Okay we will be in So Cal for a couple of weeks soon, specifically Anaheim and Carlsbad. Having gone thru our clothes and what we need, DH and I have a specific list of things we want to buy. So where are your best places to get:

  • Nice white cotton t-shirts, good fitting ones not the straight tent shape, which we'll also be getting but I know where to look for those.
  • Trail running sneakers
  • Road running shoes, my DH does HM and FM so we need several pairs.
  • Running apparel (compression stuff)
I'm considering getting the kids some Lego but is it really that cheap? We have the puny NZ dollar compared with the mighty Aussie one.

TIA!

The Lego store sales are fantastic, the prices are ridiculous compared to what we pay, you just have to hope they're on sale :thumbsup2

Oh thank you, I've been looking at Kmart/Walmart for Lego - I didn't realise there were stores!:cool1:

There is one at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, my DS spent ages playing in there and I remember (and I regret not buying) Indiana Jones Lego sets in the massive boxes for about $50 on sale, I priced them when I got home after our trip and they were about $140 :furious:

For Legos I almost always find the best deals at Toys R Us. Not on particular sets that I want, but on others. Usually a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 type deal. Other wise I've had luck at K Mart similiar deals but less common. It helps to be here around the Holidays.

Otherwise if by chance an Disney Annual Pass is possible, you can get a discount in the DTD locations. Legos tend to have a set price that is almost the same every where so buying in DTD with the discount can beat a Walmart. I also got some good deals at the Big Store in Legoland.

Another good way to get Lego deals is if you are interested in branded sets buy the ones on the way out. Marvel is new and expensive. Pirates are on the way out and cheaper. I found some super deals last Christmas on Toy Story sets and they aren't in stores any more.

If you can get down to the South Coast Plaza which is pretty simple by bus from DLR, even though it's about 12-15km to the south. Near this big mall or upper end shops is a Marshalls to the west, Ross and TJ Maxx both to the north. These stores sell the old lines from nicer stores at 50,70, 80% off. You can find a wide array of clothing and shoes.

Between the Ross and TJ Maxx is a Sports Authority which sells athletic wear. Plenty of running stuff.

Even closer to DLR is the Block at Orange Outlets. You can also get here by bus and by ART, Anaheim Resort Transit. It has a Sports Authority, Puma and Nike stores.

I was just about to say the same thing that skiingfast has. I've found lego cheaper at Toys R Us, Target, Kmart and Walmart rather than the lego shop. Even when the lego shop is on sale, we can sometimes find the same item at Target on sale for another 25% cheaper. The only time we buy stuff at the lego shop is when we can't find what we want at the other stores.

If you are at Carlsbad, check out the Premium Outlets there.

They have a bunch of sports shops and if on sale, they might be your best bet for sports stuff.

Thanks for sharing all the Lego hints, my soon to be 5 year old has been saving his pocket money and his present money for our Disneyland trip and he wants to spend it all on Lego.
The first weekend we are in the US is Labor Day holiday so that might be the best weekend to go shopping.
