When Ducks Attack&Monorails Don't Work! A July '12 TR **new 3/17

Thursday, July 5th

After we all decided what we wanted, my parents waited to order while my brothers and I went upstairs to find a table. Joey and I sat down and Johnny went back downstairs to tell our parents where we were, and ended up just waiting with them.

While we were waiting, a CM came over to our table and wiped out table down for us and chatted with us. He asked where we were from and then noticed there were two teenagers at the table behind us and asked if we knew them, we told him no and once he finished cleaning the table he started talking with the other two at the table behind us and he goes "you and your boyfriend aren't from north carolina?" and the girl goes "no we're from Los Angeles, and that's my brother"

He was very entertaining, too bad I forgot his name :/

Soon after the CM left, my parents and brother came back with the food! Normally, I just get chicken nuggets when we eat at Columbia Harbour House because I'm usually not in the mood for sea food after being in the heat all day. But I had decided to change it up.

I got the Chicken Breast Nuggets and Fish
DSC02933.jpg

Can you see them under all those fries? lol!

Johnny got Chicken Breast Nuggets (8 pieces)

Joey got the Fried Shrimp Basket, which he LOVES
DSC02934.jpg

My mom got the Kid's Tuna Sandwich
DSC02935.jpg

and my dad got the Kid's Chicken Nuggets
DSC02936.jpg

Which he said tasted like cardboard. From here on out, my dad become known as the "scavenger" he would eat whatever the rest of us couldn't finish, no food went to waste this trip!

After a good meal we made our way to Fantasyland to see the new stuff!

Dumbo looked pretty cool, but we didn't ride it, the wait was crazy long.
We also checked out the Barnstormer and all the new decorations, we didn't ride that either because the line was also too long for a 20 second ride

I enjoyed the posters we walked by on our way back out of Fantasyland

We headed over to BTMRR
DSC02958.jpg

DSC02959.jpg

We got FPs for it, and then waited by the exit because Joey wanted to go see what was making this weird noise
While we were waiting, a man walked by and noticed my dad's Yankee hat. He goes "You from New York?" and my dad told him he was originally. So the man handed my dad a card and was like "it's good for the rest of the day here" and then left
DSC02960.jpg

We really should have asked him what exactly it was, because we weren't entirely too sure and felt kind of bad using it since none of us had a problem where we would need to use the wheelchair entrance or something like that (since we assumed that's what it was for, since it says Guest Assistance). We didn't use it, but it was a really nice gesture!

Anyone know what "ST" stands for on the card? It says "Location of Issue" and then has ST marked... we knew what all the other ones stood for, but could not figure out ST! Any ideas?

Mmmmm... the food at CHH looks really good! I may have to check that place out and the Chicken Breast Nuggets and Fish! :thumbsup2 to going to check out the new Fantasyland, looks great in your pictures, a shame the lines were so long though :/ So nice of the man to give you that pass, but yeah that is one weird thing to give to a person especially when you don't need special assistance... and I wonder if ST stands for DHS because the other ones look like they are name for parks. Strange, very strange...

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Joining in! What a great start to your trip the food looks really good! Columbia is on my list of places to try in August.

CHH has great food, I enjoyed it :-) It was really a kind gesture, I don't think it stood for Hollywood Studios, because there was an option for DHS on there I think... ST looks like street to me lol

Welcome! Thank you- I hope you get to eat there in August!

After we were given the Guest Assistance card that we never ended up using, we made our way back to Tomorrowland for a go around on the Carousel of Progress
DSC02962.jpg

The theater parts of the ride really needs to be redone, the carpet is stained and gross and so are the chairs... but it's a nice, relaxing, air conditioned ride

Next, we tried our luck with Buzz Lightyear! There wasn't a wait at all, which was awesome!
DSC02967.jpg

DSC02968.jpg

If you watched my trip video from the first post, you'd see our experience on Buzz... of course my score ended up being around 2,000 while everyone else's scores were over 100,000. I hate that ride with a passion, I'd much rather just sit there and spin around and look at all the cool scenes while everyone else shoots.

Now, it was finally time to use our FPs we had gotten when we first got to MK.
DSC02975.jpg

I ended up in the second row ~foreshadowing the end of the trip~

As we got off Space Mountain, Wishes was going on. So we took a seat at a table and watched the rest of the show, since there was no point in getting to where we were trying to go until after the fireworks show.
DSC02977.jpg

DSC02976.jpg

DSC02978.jpg

We stayed where we were for a little bit so we could let the crowds thin out, since most people would be leaving. After waiting a little bit, we made our way over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!

TIP #2 Riding BTMRR at night is 10000000 times cooler than riding it in the day time, I'm not sure what it is that makes it so cool, it just is! Defiantly go for a night ride on BTMRR!

We decided that this would be it for us, we started walking back towards the front of the park. When we finally exited THIS was what we saw
DSC02982.jpg

Since that doesn't give you the clearest idea, let's just say the lines for the monorail were PACKED they were so backed up. Even the resort monorail's line was horrendous! It was so backed up, if we decided to wait in line it would take a good hour just to get up there to the monorail station.

So, we made a brilliant move and decided to walk back to the Contemporary. I was tired, my feet hurt so badly, and I didn't want to walk another step, but it was better than waiting in line for the monorail. Totally not worth it when you're just one stop away from the Magic Kingdom. I'm glad we walked back, even though it felt like it took forever and at some parts of the walk you're hit with this gross smell from somewhere LOL

We made it back to the room at 11:30, took our showers, and fell asleep because we were in for an early morning tomorrow!

Love Carousel of Progress, but I must agree, the ride needs some cleaning and refurbishment. I mean, the triple mountain whammy shouldn't take all the love? ::yes:: And I'm the exact same way on Buzz, I don't exactly hate the ride, but I just don't get why people are so good at it and I'm so... not. Like I'm awesome at TSM, but terrible at Buzz :confused3

:thumbsup2 to riding Space Mountain! Love your pictures of Wishes, such a pretty fireworks show. I got to agree on BTMRR again, it is a lot more fun at night than during the day especially with the crowds dying out. :) Wow, those are some crazy crowds getting on the monorail, good thing you guys walked even if you were tired out. Hope this didn't translate into the morning.

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Love COP-It's such a classic and always puts me in a cheerful mood. :)

I'm with you on Buzz LIghtyear---I stink at it -really bad-so I guess I don't enjoy it as much as the rest of my family.

I completely agree that riding BTMR at night is so cool. One time while we were riding it, Wishes was going on, and that was really neat to see the fireworks as we rode.

Yuck at the crowd leaving the park. I love Disney, I really do-but those lines for buses and monorails at park closing just make my head hurt bad!

I'm actually pretty decent at TSM but I completely stink at Buzz, I just don't get how I could possibly be so horrible at it lol!

There's just something about a night ride on BTMRR that makes me happy! The crowds were insane, luckily the rest of the trip was mostly better, but what can you expect besides crowd and heat at Disney in July? haha

My whole family loves it, probably because they all do so well, I just suck it up for one ride!

That's awesome to get to ride it during Wishes, I think a few years ago we rode that or Splash Mountain during the fireworks and it was pretty cool to watch them from the ride

Totally with you on that, lines are just insane- lines for rides, lines for transportation, lines for anything!

great update - that walk back to the CR isn't so bad is it? I love your Mickey ears, are those the girl sized ones - do they pinch your head bad? I want those for my daughter, mom, and I for our next trip!

It's not that bad, it just feels long when you're walking home and all you want is to lay down lol!
Thank you, I got them a couple trips ago so they're not like the ones that Disney sells now (those are all sparkly and the bow is made out of a different material, I think mine are better hehe) I don't know the size but they don't hurt my head, they're a perfect fit :-)

Hello! Joining in. My DH and I live in NC too. :goodvibes

Oh how I miss the Contemporary! We have stayed there twice and we love it. We're staying at POP in November because we're trying to save money. BUT, we're going to get APs this year. And I'm one who would rather go more often and stay at the Values than go less often and stay Deluxe. Lucky girl though - that walk to MK is what makes the resort for me.

When we stayed at CR in May 2010, the CM circled the wrong area on our map too for our room. That's weird.

My husband does the same thing as your dad with my food. It's great because I don't have to feel bad about wasting food. I just know that if I don't want it, it WILL get eaten!

Looking forward to more!

We've got so much in common! I agree, I'd rather go often and stay at values then go less and stay Deluxe... but I do enjoy the Deluxe resorts a little too much :rolleyes1

Really? Maybe Disney needs to offer a "How To Circle the Correct Room on the Map for Guests" Class lol

It's good to know food isn't going to waste! Especially Disney food

July 6th, 2012

For three teenagers, waking up early- especially during summer, isn't the easiest task. My parents are able to wake up with ease, get coffee, get ready, and relax before my brothers and I are even awake.

The previous night, we had decided to go to Epcot for EMH (8am-9am), which we usually never do morning EMH, we're typically night EMH people. But, you can get so much more done in the morning than at night.

To make it to Epcot at time, that required my brothers and I to wake up at 6:50 am. Imagine how it's going to be in a month when I have to start waking up at 6 am again for school? Usually I sleep in until 11:30

We had all (or, well at least I did, I'm assuming everyone else also did) showered the night before so that we could save some time in the morning.

Finally we were ready to go! We took the monorail over to the first stop, which was the Ticket and Transportation Center. As we made the familiar walk over to the Epcot monorail, the people in front of us were talking to a CM and seemed a little distraught. The CM told them that the Epcot monorail was not working or something was wrong with it, so they were bringing in buses to Epcot.

We followed the people ahead of us to the make shift bus stop where tons of other people were waiting. When the bus finally came, we of course had to stand.

The bus ride wasn't too long and we were finally at Epcot!
Because of the bus delay, it was a little after 8, but not that bad!

Our first stop? Soarin, along with everyone else in the park!
We got some FPs and avoided the already long wait line.

DSC02990.jpg

Since we were already in the building, we decided to ride Living With the Land. It's very relaxing, and I enjoy seeing all the food! Plus, there's never any line

I love the hot air balloons that represent the four seasons
DSC02998.jpg

I remember seeing a picture of them in a TR I read a while ago (I can't remember whose, oops) and I was just intrigued with them

Interesting design
DSC02999.jpg

Next, we made our way back to the front of Epcot to take a go around on Spaceship Earth
DSC03001.jpg

After, Johnny and my dad went to look in the camera store nearby to see if they had some plug Johnny needed for his XBOX Live to work in the hotel room, unfortunately for him they didn't have what they needed.

Joey and I played one of the cool games and Mom watched
DSC03004.jpg

DSC03005.jpg

Next, it was time to use our Soarin Fast Passes!
DSC03006.jpg

DSC03007.jpg

We got second row... not as good as the front row, but better than the third row, so I was fine!

TIP #3 (an obvious one!) First row is the BEST, you don't see the people's feet dangling down above you! Although, in the first row you do see the top of the screen and it bothers me a little, seeing a black half circle where the screen stops but that's my weirdness kicking in.

I LOVE Soarin, it's so cool and you actually feel like you're flying through California. One of the best things is going through the orange fields and you can smell it :cloud9: But my absolute FAVORITE part of Soarin happens after the ride. When they tell you to unbuckle your seat belts and EVERYBODY unbuckles them at the same time, making a chorus of clicking sounds... I just love it :goodvibes

I also love how everyone claps at the end of the ride, it's cute

It wasn't quite 11 o'clock (when the countries open up) so we had about an hour and a half to kill before lunch... what to do, what to do?

Up Next: Don't Move a Muscle!

 Just found your newest TR and joining in!

Your TR video was great! I love your brother's expressions on EE :scared1: and when he first saw RnR's take off! I make those same faces! LOL but I am not about to brave RnR yet! I did EE for the first time this last trip May 2011 and I had been looking forward to trying it since I saw it being built in 2004 but DH wouldn't go with me in 2010, so in 2011 I finally had someone to go with me...well let me say it was fun but I won't be in a rush to go back... LOL

Nice room, we stayed there in 1987 (wow a LONG time ago!) in one of the garden wings, it is nice a peaceful over there.

Glad you weren't too late for Epcot EMH despite the delay with the monorail not working.

Love Soarin! I don't mind the feet dangling, it's kind of a funny part of the ride...

Can't wait to read more about your trip!

Every time I read an update about how most teenagers sleep in, I feel so awkward because I'm not like that though I hate waking up early in the morning besides the reason of I just want to, not that I need to. I know I'm strange, move on...

Sorry to hear you had to get up early and the monorails weren't running! I guess I can see where your title is starting to kick in here. But at least you got some nice and early FPs for Soarin'!

:thumbsup2 to Living With The Land, such a nice relaxing ride it is and to Spaceship Earth too. I love the game you guys decided to play, I get way too into it when I play sometimes

So jealous you guys got the first row on Soarin', I always miss the boat on that. I gotta agree about the clapping after the ride is over, probably the reason why I keep on going back just for that.

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum
