Any marathon vets care to comment? I figure it's about the same madness for that morning with the busses. Curious how smooth it runs

I am also wondering and would love to hear from previous princesses.

Just wondering in the past if anyone just drove from a WDW resort hotel to the start to avoid possible bus problems ??? I would love to hear about that.

You call a special run disney number to get the rates.

Based on numbers from last year it looks like typical break down of % off for rooms- 25ish for a value, 30ish for a mod, 35ish for a deluxe. That's if I was doing my math right. Which is suspect, I'll admit.

Well in my experience, I took the bus and had no problems whatsoever! We stayed at the Poly, and I literally got on the very first bus they had at 3:00 AM, my family went back to the room and rested for a little while. There was no problem with traffic that early. Then after the race, we took the monorail back to the Poly, so again, no problems with traffic.

I was at allstars sports one year and Poly the next. I was on an earlier bus for Poly and a little later with ASSP. Both went off without a hitch for me- I was there in plenty of time.

I'm so behind in my training. I've only run about 2.45 miles at my peak. I hope I still have time to be able to run the whole thing and not just walk part run part:worried:

Please don't fret! Just keep plugging away. Official training plans don't start till October. Run for fun right now

Ahhh! I've been slacking for the past two weeks! I've lost all motivation that I had! :( I haven't walked/ate healthy or wrote on my blog! It completely bums me out!!! I need some help! Ugh!

In 2011 Julie & I drove from the Swan and it wasn't really a problem getting there. That particular nightmare was saved for getting out! I took the boat back to the Swan but Julie drove the car back and she said the parking lot was a complete mess and nobody really seemed to be directing traffic.

In 2012 we stayed at POFQ and took the bus. Boarded a little after 3:30, I think? Got snarled up in all kinds of traffic; was really impresssed with the creative weaving our driver did to get us there. As it was, we got there just as all were being herded to corrals - good thing we didn't need to check bags! We both thought that they should have had a "bus only" lane to help those drivers out! After the race we looked at the line for our resort and it was huge, but they had 2 buses pull up at the same time and it worked out great.

If all resorts are choices, I would prob. still pick POFQ. It was really nice and since I couldn't stay there with my family (3 kids, no suites) I like it for a girl's weekend. However, it also depends on how many other princesses we can recruit! It was just the 2 of us last year but this year we have one determined to come and another that we are trying to convince, so it might be a foursome. In that case, something with a suite or a villa might be a good choice. You know, this just makes us uber-planners happy - MORE RESEARCH!!!:rotfl: We cruise on the DCL in less than a month and I"m kind of crazing my family, making them look at stuff on my computer!

Ummm... sorry for the multiple posts!

Just put up my review of the "Train Like A Mother" plans.
http://longingforthesea.blogspot.com/2012/07/newbie-chronicles-part-2-train-like.html

Will try to get in the last one - "Run Less, Run Faster" - by the end of this week. Running the Peachtree tomorrow (after a ridicuously spotty 2 weeks of non-training due to stress / depression / heat issues) and am a little nervous as to what I'm going to be able to pull out come race day!!! Am glad that this thing is really one big spectator party - I have never seen another race where it's just wall-to-wall spectators the entire way and it's just a lot of fun! All kinds of non-runners come out of the woodwork just so they can get the t-shirt! So, be thinking of me running with 59,999 of my fellow Atlantans!

Like your breakdown of the plan. i felt the same way you did about the variety. the 5k own it plan inproved my 5k finish by over 2 minutes...and it was a hot, humid day!

I was supposed to start the half training this sunday, but we had been without power from Friday till last night. This summer has royally sucked! Between my father's stroke and death and power outages, June came and went and I barely remember it. Planning on starting next Sunday as I have my first half marathon in october

Please tell me that's an exaggeration. That's one HUGE race! Dude!!!

Good Luck Peachtreers--- sounds very very hot. I'm worried about a 10K in October being hot. :rotfl2:

I know sometimes it is so hard to just get out. Maybe set a goal of even just a short walk to get going. I always feel better once I can finally force myself out! Or take a little time off, you might need it to recharge and that is not a bad thing.

I totally want to hear all about the Peachtree. I didn't know anything about it until this last weekend and I still don't really know. I did see they have a lottery to be able to register! That is nuts. Have fun though.

HA! I grew up here, so I get a little Atlanta-centric... The Peachtree Road Race is the world's largest 10K. It's on the 4th of July every year and is in its 42nd year - Jeff Galloway won the first one!

Nope - they had to resort to a lottery to "limit" it to 60,000! The start waves go all the way to "Z". Thank God I get to start right before 8:00am, and they have a bunch of those vertical sprinkler things along the course that you can run through.

Thanks! I'm sure I'll blog it! Loads of fun - non-stop spectators lining the streets and cheering.

stupid question, but there are characters along the race path, yeah? So are there photopass people? Or just rely on your own camera (i'm bringing my own anyways)

also another stupid question, where am I gonna store all my stuff like water and sunscreen and gatorade? what do you guys use?

ETA just ran my personal best!!!! 2.81 miles at 12:01 per mile. I'd happy dance right now but i don't want to scare people! (still at the park)

There are a bazillion characters but no photopass. There is a private company called Brightroom that you can order photos from later. However, there is always a CM there that is happy to use your own camera. Also, Brightroom is not with every character. The shot in front of the castle, however, is only Brightroom, no CMs there to use your camera.

They do have bag check before the race (they give you a bag at bib pick-up) so you can retrieve your things afterward. Anything that you want to bring with you, I use the pocket in my running skirt as well as a Spibelt. I don't bring water / gatorade with me as they have plenty of aid stations along the route and they hand you one of each, I think after you go through the finisher's chute.

Hey all- in my review of the Coach Jenny plan "Running For Mortals" I mentioned that you have to pay for the half and full training plans on her site. Just read a notice that announced the rollout of www.coachjenny.com and all the training plans are now free! Check it out!

Fairy Godmother was w/ me today... Visited the runDisney booth @ the Peachtree Expo & guess what? I got to register for my 1st Princess 1/2!! They didn't have any other details but I'm excited to really be in now. Excited as in nervous, yikes, that's 13.1 miles! Oh no, what've I done?! Now, where did that Fairy Godmother go?

Cogrulations!! You can do it! Just thing of it as a 10K with a bonus 5K at the end. When I started training last year for the Princess, I found once I was able to do 6 or 7 miles, adding another mile wasn't too bad. The Princess is SO MUCH fun!! It's one big party with all kinds of stuff to keep you entertained along the way. The stopping for pictures gives your legs a little rest along the way. princess:
