gratuity (roughly $39 total). This menu does not include any beverages, but does include the following:

INSALATA MISTA
Mixed green salad with red onion, radicchio and julienne carrots
in our honey-herb vinaigrette

ANTIPASTO TRECOLORI
An assortment of Italian cured meats
served with fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil
marinated olives and roasted red peppers

FRITTO MISTO
Our fried medley of calamari, mozzarella en carozza (parmesan-crusted mozzarella), zucchini, and cherry peppers served with marinara sauce

FARFALLE alla PRIMAVERA
Bow-tie pasta with fresh garden vegetables and mushrooms sautéed with roasted garlic and extra virgin olive oil

TORTELLINE alla PANNA MONTATA
Homemade cheese-filled pasta prepared in a parmesan cream sauce with green peas and proscuitto cotto

POLLO SCARPARIELLO
Breast of chicken sautéed with sweet Italian sausage in a delectable rosemary, garlic and wine reduction

SELECT (1) of the following:

Salmon Contadina (Fresh Salmon filet sun dried tomatoes, capers and white wine) OR Veal Trefunghi (Veal scallopine in our Chef’s Marsala wine sauce with porcini, shiitake and portobello mushrooms)

HOMEMADE DESSERT
Choice of (1) of the following homemade desserts served individually to each guest with complimentary coffee and tea

Tiramisu or Ricotta Crème Cheesecake
Served with fresh seasonal berries

This is their private party room:

I need to know if everyone is into this idea, and how many people will be coming. There is a minimum of 25 people required for this set up. Please let me know your thoughts as quickly as possible :goodvibes

Okay, the event planner at the restaurant is going to be sending me the whole proposal shortly. If you haven't gotten me your numbers yet, please do so. Thanks! :thumbsup2

I am in. One for sure. Maybe two if my daughter wants to go but I won't know for sure until she gets back from camp on the 17th. One question - will there be other teens there?

No one has really volunteered that info, but I am fairly certain that it will be all adults. One person PM'd me about bringing 2 small kids, but I don't know of any teens.

If anyone would like to chime in on this question, please feel free :goodvibes
