Wall decals for stateroom door

Can anyone tell me whether the removable (that is, no tape or adhesive needed) wall decals like Target sells will work on stateroom doors? Are they allowed and do they stick well enough to use for a week (particularly the large ones)? Thanks for the help!

Are you talking about the gel-type things? If so, there have been reports that the colors (particuarly the red) stain the wall/door that they have been placed on.

If it's some other kind of wall decal, I don't know. But DCL does say not to use any adhesive or tape.

:cutie:

Thanks so much for your response!

I am talking about the large wall decals which you can peel on and off the wall. I don't know if they are gel, but I doubt it. The specific one I am thinking of buying is a very large Mickey Mouse wall decal -- more than a foot tall -- which Target sells in its home section.

Thanks for any help!!!!!

I think the ones that the OP is referring to are vinyl. Kinda like window clings, but for walls. No idea if they'd work on the doors or not.

My kids each have either Fatheads or other wall "clings" and they don't use any adhesive and leave no residue so I would think they would be fine. The Fathead website says that they cling to metal so it should work on the door. The gel clings can leave a color stain and anything with an adhesive would leave a residue but these types of things don't fall into either of those categories IMO.

However, you might have a problem with getting a large decal to adhere properly because the door has insets so it isn't a completely smooth surface all over. I used magnets so I'm no help there. Good luck.

I put some Jake and Neverland Pirates wall clings on our door for my daughter's birthday and they worked great.

Wondering if anyone has given the vinyls a try on the door. I found some really cute ones and they say no damage upon removal. They just "cling."

Maybe sticking magnets on the back would work. Is there a protective backing on the decal, possibly remaining on, and allowing the magnets to be stuck to it? If you then wanted to put it up at home upon returning from the cruise, the backing could be removed, and it were be a reminder of the wonderful time on board.

As OP posted this almost 9 months ago, I think they got their answer.
