2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival *HAS ENDED*

Will it still be going on 11/12? It is our first day at WDW and we planned on Epcot to catch this. Website says it runs through 11/12 but the lady we spoke to on the phone today said the last day will be Sunday 11/11 (which kind of makes more sense to end it on a Sunday than a Monday). Anyone know?

The original end date was Sunday, the 11th, but the Festival was extended to Monday, the 12th. That day is Veteran's Day, so I think they're looking to make the most of that last long weekend.

I think next year's is also tenatively schedule to cover Veteran's day. The strategy worked because we are staying until Monday instead of Sunday of that week when we go down.

This will be our 1st time at food & Wine, but we will only be there for the 1st day (Sept 28th) Has anyone else gone on day 1? Is everything up and running?

Kinda like my question :thumbsup2, we are basically only there for the last day. Will stuff still be around or is it pretty much over and done with on Sunday?

Question for the pros-

We are planning to go Oct 4 -7 and want to stay at a Value resort this year.

Which one is best Disney transportation wise?

I know Pop is closer, but is the bus any quicker? Is it shared with any other resorts?

If we go with the All Stars, which ones is best transportation wise?

So many decisions to make - and 3D dates haven't even been released yet! :rotfl:

Thanks!

Can someone elaborate on the V&A event please? Or please post a link to more info? Maybe it's buried in this thread? Thanks in advance!

In the past POP has been best transportation wise. They don't share buses with any other resorts. This may have changed with the opening of Art of Animation since I believe it is right next door to POP. For the All Stars I think you might be less likely to get doubled up with the others if you choose Movies. I haven't stayed there in a quite few years but they rarely would double them up with the other resorts except possibly at park closing time. If that is your concern then I think Sports would be the first stop, Music second & Movies last.

When we went last year, we were there for the last 2 days of the festival. I do remember some of the dishes being sold out on the last day, but I think for the most part, everything was still up and running like any other day.

We're thinking of going in the same time frame since it's my fall break. Our "Home" resort is All Star Sports. We haven't gone in October before, but in peak times we've rarely shared buses because Sports could fill up a bus on its own. We're waiting on the discounts though. Military, AP or GP rates have to be coming out soon.

When will the dates and times and prices be posted for the many events? Hope its soon so we can make our plans and then be on the phone first thing when they begin to take reservations.

The TIW preview isn't until July 28. Hopefully we will get some info prior to that but if I remember correctly we didn't get most of the details until after the preview event last year. I'm hoping we at least get some Booth info this week but I'm not holding my breath.

The Disney Parks Blog has posted info on some of the Festival merchandise this morning.

Is it acceptable to bring older children to paid events and seminars. We will be at the festival the first weekend and I was wondering if my 11 and 16 year old DDs were allowed to attend seminars and tastings if I pay for them and they only eat but don't drink the alcohol. They enjoy fine dining so they really want to go to events I just didn't know if it was frowned upon.

Waiting patiently:rolleyes1 for more info on the three different tickets for PFTS. We've done both WVL and non-WVL, and to be honest, didn't miss the WVL experience. Any more news on what each ticket level will mean?

Thanks so much for the link to the merchandise. I hope they save me a Figment pin-those are adorable! Does anyone know whether those pins are sold at all pin locations or only at the F&W festival sales locations?

Right now there are so many Food related reality shows on(not all on Food Network, I know)-Chopped, Cupcake Wars, Food Network Star, Master Chef, etc. etc. I'd rather see some contestants from any of those shows at the F&W festival than someone from HGTV. And I watch HGTV. But the connection between Vern Yip and the F&W just escapes me.

I think you have to wait a little longer for the food related guests. Last year they had Robert Irvine (he's a regular), Cat Cora (until she cancelled), Andrew Zimmern, one of the Voltaggio brothers, Chris Cosentino, Buddy Velasco, Jamie Deen, Ming Tsai, Paula da Silva and Rock Harper (Hell's Kitchen), and Keegan Gerhard (another regular). They also had a gal who was on Top Chef once and she made a vegan soup which wasn't what she advertised I don't remember her name. Maybe they're not the "A" list of celebrity chefs but you can't say they don't have anyone from the reality shows.

I know nobody wants to wait but we are just not getting many leaks to blogs like we did last year, and it's a good bet the official stuff won't be out until the end of July or beginning of August since the booking date is the 14th.

Any more news on what each ticket level will mean?

All we have is general admission (just like the regular entry - no reserved seating), reserved seating (apparently just the seating with no extras), and Wine View Lounge (reserved seating in semi-private area plus extras)

This may have changed with the opening of Art of Animation since I believe it is right next door to POP.

Art of Animation does not share buses with Pop Century. Most of AOA, however, is family suites, which may make it more difficult to get a regular room there, at least until the novelty wears off.
