Our trip is the first week of August at POP. It is my understanding that either they have already installed refrigerators or are doing that now. I remember reading conflicting information about details on the frig's. Do they have a freezer part or not? We would like to freeze water bottles if it was possible...

There is no freezer in the fridges WDW installed at Pop Century. We were there earlier this month. The refrigerator kept our milk and other perishables cold, but there is no ice compartment. There is an ice machine available on each floor. Obviously that ice couldn't freeze your water bottles. I just wanted to anticipate a question about ice availability for others reading this thread.

How about the size of the refrigerator? I remember everyone kept referring to them as "beverage coolers" and implied there was a huge different in size between them and regular mini-frig's that are typical in hotel rooms. Are they big enough to stock with water and room for takeout boxes of food, etc..?

Even the refrigerators in the Moderates and Deluxe resorts don't have a freezer section. But DVC resort refrigerators do.

It's the typical small mini-fridge. When I loaded ours - it held about 36 canned drinks - 3 12-packs. There might have been room for 1 take-out box, but not a lot of room - wouldn't hold a gallon jug of milk.

To me, it seemed exactly like a mini-fridge. I don't know what a beverage cooler is, or how small one is. I can say that I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge last year, and Pop last week, and the fridges seemed the same to me :confused3

Kept all of our drinks cold (bottles of water, soda, we bring juice boxes and capri sun packs with us). I feel like we put a lot on there, and were not disappointed at all!

I am here now. Maybe this will help you guys.

Thank you for the pictures. I've been nervous about whether they'd keep my insulin cold enough, but it kind of sounds like it will.

Looks like a gallon of milk will fit on the bottom, if you raise the shelves up high. Is that correct?

Thanks for the pictures! :thumbsup2

You are welcome.
We actually put our gallon of milk in a styrofoam cooler and iced it down every day. It was much colder there than in the fridge. Even at the highest setting, the refrigerator was not really all that cold, to be honest.

You may be able to request a fridge with a freezer. When we were there about 6 weeks ago we had connecting rooms and one of the rooms had the new fridge but the other room still had one of the original ones that had a small freezer section. They probably will still use the older models til they break down, lol. So worth a call to see if you could get one of those.

a half gallon will fit in the one spot on the door. I don't think the door will close with a gallon on the bottom but I did not try...so I'm not positive, but I know the bottom shelf seemed to present the most problems when we put things in for closing the door...Just our experience two weeks ago at POP :)

They're Velveeta slices. Most people use them on sandwiches.

So do all rooms at Pop Century come with a fridge? What about any of the other Value resorts??
