I am looking for a good off site hotel close to universal . Anyone have any suggestions thanks so much

Check out the hotels on Major Blvd. Doubletree is quite nice.

Major BLVD is a very good suggestion. Universal is 20 minutes or so walking, easy I-Trolly and Lynx bus stops, some food places, and close to many other things. I stayed in this area last year. Perfect for my needs and pocket book. Check Tripadvisor and other websites for hotel reviews to help in your search.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn S. Orlando. It's on Kirkman rd. Very close to Wet n Wild. We walked to it from our hotel. It's close to Universals Entrance. You could walk it, but its a long walk from the entrance to the parking garage and then thru city walk. It took us less than 5 min drive to the entrance of the parking garage. We booked this hotel as a pkg thru expedia. When we return to Universal 2013 we will be booking this hotel. It was clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was excellent. They have 2 hot entrees every day( eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries) and they rotate them each morning. PLus your usual continental items ( danishes, cereal, fruit, waffles, and more.)

We've stayed before - and we're staying again next month - at the La Quinta on Major Blvd. Sign up for their rewards program (free) and for emails. A month or so ago, they sent me a link for a sale - "Executive Queen Room" has 2 queen sized beds, a refrigerator and a microwave in-room. Free breakfast, too - make your own waffles plus cereal, muffins, bagels, juice, coffee and I think hard-boiled eggs. $60 plus tax per night for 2 adults, 2 kids in mid-August. :thumbsup2

It's a nice, clean hotel. Prices get cheaper the closer you get to your travel dates. I think I priced it earlier this year and got a rate of $130? But that same room is now at $75. They also have reduced rates for AAA members.

They are just getting ready to open a Drury Inn on Sand Lake, very close to Universal as well, opening Aug 1. Rates are currently showing $89 per night for deluxe room with 1 king or 2 queens, and $119 for 1 bedroom suites. Drury also offers the free hot breakfast and usually also has a "managers" reception in the evenings, 2 free drinks per person, plus foods including hot dogs, mac & cheese, chicken nuggets, etc. also free to hotel guests.

Try the hotels close to downtown disney on Hotel Plaza Blvd. They are in a good location (walking distance to DTD) and cheaper than Disney hotels. They also have reliable shuttles to the parks every half hour, which eliminated our need for a rental car.

I stayed a the Holiday Inn on Hotel Plaza Blvd in the winter of 2012. However, this is before I knew about Whydham Bonnet Creek. It's worth checking out the "We love Bonnet Creek" thread to learn about it. The prices people are saying they got are less for a full sized apartment than what we paid for a regular hotel room. I plan on booking this the next time I go, because it sounds like such good deal.

This looks great! Using their "secret" :rotfl: (tip - click on the "Click HERE for esaver rate code") promo rate, mid August was $80 per night plus tax for a room with 2 queen beds. They also have a refrigerator and microwave in each room plus free soda and popcorn in the lobby every day until 10 pm. :thumbsup2 And they're only 2 miles from US/IOA.

Agreed, took our rate from $89 down to $71! Pretty good deal for sure...

I don't know if it is advertised anymore but I have been using the promo code FUN on drury inn website for more than two years and it always gives me lower rates than esaver rate and you can still cancel with no fees :).
