Need help deciding condo or townhouse

I'm getting ready to book a condo or townhouse for our June 2013 trip & can't decide which one we should choose. I'm using Dave Robinson's site, just because it is easier to me (more like booking a hotel) than dealing with VRBO. A townhouse will run $200 more than a condo. Is it worth it? Is the splash pool worth the extra? Are the townhouses closer to the pool than the condo's usually? Idk, the deal he has on the condo is such a steal, the deposit itself would pay for half of it. Is the public pool at Windsor Hills very crowded? Anything you can tell me, please do. Even another site that offers a good rate & lets you pay on it over time.

I wish they had Universal decorated condo's. We are not going to Disney at all this time. Thanks.

That all depends on how much you want that splash pool. I have a pool at home, so for me, I would not want to spend that extra $200 for a splash pool. For someone who doesn't have a full size pool outside their door, they may want it. Do you see what I am saying? It is up to what you want. Will it be worth $200 to you to have that outside your door, or can you deal with walking to the main (larger) pool area which will be shared? Write the pro's and con's down on a piece of paper and make your decision.

I should be more specific I guess. How big is a splash pool? My kids are older, not little so would they even be able to really do anything in it to begin with? I'm leaning towards the condo just because of the price (DH & I are planning a 20th anniversary trip to Disney that August).

We just got back from a stay at the Windsor Hills and my kids loved the splash pool. They are 5, 7 and 9. It's not a big pool, so if your kids really want to swim or jump, then it might not be worth it to rent the townhouse. The clubhouse pool is large with a water slide. We were there for 2 weeks at the end of June/ beginning of July and the clubhouse pool was very crowded at times. Of course, my kids still wanted to go to the clubhouse pool so they could get ice cream from the little convenience store and play some video games at the game room!

Go for the condo! We stayed in a TH there and did not use the splash pool at all. My children wre all teenagers then and not interested. They were 16, 14, 13. I, too, am looking at June 2013 and trying to decide what to do .

The splash pool is more like a glorified hot tub size (actually bigger than hot tub but that's what it reminded me of).

I was thinking the same thing after I posted! I thought, man, it sure was nice to be able to park at the door. If I got a comparable price I would probably choose the townhouse so I guess I'm wishy washy LOL!

What time does the clubhouse pool close? We rented at Crestwynd Bay this summer and some nights we didn't get back in time to swim. I mentioned to DH that if we stay offsite next time that we should book a place with at least a splash pool so the kids can cool off when we get home.

Most owners list their splash pools as 12'x12'.

After doing the condo thing and looking at the townhouse thing, we ended up going with a pool house just down the road at Indian Ridge Oaks. We paid about the same for a house with a full size pool as we would have for a townhouse with a splash pool. Boy what a difference! It was so nice to have the pool right there so the kids could swim to their hearts content without having to either walk/drive over to a community pool. We could watch TV, read, or nap while they swam until they were all pruney. The house also had a game room which kept them occupied. We spent $700 for week (including tax and cleaning). Unless I just cannot afford the couple of hundred extra dollars, we won't be staying in a condo or townhouse again!

Very true. If you expand your search options (from a 3 br to a 5 br) you might be pleasantly surprised to find a larger house with a pool and the rate could be comparable to what you were budgeting for a condo. And the owner may be willing to negotiate or lock off a bedroom or two. You never know.

I agree that you should expand your search. I am renting a 5 bedroom, 4 bath house with pool, hot tub and game room for the same amount I got quotes for condos and townhouses.

I saw several houses that were decorated for Universal

Agree with the house too. Kids are older and they loved just hanging around their own pool whenever they wanted and not walk to public pool.
