Hi All,

I didnt know whether to start this but I had an idea that I was thinking of doing.

Most of us have facebook! :) and the DIS has some amazing groups on there for all listeners and fans. But I had the idea of maybe start a UK DIS Fan Group :D

We're we can all connect more, maybe plan some more events etc..

Would love to get you're thoughts :D

Jamie

theres a disboards uk group on there but its not really used. :thumbsup2

you could start one, Im sure many would join :)

personally I stay away from the facebook groups as Forums are getting quieter these days.

Yeah I saw that one :)

Yeah I'm thinking about it cause Facebook is becoming more way of the world haha :)

You should come and join the fun :thumbsup2 it be good fun.. The Group would be for fans and the podcast and the boards :D

I'm sure you would get some people joining,:) but like Nicky said, to me the problem with Facebook groups is that it is taking away the traffic from the Community forum.

We have noticed on here a massive decline in posters since Facebook has become so popular and I'm sure a lot of posters like me would love people to start using the Community forum for all aspects of chat regarding not only Disney, but anything else within the board guidelines. :goodvibes

Ah okay :) I'll admit that I'm a HUGE DIS Fan! and would love to make the UK DIS Community Board HUGE! :D Like that we could have a huge meet etc.. I've got plenty of ideas but I dont know what to do, I've got all the Information set up for the group what do you think?

Well as we are already a group, I think its a great idea to contribute your thoughts to the boards.
I would suggest if you have any specific things you want to organise, run them through by pm with the mods (myself and Mandymouse,) just so we can check its within board guidelines.

If your trying to organise a big meet, that sounds great, however start by seeing what intrest there is in having one. That will give you an idea of what quantity of posters would like to go, based on where your planning on it being held.

Hope that helps :-)

Even though I have FB I have one of they love hate relationships with it. I still prefer the forums. ;)

I think it's great that you have got some ideas for the UK Community Jamie, but I think it would be good for our forums if we kept all plans on here rather than on FB

I think the first thing you need to do is to set up some polls to see what the interest is. Maybe you want to arrange a meal somewhere here, a night out or even a meet up in Orlando

I look forward to hearing about your ideas ::yes::

Thanks for the Idea :), I'll admit, I've emailed the owner of the Boards about my ideas and is usually quite good replying :)

Am I aloud to say one idea...

DIS Event every year somewhere in the UK for example?

DIS Event every year somewhere in the UK for example?

people are interested in Meets, someone usually suggests them but they never see it through to the end.
If you could arrange it, im sure many would go.

However bear in mind people are from all over the UK. :goodvibes
Midlands is usually suggested as its the middle of the country-however thats too far for people in Wales and Scotland.

Perhaps a couple each year may work.
oh and plenty of notice as many have holidays/families etc. :thumbsup2

Good luck.xx

FB is a bore, much prefer to post here than on there, there are meets think there a couple a year.tony romas comes to mind, and some girls shopping ones.Me don't plan on going to any meets as i prefer to have more disney time,if i bump into someone from the dis not a problem.to me the boards are for passing on our love of Disney to others

It's great to see your enthusiasm but I have to agree with Paul that face book doesn't appeal to me. I have always enjoyed the friendliness of these UK boards although I've been sad to see the drop off in usage in the past few years.

There are meets already organised to which anyone who is able can attend but they are never end up being huge affairs.

I do feel the main use of the boards is to connect people virtually.

I do have a FB from way back which was originally set up to keep in touch with my niece when she went backpacking round the world, and it's been very useful tonight when I needed to contact my DD only to find her phone was dead. However I venture on it so rarely that I think I'd feel a bit like I was stalking people if I started looking at their pages and reading their conversations - does that make sense?

This is still such a friendly board - I just wish it was as active as it used to be. :sad2:

Same :thumbsup2

One thing to keep in mind that I have not seen mentioned on here is that the DIS is moderated and has an 'acceptable code of conduct' is is fairly well enforced and provides a safe haven to share views and opinions, and even to disagree at times.

Facebook does not offer that protection and sometimes, with a large number of folk who are effectively complete strangers, a common love of all things Disney is not enough to keep things civil and pleasant.

I have to agree, the dis boards have gone really qiuet the past couple of years, and I for one miss all the regulars who used to post on here :sad1:
I don't use facebook at all so love going onto the boards

I am totally guilty of spending all my time on Facebook and not on here - I would lay the blame on using my iphone mostly as my laptop is on its last legs and it would seem good if there was a DIS app (I note Mike asked this on another thread).

I am addicted to Facebook and whatever spare time I have I am on my phone using it.

Me and dd still go on the DIS to read the trippies though.

:guilty:

I'm a member of the Disbrides FB group and the loosely attached Happily Ever After group, but I rarely post anything.

Much prefer posting on here. If there was a UK group I'd probably join but not be overly active in it.
