Best time of day to do Wild Africa Trek?

We are hoping to do the Wild Africa Trek in a few weeks. I'm wondering if there is a 'best time' of day to do the tour. It looks like the options are 9 am; 10 am; 11 am or the afternoon. Any suggestions?

I would think earlier would be better.

The hotter it is, the less active the animals are.

Thanks for that - again, it just backs up beliefs about Hand santizers being practically useless. These results are done using the NORWALK virus as mentioned in above article:

Results of hand cleaners: The results reported were for the RNase treated samples only, so this data reflects the effects of the cleaners on live infectious virus. Compared to the baseline control, the liquid hand soap had the greatest reduction in NV cDNA (0.67 Log 10), followed by the reduction from just a simple water rinse (0.58 Log 10). The alcohol based sanitizer reduced the virus the least, only 0.27 Log 10.

To the OP: don't let the article put you off! I'm sure all necessary precautions have now been taken.

I would go in the morning when its cooler :)

Thanks for the replies. My thought was mornings would be better too.

Appreciate the link to the article. Always great to be informed. I'm willing to bet Disney has things cleaner than ever on the Wild Africa Trek. Plus, if one were ever to go on a real safari, I'm not sure how 'clean' that is either.:rotfl2:

I've heard that animals are sometimes more active in the am. Not sure if that's true or not. But I do know that Disney is offering a $50 discount on this tour for start times after 11:45am. I was going to take it next month, but of course it's not included on the Premium plan.

We are booked for a 9:30 tour on Aug. 13 and can't wait. They are offering a $50 discount for tours after 11:45 but there is no way I would want to be out there at that time in Aug. If you haven't booked this tour yet you should probably call and see if there are any openings left for the date(s) you are thinking about since the tour is limited to 12 people/tour and I was told it is extremely popular and books fast. We booked ours back in Feb. As far as the illness that has been talked about, I am not worried in the least. At this point I am sure Disney has taken every precaution and the cause will probably never be found.

Anyone been on the wild africa trek in the middle of November? We are going and wondered how early we should get tickets?

I volunteer at my local zoo, and we always recommend that people take advantage of the cooler morning hours. The animals tend to seek out the shade as the day gets hotter, so you're more likely to see more animals (and have them be more active and walking around) in the morning when it's cooler.

T&C Loves Disney - if you know the date you want I would call now. We booked ours at just under 180 days. You do have to pay the tour at the time of booking and they require a 2 day notice if you want to cancel.

Thanks for the advice, we went ahead and booked an 8:00am tour, we want to see the animals when they are moving about. Animal kingdom is by far my DH favorite park:thumbsup2
