Should i cut back days in WDW to cruise?

:confused3 I am sure you all think i am :crazy2: by now but i just cant make up my mind what to do. We made the decision not to cruise because of the cost and decided to do NY again and 4 extra days at WDW instead.
DH told me to think very carefully about my decision because this will be the only time we could take all the kids on any cruise let alone a Disney cruise as you know our older to boys made the choice not to come with us on our 2015 cruise.
I have been telling myself that i am happy with my choice it is what it is but i have not really been happy with it and have been contemplating surprising the kids with it and DH just because i know how disappointed he is we are not cruising anymore and he is also feeling responsible for a lot of the changes we have made due to no holiday pay since the change in jobs(not from me) When the Mickey mail arrived the other day DS11 had collected the mail and he said Mum are you surprising us with a Disney cruise and i had to tell him no we are not doing one anymore i felt so :sad1: later on that day he said to me its ok Mum it will be better next time DS16 really doesn't get Disney the way we do so its probably better if we don't pay for him anyway:rotfl2:
The bottom line is i couldn't swing the $$$ so i paid of WDW but DCL has released a VGT and for cheaper than inside cabins we can have verandah cabins which is what DH wanted.
We lodged DH's tax return yesterday and my FTB has already been reconciled I am getting on Thursday more than enough to cover all the expenses of the cruise and we still have the interest free credit card as our back up plus DH's tax return to use if we run short on spending money plus DH's tax return is about $1000 more than expected.

The difference in that 4 days between the cruise and WDW is $3200 plus tipping for 4 days.
What should i do and will WDW let me change our package now i have paid it in full the due date was not until the 18th July:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

I forgot to add that our flight from Washington arrives at 11:54am on the day the cruise leaves:)

Tough choice ::yes::

I think I would do the cruise though, given the circumstances, and if your DH really wants to cruise, and you can do it, I would do it :thumbsup2

Oh it really is a tough choice. That is quite alot of money extra for 4 days, I'm not sure whether I could do it but cruises aren't as important to me as they are clearly to your family. This makes me think that perhaps you should go ahead. Looks like finances are falling into place to make it happen, perhaps it's a sign :).

I get horribly seasick; so cruising is just not something that is high on my list.

Having said that, if you have the finances to do so, and it is unlikely that you'll have the opportunity to do so again, I'd be sorting out a cruise. It sounds like you are rather sad at having given it up.

Afterall, would you rather have the memory of the experience for the rest of your life or the memory of having given up the cruise?

If you can swing the dollars and it makes you happy - go for it:thumbsup2

.......if you get to orlando at midday, its a 70 min bus ride...plus getting luggage, you wouldnt be out of the airport til at least 1pm that is if the flight arrives on time, get to the port at 2.30 earliest if you get a shuttle, later if you drive yourself, as you have to drop off the car and then get a shuttle.Boat leaves i think at 5, but latest embarkation is at 4 or 4.30pm.

can you catch an earlier flight..and you can cancel 75 days out without a penalty with WDW...

sort it soon...not to panic you at all:upsidedow

:thumbsup2 i think he just wants to make us all happy and he watched the DCL show on TLC with us and the kids were so excited we both went we have to do this one day

I get sea sick to but have never been on a boat that big so hoping it would be ok. We will have the opportunity to cruise just not with all the kids.

:worship:Oh sensible one:thumbsup2 that's what i was afraid of and that is what i have been telling myself for the last few weeks it just does not work with our flights, I just rang jetblue and it will cost $300 to change the flights to an earlier flight if i start doing things like that it just makes it to expensive that flight lands at 10:03am I wont want to cancel WDW just drop of 4 days will they let me do that with Free Dining

That was my thoughts Karen, I wouldnt chance such a tight connection.

I think you should cruise as well

Also on the sea sickness, I get really sea sick as well, but I was fine on my cruise. I just started taking some sea sickness tablets before the cruise, and made sure I took 1 each day. There was really rough seas at one point where I felt a bit off but only for like 30 mins then I was fine again (I just took an extra tablet).
I guess what I am trying to say, don't let it stop you after a while you really don't notice it. To the point when I got off I had sea legs and really missed it

I am the biggest cruise fanatic ever, and I would normally say go for it! It sounds like finances are such that you are able to do it. However, as Karen has mentioned, the connection is very tight.

In the scheme of things, another $300 on top of $3200 isn't too bad if that is what your heart is set on (and sounds like you've been thinking a lot about the cruise that you're not goingn on). In perspective, the amount that you are already spending to get yourself there is much bigger.

I have a feeling that it should be ok to shorten your days at WDW even with free dining so long as your check in dates are within those listed.

Good luck with your decision, it'll be fun either way!

:thumbsup2 That's really handy to know and I really want to try a cruise before our big one in 2015 so I at least know how much sea sickness medication I need:rotfl:

I think I have found another solution will still cost $300+ to change flights and mean no Washington but there will be no tight connection, there's a 5 day cruise leaving NY will cost a little more but still within what I get from FTB but it will mean we will fly into Orlando only a couple of hours before rock the universe I just spoke to DH and he said do whatever makes me happy:lmao: I told him I might ask the kids then :scratchin I think this may be the best option as they are very excited about having 12 days at WDW as well so I might just ask them what they would prefer to do. If only I hadn't seen the VGT fares on the website;)

Sounds like a good alternative! From memory, you're only in Washington for 1 day right? Best to save Washington for another time when you can allocated more days and enjoy all of it.

We made the right choice to cancel the B2b Alaka cruise and b2 LA people are finding out today they can't do it I would of been flipping hysterical as we changed our flight to fly out of LA based on the fact that we were doing those cruises I feel so much better about that choice now for us but extremely sad for the people who now have to change their plans.

Should I ask the kids or surprise them:confused3

:flower3: So after all that i ask DS11 if he would like the Disney cruise or 12 days at WDW telling him he has to pick 1 of the water parks if we do the cruise his response is can we leave things the way they are i really want to do both water parks and spend all the time we are at WDW and he doesn't want to not go to Washington even though we only have 1 day there, he says i know we will do a Disney cruise another time Mum:rotfl:
:scratchin So things are staying the way they are and i am trying not to feel dissapointed but am very happy that he doesn't feel he is missing out especially since it was what he asked for for Christmas:upsidedow and if we went there for 7 days after the cruised it would be rushed trying to do everything because we would only have 4 days for WDW.

Ok - now stop looking at those websites! :). You are going to have an awesome holiday with or without a cruise!

Glad that it is all sorted, and will probably work out for the best anyway as you have put so much thought and planning into it. It is ok to feel disappointed, just try to remember that there will definitely be a next time!

I second battymum! Don't look anymore!!!!

and......you can now start planning the next trip with the 7 day cruise:thumbsup2

I always start fiddling witih my trip about 2 months out.....what is it, we just cant seem to help ourselves:rotfl:

ok, i'm off to check out my dining resi's.....i think I have forgotten some:upsidedow
