Hi guys I just found you :yay: I was afraid there wasn't a thread. The boards have been so busy today I look earlier and saw nothing about AKL lite thread. Guess it had dropped back beyond page three. Thank you Pam for posting a little while ago.

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone. I have been super busy the last three days helping a friend put together everything for a BIG party tonight. Her DD is graduating from nursing school with her RN. :cheer2: There will be 75 guests :)
it should be a blast and there is certainly a lot of good food.

I will be back to read the thread and catch up. Hope everyone is having a great Saturday. :grouphug:

Ann

Congrats to you friend's daughter!

Ann so glad you found us... We are going to have a call to muster soon for all whom did not find us...

:)

Brandi and Alison- I'm so very sorry for your losses this week. Please let me know if I can do anything. It's so tough to lose someone we love.

Thank you, however, Arline surprised us all, and is still with us. They moved her into rehab and out of hospice, and we're going to see how things go with a temporary feeding tube. If she has the potential for recovery, we're giving her the chance. She has some amount of brain damage and loss of mobility, and we'll have to take it day by day.

I wanted to post something happy that has nothing to do with AKL! :rotfl:

As you all probably know, our younger DD lives in the same town we do. She was a theater performance major in college and discovered that a recession is not the best time to enter the arts as a profession. Well, to be quite honest, when is?!?!? Anyway, after graduation 4 years ago she came home for a few months and found a job at our bank here in town. She discovered she has really enjoyed this and has decided to stick with it for a while. But, we all knew that she needed to spread her wings. The time has come!

She and her room mate found an apartment in Alexandria (one hour north of us) and started applying for jobs in the area. As of Wednesday they are both gainfully employed in their chosen areas and they pick up the keys for their new apartment today. :yay: They have 10 days to vacate the apartment here in F'burg so we are going to take a few car loads of things up over the next couple of weekends and that will leave them with just one smallish truckload of big things to move on the 31st.

I have tapped a couple of my HS students who are brawny and not working this summer to help with the load in from this end. I think they ought to be able to handle finding someone to help on the north end of the move too. At least I hope they can because I will be teaching that day and cannot help!

So, today I get to see the apartment. Tomorrow I get to see the apartment. And tomorrow night we are going to see "Batman." Big weekend here! :goodvibes

This is great Elin! And she's not too far from you, she can have her independence but still come home.

The picture was taken to capture as much light from the tree as possible which required that the shutter be open for a long time. The people in the picture if they had sat or stood still would have been there the as "whole" person, but by moving they became blurred images.

good catch on seeing it..

This is what I thought as well.

Just to bring some closure, I wanted to let everyone know that my Uncle is now at rest and I feel at peace, knowing that he is no longer suffering. Thank you all for being such great friends. I truly appreciate it.

I am worried about my father, he is a strong man but feels deeply for his little brother, they have grown very closer over the past couple of years. and he is taking it very hard.

My Dad had cancer a couple of years ago, and was able to find it very early, treat and has been in remission since, is younger brother, did not know he had cancer until it was almost too late, and they tried everything even experimental treatments, and his older sister has been battling cancer for two years now and also has never been in remission. All three of them have had different forms and responded differently that each other.

I think it is just so close to home, know that all three siblings have/had a form of cancer.

I'm so sorry for your dad.

This is amazing news! Prayers that everything goes well!

Alison- sorry for jumping the gun, my reading skills have been a bit off this week. Continued prayers for her.

Brandi - prayers for your father as well. My dad has battled cancer twice in his life, once 35 years ago (colon) and then more recently prostate cancer. Thankfully he came out if both, and I'm hoping your dad can remain just as strong even when it gets tough. If you need anyting, just let me know.

That is so exciting. :dance3:

we did not and I am kicking myself for not staying, but it was a great win... We watched it from the house at the very end.

It took us over an hour to get from the park back home.

Does anyone know when to expect Christmas decorations to go up in November. I've stayed at WL in the past and they would usually go up about 2 weeks into November. I didn't know if this was standard for all resorts or not.

That looks so good! Wish I had a glass of jungle juice right now!

My name is Amy, and I'm joining in on the new AKL Number Eight thread. Thanks for putting it together. It looks great!

I will be at Jambo House from August 15th-20th with my 8 year old daughter, Eve.

We leave Richmond, VA, for Orlando on August 7th. We will spend a couple of nights at All Star Movies, a few nights at Coronado Springs, and a few nights in a Royal Guest Room at Port Orleans Riverside, before checking in at AKL.

Right now, at AKL, we have 2 nights in a standard view room and 3 nights at club level, but I am thinking about changing the reservation to all 5 nights at club level. What do you all think?

Adding club level each night would cost the two of us about the same as adding the Disney Dining Plan per night.

My first thought was to only do club level for the last three nights, when we will be sticking around the resort a lot more. But it would be nice to have a Savannah View room all five nights. And it's hot in August. It would be nice to stay close to the lounge and the swimming pool.

I am just afraid my daughter won't be able to coax me into the parks at all those last five nights, if we do club level the whole time. :rotfl:

What do you all think?

Hi Amy :) I'd say if you're already thinking about it, go ahead and take the plunge. Firstly, CL is so wonderful, secondly the savannah view is so nice. There is so much to do at the resort, Eve might just be content to stay as well.

You have quite the resort line up, sounds like a fabulous trip!

I don't know for sure, but from the Christmas specials I've seen I think all the decorations go up the same time.

Happy Sunday J's & K's - hope everyone is having a great day!! Raining again here.............. honestly, I feel like I'm about to go stir crazy - I need some sunshine!!! :)

Brandi - hugs and prayers for your dad!!!

Alison - glad to hear Arline is showing signs of improvement, continued prayers for all of you.

Elin - congrats to your dd - how exciting to be "starting out" - good wishes to her and her roommate!

Welcome to everyone new - glad to have you around and congrats on your trips!!! :)

Good afternoon, Js & Ks! :sunny:

We got two loads of boxes into the apartment yesterday and the girls are headed up with another load this afternoon. I like the area their complex is in and their apartment reminds me of the one Bob and I started out with 39 years ago! :goodvibes:

Brandi - I know you will be keeping a watchful eye on your Dad to make certain he is fine. You are a good daughter.

Alison - Goodness... Arline surprised everyone, didn't she? I hope all goes well for you all.
