Hot Dog! Hot Dog! Hot Diggity Dog! ~Upated 12/15 Darn! That's the end!

I chose to rent this vacation home for a few reasons. Price, price, and price! That is totally huge for us, I am still a student paying tuition and not working. The house is amazing non the less and has 4 bedrooms that includes a king master bedroom, queen second master bedroom, and two other bedrooms with twin beds each. Tim and I get some privacy, my mom gets privacy, the boys get their own room and so do the girls. It has a private and enclosed pool, game room, and it’s fully loaded with all the necessities of a home. Including my own washer and dryer!

It is going to be fabulous! For the first time my room will not be decorated with laundry hanging all over the place due to poor dryers found on site at most Disney resorts.

For our next WDW trip we are also considering offsite. The price point to stay onsite is getting ridiculous! I have a family of 4, so we fit in the rooms. We are planning another summer trip during no discount season. It just seems like a lot of money without a lot of perks.

I agree, my DD and I just booked our room for our trip in Sept and even with her cast member discount the price seems insane. We were wondering if it was just us or did the rates actually get really high recently? I guess it's not just us.

I've got your back too! Better staying off site and getting to go than not going at all!! I've often wondered how people with large families can afford to stay on-site!

I was warned about the dangers of letting the Dis world know that we are staying off site. I have had my share of people bullying me here and I choose to post in safer waters. I have no issue with people knowing we have rented a house. I know you all will have my back in case anyone dares to post negatively on my TR. :goodvibes: But we are just a happy bunch over here and I am NOT looking to start anything like that, just saying.!

I can't believe people would bully you over your choice of accommodations! What's the matter with some people?

We stay on site because the one time we stayed off site we kept getting lost. We both have terrible senses of direction. We also lost the car in the parking lot a few times. I remember holding my daughter, hobbling around the parking lot because my feet hurt for about an hour until we finally found the rental car. So staying on site was a Godsend for us but I know you can get much nicer accommodations offsite for less money.

Disney likes us, I mean really likes us and this time around found that I had not one but 4 coveted codes attached to our name when we were in the looking and pricing stage of planning. 30% off any resort, free dining, free water parks options and more with a package, and one other I just can’t remember.

Wow! That's a lot of pin codes.

I even have PAPER tickets, gasp!

Say it ain't so!

We have paper tickets because we have annual passes and for some reason they think the tickets you keep for a year should be made of less sturdy material than the tickets you use for a week.

I actually enjoyed the wheeling and dealing with one owner. She couldn’t go any less, blah blah blah, and when I told her I did find a home less than hers, she miraculously could go lower, but not as low as Nebo trying to win a bottle of Boons Farm in a game of limbo.

:lmao:

Great update!

I have friends who stay offsite renting a house. They have kids and always have her parents with them, so having a lot of bedrooms is easier for their family. I've seen the pictures from their trip last month and I have to say I'm tempted. What will finally get me to do that is the enclosed private pool. What kept me from renting for November is free dining.
Anyway, we do have your back!

There are some pretty heated threads in the community section of the boards. I didn't post there about MY accomodations, but people do and they get slammed. I have posted other things in the past and whoa, wished I never have. That is why I love the few places I do post, great people to hang and laugh with. A poster on this thread did warn me however and I knew what he meant.

Great update!

Thanks again Laura!

Oh my goodness! Well, I'm surprised I remembered my username and password I haven't been on here in so long!!! Shame on me! But I couldn't resist posting, and hopefully I'll be able to keep up. However, working full-time, trying to get a business off the ground, raising an almost 2-yr-old, and living about 30 minutes from WDW ;) keep me busy!!!

Hey, you know what other type of passes are paper... AP's baby! Ain't no shame in paper tickets! :rotfl:

Also, I am SUPER EXCITED to see you while you are down here!!! :hyper: :woohoo::banana:

Hey Lady H! How was your birthday? Mr H take care of you?

My birthday was great! I had to work, but i took Friday off and had a wonderful massage. Mr. H did take good care of me. He purchased said massage for me, which was the best treat a girl can have (besides chocolate and diamonds of course ;) ). Thanks for asking!

Now I'm gonna try to get some work done this morning so I can catch up on the latest chapter and comments later. :surfweb:

Yes, a lesson I learned. Sometimes I still chime in on those threads, but mostly I avoid them. I remain smug with my knowledge that owning offsite allows me to afford to go back a whole lot more often. I still like to think that in the end I get to absorb MORE Disney magic in the long run than the average onsite person, and I am pretty sure that Disney manages to absorb more of my wallet with my increased trip frequency. Always happy to do my part to keep the Orlando economy humming and to contribute to Marita's IRA! :goodvibes

Hi guys! So good to see you all over here, tee hee!

I lured them, reely.
::yes::

I'm here too! ;)

Your husband sounds awesome

Hi Tim nice to meet you

This is Mal when she was 2. My favorite all time clip of her! We were at Hollywood and Vine Sing and Dine in Hollywood Studios. Don't even know if this exists anymore.

So cute

People need to worry about themselves and not where someone is staying.

Monica - I just booked our trip for June 20th-29th 2013!

Hi  Laura! Excited for you! Is that the Star Wars weekend time frame? We were there for that before I knew things, and it was awesome! Would love to go back during that time again.

Marita: Well, considering I purchased a ton of WDW gift cards at Kroger during 4X fuel points, I'm sure that made up for me not staying on site. Your IRA is still fine and kushy!

Hey, is this Lynda from previously southern Illinois?
Huh? Huh? Remember our intimate encounter on the Poly beach,,, and I got great shots of you and the rest of a motley group of Dissers? If it is,,, well,,, HI. And how's Josh? If not, well,,, just ignore the ramblings of an old man.

Life can't be any crazier over here! My son Zack had an emergency appendectomy at 2:30 in the morning!

9 days before our Disney trip!

He is recovering nicely and I hope he comes home today.

I guess this means he gets a few extra Mickey bars.

OMG - here's hoping for a speedy recovery for Zack before your trip. :goodvibes

Please make sure you keep a good eye on him at the parks. Both my kids have had incidents of pushing themselves too far because they wanted to keep having fun with injuries. We all regretted it the next day when we couldn't do what we planned that day at all while they recovered.

I figure if you love Nebo and Smidgy, this report needs to be added to my list! I totally get staying offsite. There is a big price difference for a large family. ::yes::

I hope Zack recovers quickly!!
