Mom/Daughter Birthday Celebration: Lots of Firsts and Laughs! (Update 3-18-13)

Yay! I'm so excited that you've started the report!

I'm glad that you had a safe flight down--I loved seeing all the pics! I think I would have a little scared if the lightening was flashing!!! That makes me nervous on the ground, much less in a plane! I'm glad that the airports were easy to navigate.

Glad you're here!

We have flew into the orlando airport so many times and I never have priced a flight into Sanford. I actually never heard of it before the Dis, where many people talk about this airport.. How big is that airport? I'm going to look at prices for our upcoming Nov trip...

It's a smaller size airport and I was glad it was pretty easy to navigate around. Did you find a good price?

Joining in for the fun. I just love your trip reports.

Thank you! Glad you're here for this one, too!!

You're like me LOVE to take pictures of EVERYTHING!! You're daughter is beautiful, I bet it's hard keeping all the boys away.

Excited to read more and to see more pictures. :)

Thank you!

Yes, I do take pics of everything. DD gets annoyed with it sometimes
! :rotfl:

Glad to see you've started! I need some good reading to keep me occupied for 137 more days... :lmao:

Yay, Glad you're here! Wish we were going back soon, but will have to probably wait till next summer. :sad1:

Been a bit of a lurker, read your PTR and now excited to read your TR. hope all of your planning went to plan!:)
xXx

Thanks for joining my TR!!!

Joining in nice to see another carolina family.

Thanks & welcome to my TR!

Just joining in. I read your last trip report and I'm glad to have found this one too.

Glad to see ya here! :wave2:

I really dislike flying into or out of Sanford Airport, it is 45 minutes from the Disney area.

It would have to be a very good deal for me to fly from there.

Sorry, :off topic:

To the OP - I am enjoying your trip report and photos. It's getting me excited for my December trip with my daughter....... leaving the boys at home. :)

Welcome to my TR! I LOVE our mom/daughter trips together.
I didn't have any problems with Sanford airport and didn't mind the extra hour driving time. It's better than the 10 hours I usually have to drive! Or all the hours on the Amtrak! :drive:

I'm glad you liked Allegiant. I rented from alamo too. so I know how far away it is...and pulling a suitcase along doesn't make it any better, so I can imagine it raining yuck.
I know people say Sanford is too far away. but we never have made it from MCO any faster than we do from sanford, so it's not bad at all.

Yes, that was a long walk! And I agree, I didn't think the distance to WDW was bad at all from there.

Keep the trip report coming. Can't wait to hear more. What part of SC did you live? We live in Augusta, Ga. I guess you can say we are neighbors.

We live about 40 miles from GSP, and only about 20 miles from the GA border, so we're not far to Augusta. So yeah, we're neighbors! :wave2:

Subbing, must now go back and read :)

Yay, glad you're here!! :cool1:

For those that have read some of my TR's or PTR's, know that I usually add in some "daily happenings" here & there, especially if it has anything to do with Disney. And to get in a little Disney fix, I'm so excited to say that in 5 days, we're going to see ..............................................

I am so excited. I have always wanted to see this, but would probably not ever get the chance to go to NYC, where they have the show. So when I heard it was coming to our area, I HAD to get tickets ASAP!

COOL!! I have heard great reviews of this show! Please do tell us how you liked it! We saw Broadway's Beauty and The Beast last year and it was AWESOME!

We arrived at our hotel, Best Western LBV, in the Downtwon Disney area. We stayed there last year, and loved it! Since it was late when we got there, I didn't get any outside pics, and for some reason I didn't take any at all while we were there. But I do have more pics in my June 2011 TR.

I did get a few pics inside, before we unpacked and crashed for the night.

This is probably one of my favorite parts of the hotel room:
2 spaces to get ready!! Much needed when you're traveling with a teen!!

027-1.jpg

A view looking toward the door, showing lots of storage space for luggage, etc.

The next morning as we were getting ready, I got a few pics of another favorite..... the balcony, and the view!!!

031-1.jpg

We had a great view of Downtown Disney!

033-1.jpg

We finally finished getting ready, and I snapped a pic of the rental car.

Next up: Magic Kingdom Day!

:cheer2:

The hotel looks awesome and you had an AWESOME view!

Having that extra space was nice, I know! I don't think you could ever have too much getting ready space in a hotel!

The rental car is too cute!!

Can't wait to hear about MK!

I'm joining in. I started reading your other TR but haven't caught up to it yet. I'm glad I'm reading another of yours! I hope you guys had fun :)

Funny Story about that hotel...Last Nov we stayed there for one night before our Dream cruise, seemed like a really nice place to stay..We were all tucked in for the night and our room was chilly so we tried to turn our heat on. We waited for it to start, and waited, and waited. After about 20 min we decided to call and ask someone to look at it, normally we wouldn't care and would just have gone to bed but with DS's asthma, if the room was the slightest bit too cold he would wake up coughing and wheezing..((Which would lead to a not so fun B2B cruise)) Anywho, someone came up and told us they normally dont have the heat activated because people dont usually use it..He had to open a large vent in the ceiling to turn it on, all of a sudden we heard a gush of water! There was a build up in the vent and the water went everywhere!!! Can you even imagine having to switch rooms at 1am when you are trying to finish packing for a cruise and having to be up at 7am! I was not a happy camper!

We really like that hotel! I was actually surprised that we got that view, because they charge more for the "Disney Views", but the view we had was just as good as the more expensive one would be!

I loved the rental car, and I've decided I want one now! :rotfl: (It's a 2012 Kia Forte)

Thanks for joining my TR!! Hope you enjoy the others, if you get a chance to read them!

You really can't beat a 55 minute flight!

:thumbsup2

That's not good!! :scared1: I know what you mean about the asthma situation. I think I mentioned that DD has asthma, too. This was our 2nd stay there, and we didn't have any problems, but with a large hotel such as this one (18 floors I think I remember that right), I imagine they do have glitches here & there. Even as hot as FL is, I wonder why they wouldn't have the heat activated, especially in November!

I've heard nothing but fantastic reviews of The Lion King, everybody loves it!

I can't wait!!

That is a nice room!

We loved it!

Thursday, June 14

We made it to MK about 9:30am. We seem to never get to the parks at opening time! :coffee:

036.jpg

We checked the wait times for pics with Mickey, but it was too long, so we got a pic with Statue Goofy:

037-3.jpg

We went into a few stores, and we came out of a store to see the band playing (What's the name of it??). You've probably all seen them, but have you seen them from behind?? I thought the backside of their outfits were too cute!!

039-2.jpg

We then came across the Mayor and this lady (??). DD met the same lady last year on our trip.

040-1.jpg

And there's the lovely blue building, obstructing views of the castle! :rotfl:

And the construction crane in the backgrounds:

We headed off for Adventureland!

054-3.jpg

I really wanted a Dole Whip for breakfast :lmao:, but they weren't open yet!

055-1.jpg

We rode the Jungle Cruise, with a 25 minute wait:

056-1.jpg

We caught the last few minutes of this show:

058-1.jpg

Then rode Pirates of the Caribbean with a 10 minute wait:

059.jpg

060.jpg

As we came out, we seen Pirate Goofy!

062.jpg

(Continued...)

We then headed to Haunted Mansion, and there was a 15 minute wait.

065.jpg

This guy was really into character, and had some fun with DD, and as she wanted a pic, he just stood there, looking crazy :rotfl: :

Pics of Fantasyland & construction:

We got in line for Philharmagic, with a 15 minute wait:
076-2.jpg

We then made our way back to Main St, for lunch at Casey's Corner!!

077.jpg

More MK coming up:

"Watching the Parade from a Different Angle, and The Clouds Come Rolling In!!"

What a fun morning, and you got tons done! Your pictures make me want to be back there so bad!

I have never seen that band...nor do I think I have seen pictures. Wow...I love learning new things.
