No Orcas, No Bears, No Fly! But Why?? Disney Wonder Alaska VIDEO/PICS/NAVS/MENUS/MORE

Love Love love your TR. We are leaving in 9 days. We have a Tom Douglas resturant scoped out for when we arrive in Seattle. Last year we did palace kitchen and this year will need to try something else.

Not too long at all, IMO. I especially appreciate the effort in scanning and posting all the nav's etc. :goodvibes Living vicariously through you right now, lol.

Goodie!! I am so glad to hear you say that! I am trying really hard to get info out there that I wish I knew and couldn't find...LOL Thanks so much for that, it made me happy!

I want to go back to try more of them!! Everything we ate at his restaurants was fantastic! I am glad you are loving the TR! Have SOO much fun when you go! We are contemplating booking another DCL cruise in August..a little closer to home this time though...hehe!

NO!! It isn't too long! Keep the details and the pictures coming!!

You got it!!! More to come very soon!!! I am still going through photos and uploading! I used an entire 32GB memory card with HD Video and Photos! Then I ran out and started using another card. So your wish is my command! :thumbsup2

Not too long at all! I mean, you've already convinced me to do a few things in my own city, and I told DH about the puzzle cache, he had no idea! This is great! It's fun to see your city through new eyes!

I am sure the cruise part will be wonderful, too, as many of us are impatiently waiting for our dates! :)

Love, love, love this TR :cool1:

Your photos are wonderful and I love that you encourage silly face pulling in them :rotfl:

Seattle looks amazing, and wow the food !!

I am really looking forward to reading about your cruise, we are doing the Alaska cruise out of Vancouver next year :goodvibes

I agree with everyone else definitely not too long! I really appreciate all the pictures and details. We don't have anything planned for Seattle yet and you have given me alot of great ideas :goodvibes I can't wait to hear about your first day on the Wonder! Thanks!

That is so cool! I love that! Now you just need to come to Charlotte to show me stuff to do...haha!

It's much harder to get Jeremy to do straight faces as opposed to silly ones, then the pictures are just boring, because that isn't his personality to just stand there and be normal...HAHA Thanks so much! I am glad you are loving the TR! I finally get to start on the cruise part today!

Yay!! Happy customers...LOL, I am so glad you all appreciate it! I was getting worried for a little bit, I didn't want to dissapoint anyone!

I totally agree, your TR is fabulous! I have lived minutes from Seattle all my life and you have convinced me I need to take some time to explore the city more. You've given me a whole new appreciation for Seattle.

And boy did you luck out on the weather!

Totally have been lurking and this is my first post!

Excitedly awaiting your TR, preparing myself for our first cruise ever in nine days on the Disney Wonder!
We just decided a week and a half ago to go so I feel so behind on the planning!

I am also loving your TR. The amount of detail and all of the photos are perfect. We are on the Aug. 6 Alaska sailing, and your TR is so whetting my appetite. We will be flying in to Seattle on Aug. 3 in the a.m. I have been keeping a list of activities for our 3 days in Seattle, but I have added a couple of things based on your TR. The food tours sound awesome, but I'm not sure my DD and DS (less than adventuresome eaters) would hang in for those. I did make some notes about the restaurants though, particulary Dahlia Cafe for breakfast and the restaurant with the chicken pot pie (since that is a new-found favorite food for my DD). Looking forward to the rest of your TR and hearing all about your Alaska cruise experience.

We totally lucked out with the weather! It was absolutely beautiful while we were in Seattle! I was all prepared for rain and cold, so I didn't really even bring any semi-warm weather clothing at all, it turned out to be alright, but I kept thinking uh, where is all this rain everyone talks about...haha

Oh wow! I think that is kind of good though because I had so much time to plan things I got a little tired of doing it after a while, but it will still be fresh for you and it being so close your anticipation will stay high!

There were kids on our Pike Place Tour, and they all seemed to love everything we tried! Also, they do substitutions for things people can't eat, or don't like so if you are still interested in it then I would shoot them an email and just ask, it can't hurt. As far as them being picky eaters, I am trying to remember if there was anything strange on the Pike Tour, I mean, it was like doughnuts, fruit, chocolates, mac & cheese, all pretty normal things! Just something to keep in mind if you are interested ;) Thank you so much for reading!

I am so happy to be getting such great feedback from you all!!! You should see how big my smile is right now as I eat some Cabernet Cherries from Chukar Cherries...the Honey Pecans are already gone...darn it! So anyway, I am getting ready to work on the next installment as soon as I finish typing this reply, oh and one more note...we had such a great time on the Wonder we decided that we wanted to go on another Disney cruise so today, we booked a 5 Night Bahamian on the Dream for August 19th, so only 58 days from now! I did online check-in this afternoon and booked an excursion for Nassau, so that is now rolling along nicely as well!! So back to the Alaska TR we go!!

To hear those words was one of the things I have been waiting for since I initially booked our first DCL cruise! We entered on Deck 4 Starboard Side which I heard was unusual and then were ushered down the grand staircase, we were some of the first guests onboard so there were no characters out just yet, but I was keeping my eyes peeled for them! I remembered that we needed to go to Wavebands about the Palo reservation so that is where we headed next! Onward to Route 66!

Day4_36.jpg

There were already cruise staff selling buckets of beer and wine that could be sent to your room outside of wavebands...they are really on point when it comes to that sort of thing. We did not buy any however, as tempting as it was to see their cheerful faces ready to sell us whatever we wanted! We had made it to Wavebands!

Day4_37.jpg

There was already a tiny line of people waiting, maybe 3 or so ahead of us, so we sat down next to a Platinum Castaway Club Member...I was thinking whoa, maybe I will get there eventually someday. We got in a little conversation with him, it was his second time to Alaska, they had gone last year as well, they loved it so much they decided to go again! At precisely 12:30 the lady from Palo, whose name I cannot recall at the moment, but I do know she was from France, told everyone that their system was down at the moment but she would take everyone's information and as soon as it was available she would call us. We gave her our info about wanting High Tea and were on our way. We left Wavebands and kept going down just to check out the rest of the places and then stopped for a sec to look out the portholes.

Day4_39.jpg

As we headed out of Route 66 we ran into Pixie08, they were done with lunch already and were heading into Wavebands to change their Palo reservation to a different night. We decided that we were starting to get a little hungry so we headed up to Beach Blanket Buffet on Deck 9 Aft! Once we got our plates of food, there was nowhere to sit, inside or out, so we just kept walking and found a free table beside the Mickey Pool. We then dug in, but not before I took photos! I remembered this time! I had a Grilled Chicken Breast, Broccoli, Pasta Salad, Mashed Potatoes, some Cheese Cubes and Bread! It was really yummy, I guess as good as buffet food can be, but I wasn't disappointed! I have heard both sides about the food on the ship so I was going to keep an open mind!

Day4_46.jpg

Jeremy had Salad, Pasta, Chicken, Salmon and a Roll, I think that was it. He said he enjoyed his food too, so a good start for the food. I think we got dessert too, but I can't remember what we had...hmmm...maybe some kind of parfait? Oh I don't know what I had. So much for being detail-oriented! Oh wait!, I know it was a Vanilla Raspberry Parfait and Jeremy had a piece of chocolate cake!

Day4_47.jpg

We were about to leave the table and Jeremy was taking the last sip of drink out of his cup and he looked inside of it and giggled, He thought it was funny that there was a Mickey head made of condensation inside his cup! You find Hidden Mickeys in the most unexpected places! Was that some sort of Disney Magic, Who knows but we sure thought it was cool!

Day4_50.jpg

After we ate we started looking around some more on the top decks of the ship. We still had plenty of time, like an hour or so before our room would be ready. We still couldn't get over what a nice day it was outside! We really lucked up..would our weather luck stay this good on the rest of the trip? Maybe I should find some wood to knock on!

Day4_45.jpg

After exploring the top Decks, we made our way down to Deck 4 to check out the shuffleboard situation. We knew we definitely wanted to play sometime in our week onboard! I had this nostalgic idea that it would almost be like we were in some century old ocean liner crossing, playing shuffleboard on the teak wood deck...ahhh...back to reality. We were still in port so, if I wanted that feeling I would still have a little while to wait! I love the color of the lifeboats! It is just so Disney to be able to change sometime like that!

Day4_54.jpg

The chaise loungers on Deck 4 looked so inviting, we couldn't resist a little relaxation time on them, we were on vacation after all! They are definitely super comfy, if you are going on a cruise you should totally try them out!
I think Jeremy may have even fallen asleep in one for a minute! Nice ocean breeze wafting through the outside deck! It was fantastic!

Day4_56.jpg

We had finally made it to 2:00 which meant that our rooms were ready! Yay!! I couldn't wait to get down there and hang my FE and decorate my door with all of the magnets! Our stateroom was #5635, Inside Stateroom on the Aft end of the ship, very convenient to loads of things! Has anyone ever noticed that the fish looks a little paranoid? I hope that is not some kind of sign...LOL

Day4_62.jpg

Everyone, even our travel agent said that we would regret having an inside stateroom on an Alaskan cruise...as for this moment, I didn't know, I was more worried about all that light from outside getting in, not to mention that the cost would have been doubled had we gotten an outside or even more a verandah. I wasn't worried too much about it. We have been on 2 previous cruises, the 1st being a Bahamian Carnival Cruise, and the 2nd an Eastern Caribbean on Royal Caribbean. We had inside rooms on both of those as well and we were never in the room long enough to even worry about it. So anyways, I had packed my magnets and Fish Extender in the luggage I had with me so I hung that up and then put all the magnets on! I was so proud of my little Toy Story Door, although there was one tiny, or maybe large problem. I had printed my Mickey Porthole Ears TOO big! Oh well, I have two other sets to switch them out with! I just have to remember that before our next cruise so I can fix it!

Day4_61.jpg

By the time I finished putting all the magnets up our luggage arrived! I wasn't expecting them for a long while so it was a nice surprise to get them so quickly! It was great that we had time to get everything unpacked before our DIS-Meet Up in the Promenade Lounge at 3:15! One thing I had not done yet was check and see if our FE Gifts made it ok, they were still in the priority flat rate box I had shipped them in. I opened the box, they had been jiggled around a bit but all in all really good shape! Since the cruise is over now I can finally reveal what we did! There were 12 cabins in our FE, so we decided to make one gift for each cabin! Now we wanted to play to our talents, so we made 12 Custom Painted Vinylmations. Jeremy did the paint part and customized them to look like the "Deadliest Catch" Mickey. I used my photoshop skills to create the inserts and background for the packaging!

Day4_66.jpg

Day4_68.jpg

We were not going to deliver them just yet, so we just put them on the table to hang out until we decided to take them around! We wanted everyone to have time to hang up their FE's! Some of you may have noticed from our KTTW Cards, but I also have a photo of our dining tickets! We had 2nd seating and a rotation of PTTAPTA, which was what I had requested!! I wanted to be in Tritons on Formal Night and Parrot Cay on Pirate Night! I was so glad that it worked out!

Day4_63.jpg

I know this is random but one of my favorite things in the room was a simple pillow, but it is just one of those things that made me smile :cloud9:

Day4_64.jpg

By now it was almost 3:00 and about time for us to head up to our Meet-Up! I can't wait to see who all shows up!

OMG your FE gifts are amazing, your both so talented!

We did the Alaska repo cruise and had the same rotation as you on table 77, I wonder if you'll have our server, I guess i'll wait and see.

I thought that was the 1st Starbucks, i've said in my TR it is, oh well.

I love the red pillows as well.

Wow, those FE vinylmations are amazing! Your FE group was lucky!

Thank you! I wanted out first FE Gifts to be special, We indeed shall see if our servers were the same...I'm sorry :sad1: I didn't mean to ruin your Starbucks fantasy! I am glad someone else loves those red pillows!

Aww, how sweet thank you! We only saw like 3 of them after we gave them out and they all loved them, so I was very happy about that!

Haha DS and I were about 2 inches to the right :rotfl:
I LOVE those FE gifts!! You guys MADE those?!

What a great spot to watch the ship sail away!! I wish we could have made it back over there when we got back to Seattle to see the next group embark. Ok so here is the story on the FE's. Our local Toys R Us was having a closing sale, we bought tons of little cars magnets which were originally in that plastic packaging. We took those out, but I kept the backing and the little insert inside to use as reference. I scanned those into photoshop so they would be the correct size and just added my own graphics and wording and such, printed them out, laminated them and I had the packaging completed! I have some photos of how they entire things were constructed that I will put up at the end for anyone interested in that! Jeremy was an art major in college and still does a lot of drawing and painting. So we took just regular 3" vinylmations and he custom painted them all to a photo of Mickey from Alaska!

This is the same MDR rotation we have requested! I am glad to hear that your request was fulfilled. So impressed with your FE gifts.

I hope you get your request! I really enjoyed that rotation! Thanks, we had a blast making them! I love being creative with stuff like that, I also wanted to do something no one else would, so I was trying to be original...:rotfl2:

Before I get this one started I just want to thank everyone again for the kind words about my TR and my FE Gifts! I really appreciate every one of you! Also, I posted some photos showing the process of making our Custom Vinylmation FE Gifts, it can be found in the section on the very first page with the navigators, etc! Hope you enjoy that! Now where were we, Ahh yes I remember!

We left our room and made our way down to Deck 3 to the Promenade Lounge for our official DIS Meet-up! We were the second ones there, we walked in and saw the family of "bkoehl", they were the other family that we met on the Savor Seattle Pike Place Tour! It was just about 3:15 and then more and more people started showing up!! It was so funny, everyone kept recognizing me, I couldn't tell if it was because I was the only one with an actual photo as my avatar or because I made 10 billion posts on that board, but either way it was really great getting to put faces with DisBoard names!! We all hung out and talked for a bit, getting to know each other, making sure the FE group had the correct room numbers for everyone! We did have to be quick, however, because the Muster Drill was about to start! We said goodbye to everyone and headed toward our Muster Station which was Q.

I seriously should have taken photos of all of this stuff, but for some reason I was really absorbed into meeting everyone and then getting to our station. So bear with me, I will have photos again later on in this segment. So, if you have never been on the Disney Wonder, (we had not), Q happens to be located inside Animator's Palate. I just assumed that all of the stations would be outside, I was wrong. We got a little sidetracked trying to find it, but then we looked at the map a little better and realized that it was inside. I kind of felt bad, because I was like...if the ship is going down, why am I running inside away from the boats, I want to be outside WITH the life boats. Oh well, I got over that quickly. We checked in and got seated until we heard all of the safety information. The entire thing maybe took 20 minutes, then we were free to go, so we high-tailed it to Deck 10 and got a great spot for the "Adventures Away" Party! I love this photo because not only can you see me, you can also see Jeremy taking the photo, and the people on Deck 9 getting read for the party!

Day4_71.jpg

Sorry to disappoint you all but I have no photos of the Party, only video which I will gladly show you at the end of my TR! Don't worry though, it shouldn't take me too long to finish at the rate I am going! I will however tell you that I started tearing up when I heard the ship blow it's horn for the very first time! I guess I was just overcome with joyful emotion! :lmao: The party was still going strong when we decided to walk to the Aft part of the ship to take some photos and video of us leaving the Port of Seattle!

Day4_72.jpg

While we were back there we met some very nice people from Niagara Falls, NY taking photos also! They were Platinum Castaway Clubbers, which was starting to be a trend I suppose. Everyone had lanyards on, Silver, Gold, DVC, us first time cruisers were beginning to feel outnumbered by all of these veterans! Done with our last Seattle photo op for now, we started walking around the ship again! Have any of you who have been on a cruise noticed how many things say Disney Wonder on them! Tons, even something a simple as this bench was made WONDERful!!

Day4_70.jpg

Have I told you all how much I adore my husband! As we were walking arm and arm on Deck 4 for some reason he decided to take my sunglasses from me and do a little pose, which to me looked something like "Someday my Prince Will Come", all I could do was think to myself that I already found him!

Day4_73.jpg

We made our way back to our stateroom to hang out a little and look over the Navigator to see what else we wanted to do! When we got there we saw that they had put a DVC magnet on our door!! I was so happy about that, I don't know how they know these things, but I love them because they do! We also had some mail on our fishy mailbox! We got some note cards from Palo with our times on them! Brunch 6/12 10:30am...check, Dinner 6/16 8:30pm (Our 5th Anniversary)...check, and OMG 6/13 3:00pm High Tea!! Woohoo, our reservation had come through!! We will get to have a High Tea before it goes extinct! The only thing that may be a problem, was that It was on our Tracy Arm Day, and the time is right in the middle of the viewing time, ahh well we will worry about that when we have to! What a great start to our cruise!

The "All Aboard! Let The Magic Begin" Show was at 6:15 in the Walt Disney Theater (Deck 4 Forward). We got there a little bit early so we got to revel in the beauty of this theater for a bit, and take photos of course!

Day4_74.jpg

The show was about a boy named Jeremy...hey did they write this about us...no they didn't but anyways...I forgot to mention it before but this go round our cruise director was Jimmy! We really had a great time at the first show, we were also entertained by a juggling comedian named Sideshow Bert. After the show I wanted to go over to the Future Sales Desk to get a quote on a cruise we had looked into before coming on this one! Jeremy's birthday is in January and there is a 4 Night Bahamian on the Dream leaving on the 6th, his actual birthday, it seemed like a really good deal! The Future Sales Desk was open from 7pm to 8pm that first night so on our way back to our room to get ready we stopped by and saw Tai! It took us all of 5 minutes to get a quote, find out the deals and BOOK our next Disney cruise! Gotta love that 10% Discount and a $100 onboard credit!

Instead of going back to our room right away we ended up heading over to Studio Sea for Mickey Mania..but be careful its Insania! Again, I have a great hubby, he took the reins and wrote down some TR notes for me!!

Day4_75.jpg

We couldn't play Mickey Mania because we didn't have a child and on the first night of the cruise I didn't want to commandeer anyone else's children just to play that game, so we watched! It was really cute, we cheered them on as they answered their trivia questions and had a great time! When it was all over we did run down to the room to get ready for dinner which tonight was in Parrot Cay! I know Parrot Cay is sort of Island Themed, it really looks like the walls and birds on the chandeliers are going to come alive and start singing "At the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room" they didn't, but I know some of you have thought that before too!

Day4_76.jpg

FYI, as I post what we are having for dinner I am adding in links to Dinner Menu photos on the front page of the TR, down alongside the Navigators for the corresponding days! In case you want to take a peek at some of the offerings!

So we made our way down to Parrot Cay for our very first dinner! Our table number was 75 so, we walked down, sanitized our hands :thumbsup2 and walked into Parrot Cay, told them our table number and we were led that way! I have been so looking forward to seeing who we would be eating with at Dinner! I have heard such great stories about people making really good friends, swapping excursion stories, and just having fun with their table mates. So here we are headed right towards our table, it is a 4 person table, but when we get there...there are only 2 place settings. We looked at each other a little confused. Turns out we would be eating by ourselves the entire week. We were a little bummed, but as soon as we met our server Mario from Croatia and assistant server Tricia from Trinidad, we knew instantly that it would not be a problem at all!! I learned very early to just eat Whatever Mario told me to, and I would not be disappointed! I did exactly that! For appetizers I ordered the Island Spiced Seared Ahi Tuna

Day4_77.jpg

It was marinated in a yuzu, Soy, and Ginger dressing served with fragrant mushrooms and Fire-toasted cuban bread! It was really good, I quite enjoyed it! Jeremy chose the Jamaican Marinated Chicken Tenderloins, they were in a sizzling spicy Jerk Sauce with a Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing

Day4_78.jpg

I did also want to mention that tonights Bread Selection was the Banana Bread, and it was Excellent! I had heard a lot about it and it did not let me down one bit! For my soup I chose the Cream of Green Asparagus with Crabmeat and Asparagus Tips, again something I really enjoyed (and of course it was recommended by Mario), Jeremy got the Parrot Cay Salad which consisted of Fresh tender Spinach tossed with sliced Red Onions, Mushrooms, and a warm Bacon Dressing topped with crisp bacon and a chopped Egg.

Day4_79.jpg

Now time for our entrees! Jeremy went with the Island-Spiced Grilled Rib-Eye of Beef which was topped with handmade spiced Butter, Corn on the Cob, and Double-baked Potato! I had the Mixed Grill, it consisted of a Grilled Beef tenderloin Steak, Lamb Chop, bacon Wrapped Sausage, and Jumbo Shrimp on Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus, and grilled Tomato with a Cabernet Mushroom Sauce!

Day4_80.jpg

You guys remember me telling you the cruise motto, "If You See It, Eat It" well that was definitely in full effect tonight! We had one more course to go and were going to do our best Man V Food and take it down! I got the Lemon Meringue Pie on Kumquat Sauce and Jeremy opted for the Chocolate S'More Vanilla Cake a Rocky Road style rich Chocolate Cake topped with Crackling Marshmallows served with Dulce de Leche Sauce!

Day4_81.jpg

It was so funny, we were the first of their tables to sit down, as well as order and we were the last to leave! This was the beginning of a trend! A tally of the scores revealed that I was the winner for the evening: 2-1-1, I won for the Tuna and the Soup, Jeremy won for the Rib-eye, and the dessert was a tie! After dinner we had planned on going to Wonder Quest, but man were we tired, especially considering we had eaten the entire kitchen! We just decided to call it a night and make our way back to the room for bed! Even before we left for dinner Mario had commented on how tired and worn out we looked...and he was 100% correct! We made it back down to 5635 and YAY, we already had FE Gifts!! The first one Jeremy pulled out just happened to be from our new friends the Schindels!! Hearing that name is getting all to familiar for us now! :rolleyes1 Which is totally a good thing! :thumbsup2

Day4_82.jpg

We opened our door and with this lovely sight staring back at us, who wouldn't want to jump in for a good night's sleep??

Day4_83.jpg

Our first towel animal was a lovely Swan, and we got a DVC pack that had lanyards in them! We would fit in at last tomorrow when we wore them proudly! Our new Navigator was there for us to look over. Luckily while we were in the terminal I took some Less Drowsy Dramamine just in case because right now you could definitely feel the ship swaying! A quick check of the TV Map showed us right outside of Port Angeles, which most people will know from the Twilight series of books and films, but for now it was time to get in bed and be rocked to sleep by the Disney Wonder :cloud9:

You have to tell me (I leave in a week) how you liked doing the tea on tracy Arm day. For some reason that is when I booked the tea. Now I am regreting it. We have done the tea before so if we miss it I am okay, but darn I don't want to miss prime viewing time. How was it (you can PM me if you don't want to give it aways before you post)?
