Now is the time to worry

I did my CP in QSFB and it was ok. I didn't love it, didn't hate it either. The work wasn't that much fun. I'd worked in a fast food restaurant before so it was basically the same job which was a little unfortunately. However, I LOVED the people I worked with (including the managers) so even though I wasn't entirely crazy about my role, I still miss it everyday and wish I could go back. The program is what you make it. If you convince yourself that you're going to hate your role and you're going to be miserable, you will be. But even if you aren't crazy about your role, you can still have a great CP. And just think of all the people who desperately want to do this program but don't get accepted and would kill to be where you are. Be thankful for the opportunity at all.

I never realized how grateful I should have been, being given the location I was. I was also QSFB and LOVED it. I worked in Sunshine Seasons in Epcot though, so it wasn't your normal QSFB. We had professional cooks, and we also had stewards that did all the dishes and stuff.

But man, I had fun! We had Land Band every day, where we did a little parade, and some dances with all the kids we could find. We had much higher quality of food, so I wasn't just serving chicken nuggets and fries, which was nice, though it did often make guests angry that we didn't have those things.

So, OP, I say go for it!

Aw cool! I think one of my best friends roommates worked there? I could be wrong though but I'm pretty sure. We didn't have professional cooks for my location (ABC Commissary at DHS) but we did share a kitchen with Sci Fi so there were culinary people around. And we had people who did all our dishes as well which I was so thankful for. :rotfl:

That sounds like so much fun!

If you know their name, I can tell you, there weren't too many CPs there, and everyone knew each other pretty well. It seems like working in HS would be so fun! I do regret that I never picked up an shifts over there, I wish I had spread out more. But I guess I was happy in my own QSFB trying to be a FSFB bubble.

I did work at Food and Wine a few times though. If anyone ever gets that chance TAKE IT! The first time kind of sucked, but man, it is so much fun! Then again, I have no problem dealing with drunk people, so I always had a laugh when they said something stupid/inappropriate/rude.

You sound like me! I picked up a PAC shift once, mainly because I needed hours, and I wanted to be able to say I did it. But I was definitely more comfortable in my little FSFB bubble. And I was over at Coral Reef, and we had to send people to y'all a lot when we couldn't take walk-ins. :)

I do regret not picking up F&W shifts though. If I ever get to work for Disney again, I will make sure to do that. :) All the people that I worked with that picked up shifts over there loved it. I wish I had done it.

:( Working in a PI I don't get the opportunity to pick up for F&W... ah, to be a CP again...

OK, does anybody have any specific recommendations for where to request my location? I know I'm not guaranteed my request, but I'd like to try anyway. :)

QSFB is QSFB, it's basically working at a fast food place that's really really busy.

Just thought I would add....my DD did QSFB back in fall 2010 but was at the Beach Club resort. She would often tell me of how NOT busy they were at times. It was not really stressfull, not fast paced and only during the lunch and dinner hours did it get sort of busy. She did get deployed quite often but usually to other resort locations like Caribbean, port orleans, All Stars, etc. She did say that All Stars was busy, but that was the only one. She actually liked being that the resorts.

And time to panic again.

We do not recognize the Disney College Program for academic credit.

Trying to get clarification if that means that I just won't get credit for the classes down there or if it will make my student loans come due.

I think his name was Kody or Matt? I wish I could remember. :( I wish I had picked up more shifts in other locations as well. I was deployed to Cosmic Rays and Studios ODV but I was hoping to work in all four parks. :( But I rarely saw shifts on the Hub for locations outside of Studios except for Pac and if I did, they were always when I was working. I really wanted to pick up a treat shift for one of the Halloween parties. :(

That sounds like so much fun! I had no idea you could do that.

My location wasn't super busy most of the time either. We had rushes but it wasn't too bad. The worst really was EMH nights.

OK, so, I worked things out with my school. Went to pay my housing fees. And the system didn't recognize me. :( I called the number, but apparently they closed early. It was a few minutes to 5 (they close at 5). 5 was the deadline for me to accept it. Here's hoping they'll extend that deadline. Otherwise, there's always next year.

Haha, if it was Matt then I knew him. Not well, as he was only there for a little while, while Blizzard Beach was under renovation, and he always got ERs right as I was coming in.
I had the same problem, PAC seemed like it would be so fun! But I never got that chance.

Well, first, it's that I don't feel like I have enough information in general. I feel uninformed. Every piece of information I get feels skewed. I feel like Disney's site is trying to sell me on it, and I feel the few other sources I've found have been anti-Disney. Disney makes it look like sunshine and roses (it's a job, I know it's not going to be all that all the time) and a few sites I've read seem to say that Disney treats their employees like crap, which I really don't want to believe. I'm mostly hoping for someone who's done the program to give me a fair shake on it. That's the biggest thing worrying me right now.

I worked Quick Service foods on my CP in 1999 at All Star Music Food Court. I thought it was going to suck but it was a lot of fun actually in the end & I made life long friends. Your CP is what u make od it really. :) I didnt find out my location until I was at Vista Way. I have a blog about my WDWCP with stories & pictures in my signature link. :) Feel free to email me any questions :)

Ahh I don't know! I didn't really know him that well so I have no idea if he came from Blizzard Beach. I do know he was on the cover of one of the tell-a-casts one week.

Depending on the check-in date, it may be too late to put a request in

I still have to pick my check in date. (Comparing airfare to figure it out. Any tips for cheap ways to get to Disney from NYC?)

Southwest, ohas rarely steered me wrong. I've heard jet blue is pretty cheap out of NY. I also found STA, which is like a student travel site, and they have GREAT airfare, but I've only looked at over seas stuff. I would bet it's the same for domestic.

(Seriously, I say great, it's 1/6th of the price, simply cause I'm a student and under 26 )

Congrats! I bet you'll have a great time!:goodvibes
