I fell off the ice cream truck...13 days of DDP with pics!*UPDATE: COMPLETED!!*

Breakfast

So today we thought we would head to MK and play... sorcerer's of the magic kingdom

i had no idea what we were getting ourselves into

BUT we had to eat breakfast to keep our strength up.. you will need it.

disney2012507.jpg

French Toast Platter $5.29

OK, now disregard whatever comments i have made about previous french toast.. THIS... THIS... THIS IS WHAT AMAZINGNESS IS ALL ABOUT! this right here is the BEST french toast in disney... they had some crunchy topping and i could have easily eaten 4 more pieces! which is the only downside that they dont just serve you up a whole loaf!!!! i think that should at least be an option LOL.. it also comes with meat... i think i got the sausage.. i don't know why i did because dan doesn't like disney sausage

disney2012509.jpg

disney2012508.jpg

Chocolate Chip Pancakes with side of meat $6.29

SEE now why can't i have four pieces of french toast! Dan got the chocolate chip pancakes, which i think was one of his favorite breakfasts... he eats them without syrup...:confused3 he RARELY uses syrup for any type of breakfast food which i just cant fathom... does anyone else do this? or just my husband lol!

Total: $16.04
DDP: 0 credits
OOP: $16.04

*i still haven't caught on that i should start using my QS for bfast*

Lunch

okay.. let me just take a minute to do a public service announcement:mic:

if you play sorcerers of the magic kingdom.. you may or may not form addictive tendencies towards this game...you will spend 5 hours playing this, you will walk all over the park, you will experience fatigue!!!!

so we wanted to try out this game, basically, you go to the firehouse get a pack of cards (5 each) and then you go around and play the game using ur cards.. we spent 5 hours playing - which is about how long it takes to complete the game... someone wanted more cards.. someone wanted to complete the set so we split up so i could play my own game so i could get more cards...:rolleyes1 lol but i love my husband very much and if it made him happy to collect these cards i would gladly do it..

we did it 3 more times..

total of 14 hours...:faint:

playing this game...

I LOVE MY HUSBAND VERY MUCH .. as you can tell lol!

sometime during the game i needed ice cream..story of my life LOL.. i got another citrus swirl from sunshine tree terrace... i told you they were good! i'm the type of person if i like something, i get it over and over again.. if i find a shirt i like.. i buy it in 6 different colors/patterns...expensive habit lol

disney2012242.jpg

Citrus Swirl - orange slush with vanilla soft-serve ice cream $3.19

Total: $3.19
DDP: 1 snack credit
OOP: $0.00

anyway.. we had lunch at liberty tree tavern

i love liberty tree, the theme, how they say "RESTAINO FAMILY FROM THE GREAT STATE OF NJ" hahaha i love it all!!

disney237.jpg

Angus Chuck Cheeseburger - topped with bacon and cheddar or mushrooms and provolone served with fresh fruit or tavern fries $13.99

and dan kept the mushrooms!?!!?! i was like... you mean your gonna eat that?!?! :scared1: i'm always excited and surprised when my dear hubs tries new foods!

He liked the burger, i don't think it blew him away but it's your typical burger. THEIR FRIES ARE REALLY GOOD, more like steak fries... less like floppy disney fries - dont get me wrong though, i love floppy disney fries.

disney236.jpg

Vegetarian Burger - House-made Potato Quinoa Vegan Patty topped with a fresh Vegan Tofu-Tzatziki sauce with fresh fruit or sweet potatoes fries $11.49

i was really excited to try this! i had just started cooking with Quinoa at home (it's a superfood, really good for you!) .. so i thought this sounded yum! It looks really good when it comes out, but this burger really fell short! The patty was made WAY WAY TO THICK! it should have been thinned out a bit.. it was like in those cartoons where you have this humongous sandwich your trying to put in your mouth. Honestly, this also didn't seem to have much quinoa in it? it tasted like mashed potatoes in a patty form.. it was very mushy.. and with the mashed potato flavor plus the bun.. it felt like i was just eating bread dipped in mashed potatoes (OKAY SO I HAVE EATEN ROLLS DIPPED IN MASHED POTATOES lol only on like thanksgiving.. dont judge haha.. but this was just wrong). So i was really disappointed in this burger :headache: it had potential but someone dropped the ball on this. The sauce has no taste either.. hinted at some cucumber but throw some spices in, palleeeeese

oh and the pickle was the BOMB DOT COM!

disney238.jpg

Martha Washington's Cake - a slice of rich chocolate cake, layered with a liberating chocolate coffee icing $7.99

DANG! martha makes a big ol slice of chocolate cake!!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW BIG THIS WAS! it was your basic chocolate cake.. pretty good

disney239.jpg

Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake - vanilla cake with a gooey toffee filling, vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce $7.49

i had my eye on this ever since i read it on the allears menu! this was YUM, and it had ICE CREAM!!! oh yea oh yea! THE TOFFEE PIECES JUST rocketed this to another level, not to mention it was on top of a giant chocolate chip cookie!!!!!!!!!! actually now that i'm looking at the description it says vanilla cake but this was for sure a thick chocolate chip cookie! so EVEN BETTER!

Total: $51.56

Dinner

We knew we were going to HS so we can see fantasmic, we both LOVE it.. i always tear at the end when Mickey is on top of the mountain and its like... dun dun dunt dun dunt da na na na.. LOL

the only down side about HS is.. their QS really needs an update.. it just does not offer many options.. so we thought we'd get some squishy doughy pizza right across from the fantasmic amphitheater.

Catalina Eddies is in that area right before ToT and RRC.. across from the beauty and the beast theater.

I do think that the pizza you get a disney is a great value because it comes with a side salad.. you can get the same kind of pizza at pizza planet.

disney241.jpg

Cheese Pizza with Caesar Salad $8.99

disney242.jpg

Pepperoni Pizza with Caesar Salad $9.49

the salad was REALLY good, which i was surprised.. it was yummy, not too much dressing just enough!

The pizza .. well it did the job lol.. i would bet my life that all of you have eaten this pizza, and know what i mean. the amount of sauce on these pizza should be illegal.. you can literally drink it with a straw.. but we knew what we were getting into and we accepted it lol.

For dessert i just got the chocolate chip cookie.. which i never ate, again.. lol

Dan tried the
disney243.jpg

Carrot Cake or Chocolate Fudge Cake $3.59

disney244.jpg

this is how much we ate.. he took one bite and ... blech... i took one bite and... double blech.

so SO much bad icing, and it was warm.. and we like carrot cake cold. so this was a big huge fail.. it might be better at a resort where its refrigerated but here it was just left out on the counters.

Total: $29.16
DDP: 2 QS
OOP: $0.00

fantasmic was awesome.. and afterwards we thought we'd jet down to DTD for some, wait for it.. wait for it...

ice cream

OMG, are you like blown away already... 3x in one day.. at this point i have accepted the problem and know i will be going through withdrawal when we get home.

Ghirardelli

we love love love this place, seriously who doesn't!?

disney2012522.jpg

Mint Bliss - one scoop of mint chip ice cream, one scoop of chocolate ice cream, dark chocolate hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and a square of Mint Bliss Intense Dark chocolate $8.95

Dan got the mint bliss which was good, but he regretted not getting the PB one.. which means we will have to come back... shucks :rolleyes1

disney2012521.jpg

Espresso Escape - two scoops of espresso chip ice cream, dark chocolate hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and a square of Espresso Escape Intense Dark chocolate $8.95

LOVE COFFEE.. LOVE ICE CREAM..... this is my personal heaven... stick me in a room with endless ice cream and my keurig and i am good to go!

Total: $21.56
DDP: 0 credits used
OOP: $21.56

IS GHIRARDELLI'S ON THE DINING PLAN?? no clue?

ANYWAYS WHO IS EXCITED FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF FALL FREE DINING!!!! .. if i can't find a teaching job as of september perhaps we will take an anniversary trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

dan if your reading this HINT HINT HINT :rotfl:

I use syrup once in a blue moon. I’m just not a huge fan!

One game of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom takes 5 HOURS?! I just find that crazy.

I cannot wait to try the citrus swirl!

I’m sorry your meal wasn’t good. But I’m glad the pickle was good. At first I was like “It’s just a pickle…” and then I remembered it’s a pickle from Disney, so that automatically makes it better.

The ooey gooey toffee cake looks AMAZING.

I have never been a big fan of Disney pizza.

You had ice cream 3 times in one day? I think we are twins!

I know what you mean about the pizza. it's not great, not bad but you eat it every now and then even though you know what you're getting into! I prefer thin crust pizza myself. I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour with my sister and the tour guide pointed out the place where the majority of the pizzas in the parks are made. If I remember correctly, it's on the top level of a building near Columbia Harbour Hourse. So they make them all there and transport them to the different restaurants. Sorry, just a little piece of useless trivia!

GREAT - seriously GREAT - update :thumbsup2

Just so you know, I don't put syrup on breakfast food either. But then we're from the Uk and we don't tend to do the whole mixing sweet and savoury thing either. I still can't get to grips with haveing pancakes and bacon on the same plate :confused3

OK, I am clearly not the WDW nut I thought I was. This is the second time I have read a trip report that mentions Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom and I seriously have no idea what this is. I need to do some research before we arrive....in 6 weeks :cool1:

And just one more thing...Mint Bliss Sundae :worship::worship: Best ice cream sundae EVER!!!

ETA: One more (one more) thing...that is one HUGE piece of cake :faint:

Sorcerers of the MK game hooked me instantly! #1 I'm a huge fan of collecting things and before we played it I was going all over the parks and stores seeing what I could collect and just couldn't make up my mind on ANYTHING!! :(
BUUUUUUT
Once I heard you can collect 70 cards and I actually had the cards in hand...LOVE AT FIRST SITE!:love::love::love::cloud9:
#2 I'm a HUGE gamer so that drew me in as well and I considered it a video game. The cards themselves are just graphically awesome. I'm an enormous fan of when a whole universe is brought together to defeat villains. PLUS one of my all time faves is the lead character in the story..Merlin! I feel as though he has been underappreciated so I was extremely glad they gave him the spotlight in this game! He is awesome!!!!!

I highly recommend this game if you are like me...and be willing to do alot of walking (or running like i did LOL)! I also found out people that play the game go into Tortuga Tavern to trade at certain times of the day. So I of course HAD to give that a try which was successful because now I only need like 7 cards to complete 1-60!! And the best part is you can still trade with people online through the Facebook page. REALLY COOL! Try it out so you can become a Master Sorcerer like me! :wizard:

And believe me...after all the walking (in the heat and in the rain) that I made Marla do with me...I can not thank her enough!!! I owe her :) and LOVE HER VERY MUCH!! :worship::worship::worship:

Sorry for the review of the game here I know its her Dining Review and I didn't mean to hog any of her spotlight :rolleyes1

Holy delicious update! I don't even know where to start!

I use syrup when I'm eating out usually, but I'm not a huge fan either. At home, I like to top my pancakes with applesauce! DH thinks I'm weird, but growing up we used to make homemade applesauce and put it on pretty much anything bread-y.

disney239.jpg

YES!! That's what I thought when I tried it, it's really not very cake-like, it's a giant, warm, chewy cookie topped with deliciousness! Ohhh your picture makes me drool, I can't wait to try it again. Bummer about your burger though!

LOVE COFFEE.. LOVE ICE CREAM..... this is my personal heaven... stick me in a room with endless ice cream and my keurig and i am good to go!

:worship: You really DO have exceptionally good taste! Coffee ice cream is my favorite...I get it in pretty much every sundae no matter what the toppings are! The BEST combo though is coffee ice cream in peanut butter sauce. Like coffee ice cream in a No Way Jose...HEAVEN!

There is nothing wrong with having ice cream 3 times in one day. And I think it's against the law to pass by Ghirardelli and not get ice cream. We passed one in Chicago and then as I kept talking about ice cream, hubby turned me around and we headed back there even though we were kinda full from lunch.

Chocolate Chip Pancakes with side of meat $6.29

SEE now why can't i have four pieces of french toast! I have to side with your husband as far as chocolate chip pancakes. Syrup is just too sweet for them. But they are great with whipped cream! :thumbsup2

Count me in on the "no syrup on pancakes" train.

I've added the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake to my list of must have for my next trip....which is Nov 27 - Dec 5 with free dining at......POP!!

Loving your reviews!:lovestruc

My son eats his pancakes plain with no syrup, I agree weird! What's wrong with these people. Maybe it has something to do with their names, his middle name is Daniel..

That quinoa burger sounded gross! That's too bad because I love quinoa too! There's this awesome recipe I found for quinoa chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and all I can say about it is IT'S DA BOMB DOT COM!:rotfl:

A little late to this party, but I am in. Just got all caught up. I can do the 3 ice creams in a day, I want to try that when I go down in August!!! :rotfl:

Oh now I really want to go to LTT, the desserts look amazing!!

I would have 100% ordered that veggie burger if I had seen it on the menu so what a shame it wasn't so great :worried:

Great updates as always .............. in your own words DA BOMB DOT COM :thumbsup2

hahaha okay people so from all of your responses i guess i AM THE MINORITY! lol all this time i've been thinking how does Dan go through life syrupless... and little did i know i was the freak show! :clown::joker: LOL j/k! but i think it is so interesting to see others that eat like him... now... should we try another.. Dan also will eat salad without dressing!?!?! :rotfl2: please tell me you all are on my side on this one LOL!

One game of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom takes 5 HOURS?! I just find that crazy.

You had ice cream 3 times in one day? I think we are twins!
oh, you would not even believe this sorcerers bizzznasss.. there is a group of elderly people - mostly on scooters - who live in the area and go everyday... i heard one lady say this was her exercise! you go girrrl! man i would much rather run around Disney that go to the gym lol

i'm glad i have an ice cream twin out there! haha :wave2:

I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour with my sister and the tour guide pointed out the place where the majority of the pizzas in the parks are made. If I remember correctly, it's on the top level of a building near Columbia Harbour Hourse. So they make them all there and transport them to the different restaurants. Sorry, just a little piece of useless trivia!

that is so cool! Dan and i took that tour about 2 years ago, SO MUCH FUN! we got to see the performers for the boo to you halloween parade performing behind the scenes! and it's crazy to see headless characters walking around LOL!

GREAT - seriously GREAT - update :thumbsup2

omg yes! make sure you know what your getting yourself into LOL

There is nothing wrong with having ice cream 3 times in one day. And I think it's against the law to pass by Ghirardelli and not get ice cream. We passed one in Chicago and then as I kept talking about ice cream, hubby turned me around and we headed back there even though we were kinda full from lunch.

haha omgosh, we were in universal on our second day and above one of the rides there is a BIG ghirardelli sign (it's supposed to be themed like in the chicago section) and Dan and i were like :cool1: we don't need to go to DTD, we can just get it here! we're all marching over there excited (even though we have been to US a bajillion times.. we thought this was new.. meanwhile, i'm contemplating how is this possible that Ghirardelli's is in both disney and US but whatevers) well we get over there and... womp womp... it's just a facade! LOL epic FAIL!

I've added the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake to my list of must have for my next trip....which is Nov 27 - Dec 5 with free dining at......POP!!

i am so JELLY! ... i want to go back sooo bad especially with free dining and the fantasyland expansion...

DAN.. HINT HINT...:thumbsup2

That quinoa burger sounded gross! That's too bad because I love quinoa too! There's this awesome recipe I found for quinoa chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and all I can say about it is IT'S DA BOMB DOT COM!:rotfl:

uhmmm, HELLO :wave2: this girl like quinoa and cake and ganache... recipe pleeeeease :worship:

A little late to this party, but I am in. Just got all caught up. I can do the 3 ice creams in a day, I want to try that when I go down in August!!! :rotfl:

this is a great idea! i think next trip i'm going to attempt the impossible (or attempt the ridiculous) i am going to eat at every ice cream location in MK!!! you have just given me a genius idea! perhaps next trip i will have two trip reports... one solely dedicated to all things ice cream! OMG i will have to at least lose 10lbs before that trip to make up for what i will eat in ice cream!!!!!

I will put syrup on waffles. Plain Pancakes I like jam on, occasionally syrup, chocolate chip or blueberry pancakes I will usually use a little butter but otherwise plain. I MUST have salad dressing though!! Plain lettuce? BLAH!

So my hubby is not a huge Disney fan and not really a gamer (although he plays lots of games on his iPhone) Do you think he would like the sorcerers game?

Sorry your burger was not great... But dessert made up for it right?!?! Love Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake dessert!!

Unfortunately I can only have a few bites of ice cream, more than that and its not pretty so there will more than likely be no Ghiradelli for me

Hi
I always get the ooey gooey cake at LTT. It's the best dessert I've ever had!! Also, never had the veggie burger there and now I don't think I ever will. I usually get the colony salad without the chicken, which is delicious!! Love your reviews!!

Just thought you might want to know that today, July 15th, is "National Ice Cream Day"!!! Yup! In 1984, Ronald Reagan designated the the third Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day, part of July, which is National Ice Cream Month. Reagan said that those two events events should be observed with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."

I had no idea myself, but I sure am going to celebrate, and I'm sure you will too!;)

uhmmm, HELLO this girl like quinoa and cake and ganache... recipe pleeeeease

Here is the link to the recipe I found. http://wheatfreemom.com/blog/recipe-quinoa-chocolate-cake/

I have made this a few times now:upsidedow , the first time I made it I just mixed by hand the eggs, vanilla, milk, and stirred in the quinoa. I found I didn't care for the texture (crunchy quinoa) so the next time I put these ingredients in a blender and it rocked my world! :thumbsup2 I ate the whole thing!::yes:: NEVER bake this while studying, very dangerous!;)

Now back to you food report....:happytv:

So my hubby is not a huge Disney fan and not really a gamer (although he plays lots of games on his iPhone) Do you think he would like the sorcerers game?

Probably not if he's not a huge Disney fan it won't be worth all the walking...unless he is a huge collector

can any of you computer savy people help!!?!

i'm seeing that all my pics have disappeared on Photobucket?!?!!? what do it do?!?!?
