Professional Internships Spring 2013-Question!

So, I recently graduated college and wanted to apply for some professional internships in August. Problem is, most require you to still be in school. Does anyone know if there are ones that allow college graduates to apply? Thank you.

As far as I know, for all internships you have to either still be in school, or graduated the previous semester. I did the CP the fall after I graduated, and I'm not eligible for another internship until I'm done with my first semester of grad school.

really?? Oh no I was thinking I could do another CP after I graduate and then apply for PIs, I thought someone said I could do that :(

There is currently on a PI up on the interns page (not sure why...maybe someone dropped it) and this is listed under the Internship Eligibility section:

"Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship."

I've read this many places before because I'm planning on doing the CP for the Fall 2013 program and then applying for a PI to do directly after since I would be doing the CP after graduation. I've also looked it up because I wanted to make sure I'd be able to do to do a PI.

ah ok thanks that's perfect then!
do you or anyone else know when the fall PIs start, do they all start in June? I was maybe going to apply for a CP and PI so I could have another chance for the PI later if I didn't get it but I don't think I can anymore since I'd be taking classes until June 20th.

You can apply for a PI while on the CP. I did the CP after I graduated, and I was still able to apply for a PI while on my CP. So as long as you apply while you're on your CP, you'll be fine.

ok thanks that's great then :D
for the people that have gotten a PI, did you have other internships besides a CP? and/or were your grades really good? and if you did a CP right before did it help you to meet people before you applied?

My grades were less than awesome, and this is my first/only internship outside the CP. It's really how you present yourself to them in the interview. They didn't check my GPA. What I had going for me was previous work experience/volunteer experience (I was a Quidditch coach for my university team, and I worked that into my interview responses. And one of my interviewers was a HUGE fan of Harry Potter, which she let me know on the first day).

EDIT: also, meeting people is 10000% what you want to do if you want to move further with the company. Something that has been EXTREMELY helpful here is people being SO helpful with setting up what we call meet and greets with a whole bunch of people in the area, in the building, in the department, and even in other places that you want to go to in the future. They are SO concerned about your growth and development.

I had two interviews. One interview was the very basic screening interview which was actually done by the exact same person who interviewed for my CP the day earlier (and she loved me, which was a good thing!)

After a few months, second interviews finally went out and my second interview was with several marketing associates and two Associate Managers, who were in charge of internship efforts. They asked some pretty detailed questions that were marketing-oriented, such as "what do you think makes a good brand successful?" etc. I looked everyone up on LinkedIn as soon as they told me their names, and one of the assoc. managers (who I actually work under now) went to Harvard Business School for her MBA. :worship:

Then they took until the deadline to get back to me about anything. I heard back April 21st, I believe, after applying initially in January. I think it was later for me because I was not the first choice- their first choice actually went to a girl who declined it to be in Guest Relations.

ahhh! That makes me really nervous haha!
do you like your PI?
also I am sort of regretting that my managers put me 'on track' for my review and not 'ahead of the track' after my CP because they told me I was right in between them. and asked if I agreed with that choice. personally I say you always round up, although it probably wouldn't have been changed anyway :P

I've done a lot of performance stuff in the past, and let me tell you one thing I've learned personally- no matter how nervous you are, it doesn't change anything about who's watching you or listening to you, so why be nervous? They want to see you succeed, they want to watch you do well, and they want to be impressed, so there's no reason to panic and there is every reason to relax and do your best.

I like it a lot- there's plenty of work to do, the people are great, and you can't beat a Disney job!

Does anyone know when the start date is for the Spring 2013 PIs? Or at least what week they're typically around? Thanks!

There's an intern here that extended her program, she was originally a Spring PI and she started in January.

Does anyone know the schedule of pi applicatIons? Do they go out before the holiday season or after the new year? From what I'm gathering it seems that most pis start in June. When does the Application for those typically begin?
