Kids CS Credits & Menus FAQ & Q&A

Right, I know that. I'm just venting that we would have soooo much food leftover after our meals. I could never lie about it; I'm just tempted. Wish we could get the cost of this trip down a few grand!

I think my kiddos will get tired of the same old things- Even the sit down restaurants serve the same as the CS- Can you all give me CS restaurants that have options other than Mac and Cheese, Burger, Pizza and Nuggets?

Resort food courts have great variety. Make your own pasta's, taco stuff, depending on the resort, other stuff. There are great sandwich options around, as well. Look at the menus on allears, you'll see plenty. Ribs, 1/2 chickens at Cosmic Rays, or Flame Tree. Sunshine Seasons. QS in Epcot Japan, sandwiches at Epcot France, etc., -- One just needs to look at the menus and do a little research. It's pretty easy to do using allears menus.

We're in the To Dine/Not To Dine negotiation right now. The last time we visited the parks, we had 2 children and a 2-year-old. It was great. Now, we have 2 Juniors and 2 Children. Yowzers, is our DDP expensive!

The trouble is, all 4 of our kids are very small eaters. We could easily split 3 adult meals for our entire family. Our kids could share 2 children's meals between the 4 of them. Also, they're very picky eaters. The 2 oldest would never eat off the adult menu and will likely order off the children's menu anyway.

I am so very tempted to state that my 11-year-old is a child. I know it's wrong, but it's oh-so tempting! I wish that was an option for Juniors!!!

My sugestion would be do exactly as you stated, no not change the age of your child, but rather share meals. Do not get the dining plan and pay out of pocket. That way you can order 3 adult meals for your family or allow the 4 kids to share 2 kid meals. You will most likley spend less money paying out of pocket then if paying for the dining plan and you wont have wasted food.

I've been to Disney over 10 times, and this is the first time taking advantage of the DDP. It's free for us this time, yahoo!!! I have a 3 year old who is a seriously picky eater. I guess chicken nuggets for him everyday, holy.

Anyway, as for him being on the kids' menu, I'm a little confused if he gets a dessert, too, or is that already a part of the "nugget, carrots, grapes, juice/milk, yogurt" thing??

I'm being a little insane and OCD (as my DH would say) by planning out our meals already and putting it on an index card so he can have this list ready and our KTTW ready while I have the kids seated (I have a 1 year old also).

He won't get a separate dessert. Just options for carrots, grapes, cookie, fries, possibly yogurt or jello depending on the location. He can pick 2. One is his side and the other is his dessert. And they can be the same item, like 2 grapes or 2 cookies, etc. He'll also get his entree (nuggets, pizza, etc) and a child's drink.

Thank you. Another thing, say, for instance, a restaurant without a kids' menu, like Golden Oak...would I get the 3 usuals for adult (entree, drink, dessert) or would I stick to kid's choices (entree, drink). DH gets overwhelmed easily, trying to ease this while at the Happiest Place on Earth after all!!

At restaurants with no kids menu, the kids can order like an adult would order. Entree, beverage, dessert.

Has anyone used counter service credit at Dino Diner at AK?

They don't seemed to have "dessert" in the menu. I wonder I can use kids credit to buy hot dog, glazed nuts & frozen coke/lemonade?

Usually in that situation At Dino Diner you could get hot dog, regular drink, and then choice of chips, nuts, or frozen coke as dessert. Some places like that with very limited menus will only let you get chips as the dessert so make sure you ask.

When we go to somewhere such as Cosmic Ray's and DD(7) wants a burger, can I pay for two adult meals on my dning plan and then pay OOP for the burger (skip the drink and dessert) in one transaction. Or will they only serve me the two Dining Plan meals, then serve the "other side" of the queue before coming back to me to buy the burger? :confused3

Is it possible to use 2 kids CS credits for breakfast when there is only 1 kid (and 2 adults) on the plan? I would rather use DS's credits for breakfast and save the adult credits to share for lunch and dinner. Thanks.

ETA - Sorry, I know you can only use one child credit at a time but what if DH and I go through the cash, each with a childs meal seperately.
This question is from several months ago, but I didn't see it answered. I'm wondering sort of the same thing.

Our whole family is vegetarian, including DD3. We've never done DDP before but are planning our next trip for next fall, and hope to take advantage of Free Dining. So really my question is two-fold:

1. At QS, could we share our adult meals with her and then use the extra child's credits to get kid's meal breakfasts for all of us?

2. If there is nothing vegetarian on the child's menu at a TS, will they substitute something for her? (For example, I just looked at the San Angel Inn, which my DW and I like for the veg platter, but the kid's meal options are all chicken or beef. Would they make her a cheese quesadilla as her entree for a child credit?)

Obviously we will try to plan our meals so we don't have to ask for substitutions, i.e. do a lot of buffets or share our adult meals if there is nothing DD can eat on the child's menu. But it does baffle me that at places with a specific vegetarian menu (like San Angel Inn) or a lot of vegetarian options (like Tangerine Cafe), there is not a vegetarian option on the child's menu. Really, how hard is it to offer a cheese quesadilla or child-size portion of the falafel they already sell?

As for TS restaurants, explain when you arrive that your child is vegetarian, and they may offer an alternative, even on the dining plan. Not sure how that works at CS.

All I am going to say about the child's CS credits is that the guest is supposed to keep track of how many credits were purchased for a child's price, and use those for children's meals, except at restaurants that do not have a child's menu. So yes, you could use the child's CS credits for children's breakfasts and share them.

Yes...my favored option, though, would be to go to WPE where there are no children's meals, so any of your credits could be used to purchase one of their HUGE breakfasts. You could easily split them and they are SO good!

2. If there is nothing vegetarian on the child's menu at a TS, will they substitute something for her?
It really seems to depend on the individual behind the counter. Both my daughter and I rarely eat meat. One time at the Tangerine cafe, she was able to get them to give her some of the rice as a kids meal. But another time that wasn't an option. Something else we've done is to use snack credits to get sides, like a bowl of soup at Sunshine Seasons. The kids menu options at WPE are also a favorite w/my kids (b/c they love pasta!)

Thank you. I know you are not allowed to use child CS credits to purchase adult meals, but was wondering if they'd sell us 3 children's meals at the same time, using 3 child's credits, even if our card says 2A 1C. I'd hope that as long as I have the right number of child's credits available, it wouldn't matter who was eating the meals.

They don't have any way of knowing if you have child credits or adult credits as the guest has to keep track of those. They're supposed to go by what your card says. You can certainly ask the cashier, but what you may have to do is get in line twice.

Ah, I get what you mean now. Logically it shouldn't matter if you are getting more kids meals than what it says on your card, since kids meals are cheaper you'd be cheating yourself if you used adult credits to get kids meals. But we know logic doesn't always prevail in these situations.

We are on the deluxe plan and are eating at a few restaurants that DD might not like. If she decides not to order at the restaurant and we then have to use her TS for a CS, would this screw up our credits? I am so confused by the whole there is no difference between CS adult and child credits. I know there is a difference between TS adult and child credits so I get why converting TS to CS is so complicated. So if DD uses her TS credit as a CS and since there is no difference between adult and child, they just take one credit away, what if they took the adult credit away instead of child credit? Could that happen? Because then she is just going to have to eat something different or starve lol. Also, could we bring her CS with us to our TS? I know it's tacky but she is so picky and DH and I don't want to choke on our dinner for once lol.

The deluxe plan only has credits. Not TS and CS. All credits are good for any style meal.

Thank you. We have been on the deluxe plan twice before and I never gave much thought to the fact that ordering CS meals for DD could mess up our dining plans until I started reading posts on here that TS credits aren't supposed to be used for CS credits and that you have to make sure the CM uses a child credit or you will be an adult credit short. I thought deluxe could be used anyway I chose. And I never worried if the CM used the proper child or adult credit before because I thought they would just know to. I think I was better off not reading these posts lol. From what I remember, all of our deluxe dining credits were pooled together and we had to keep track whose were whose. So either this has changed since May or it does not pertain to the deluxe plan but rather the regular plan?
