145 Middle Schoolers: Wicked Awesome or Epic Fail???DeParting-Such Sweet Sorrow p. 76

Good one Dee! Glad to see the EMT wasn't something serious! I want drama in this trip, just not like that. I hate to say it but so far, everything has gone so smoothly, it's been kind of boring! (j/k)

I'd like to see pictures of ASM. I doubt I'll ever stay there but I have this idea of the All Star resorts being there huge gaudy places with huge gaudy figures everywhere.

Thanks for sharing so far.

Ninja Mom, wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks dear!

Dee I think you are doing a great job with the timely updates so thanks a million for keeping me sane as I recover from my surgery. I'm sure Nannette and I would be the worst patients in the hospital ward, :crutches: banging on the bars, demanding to be set free from our troubles. Your trip reports and the reports from Feckless and Janet sure do put a wag in my tail :dogdance: especially since I'm still having my good moments and rough moments in recovery.

This trip chaperoning business sure has got me thinking. At first glance I think that a Disney trip is something that I would definitely sign up for to be a chaperone. Now I'm not so sure. Intellectually I know that a trip like that would have to be on a whole different set of terms and I wonder if I would have the patience to deal with that. On the other hand I would love to share my knowledge and enjoyment of Disney with kids other than my own, knowing that even though they may not be able to express their appreciation of the experience, I would still be making an impact on them in some small positive way.

You are a saint for taking this on this chaperone responsibility. I love the fact that you are sharing this with us! This just adds a whole new dimension to all those things that make up visiting WDW. I'm sure the insights and adventures you will be sharing in this trip report will be of further benefit to all of us who love WDW.

THANKS! ::yes::

I have traveled as a chaperone on several trips and one to Disney when I was in college (but the kids were also older so it was different). I know it can be stressful but you did great!

I think the no electronics rule for the kids is great! I don't know if I could do 5 days though so I am glad you could stay connected, even without alcohol!

Glad the girl was OK. On a Disneyland trip in high school we had a girl have a medical emergency on the flight. Turned out to be dehydration too but it did get us priority landing on a day when most planes were circling the airport waiting!

Thanks dear!

Awww. And the Nicest Post Ever award goes to... NinjaMom!

Dee - I agree with everything Ninja said. You are a saint for taking on this role, and we love you for sharing it with us.

NinjaMom - hope you get a bit better each day (you too Nan!)

This would be me, if I had to be "keeper of all things" I couldn't take that stress!

Glad the girl was ok and hopefully there were no more medical issues.

Funny that your son included his last name! :rotfl: Maybe he thought you might forget him!

Enjoying your trip report and looking forward to reading more.....

Well I love the handy dandy links..I got caught up fast.
I would be so worried about my DD if she passed out...but I would've been at the airport with her...because I would HAVE to be a chaperone! :rotfl:

Yes, fortunately it was not a serious issue, but boy did that jump start the adrenaline.

There are definitely huge figures everywhere. Gaudy or well-themed? You be the judge.

I'm glad that this report, and other wonderful ones (with Beach Club settings) are helping you get through your rough times! :grouphug:

As I have already said, I plan to chaperone's Ben's trip. Mark was considering it too. Until I came back with my stories. Although if it was the two of us, I think some of the issues would be eliminated. Plus, I have close friends who I suspect would be chaperoning, too. For this trip, I wasn't really close to any of the others prior to the trip.

Did the girl get to continue the trip?

I'm with you, Janet- that was a wonderful post and I also send healing thoughts to Ninja and Nan.

Funny that your son included his last name! :rotfl: Maybe he thought you might forget him!

Enjoying your trip report and looking forward to reading more.....

For the most part I call him Ben, not Benjamin, so to see the whole name written out cracked me up. We had an issue in preschool where the teachers and students all called him Ben (last name). And they would refer to me as Ben (lastname)'s mother. Ben got fed up and finally said to everyone "You can call me just Ben" And one of the teachers started calling him Just Ben.

Ben's concerns may have been valid though. Here is another text exchange with home:

Thursday
5:24 PM: Packed!!! How are my kitties?

5:27 PM: They are doing fine. Oreo is STILL fat. But Monster is hitting everyone.
5:28 PM: By the way, BEN is FINE.

I'm late to the party, but her now....now to go back and catch up

Not late- I'm just getting to the All Star Movies part. I'll post a few here (Love Bugs, main resort and my room), but I went on a photo tour to all sections so I'll add those to the photo thread when I have minute.

Well I love the handy dandy links..I got caught up fast.

It was really scary to see the EMTs surrounding the girl. I really felt badly for her, the chaperones who were with her and the nurse.

And my second thought?

This is SO going in the trip report!!!

YES we would!!! and I DISLIKE crutches!!!

Thank you Janet!

Thanks, Nannette!!!

I know your foot issue has been such an ordeal, a pain literally and figuratively! You would have fit right in on our trip though. Two kids in wheelchairs (same "walking" group), casts, and thumb splints!

Loving the trip report so far, and your titles make me want more! :thumbsup2

I wish my school would have gone to WDW- that would have been the trip of a lifetime! But I can't complain, I did an extracurricular roller coaster physics class, and at the end of the class, we took a trip to Great America in California and made a pit stop in San Fransico. :goodvibes

:welcome:

I'm so glad you are enjoying the report!

That sounds like a pretty cool trip, too.

Great resort pics! I really like the No Electronics Rule. It probably made your job a little easier. Sounds like a really large group. I would definitely be counting and recounting. That's a lot of responsibility! Luckily, they had you in charge. :thumbsup2 On our last trip, any time I had to take out a card for a discount, I had to keep counting to make sure all my cards - room key, Visa, DVC card, passholder, etc. were in place.

I was afraid that the girl was having an allergic reaction to one of the snacks provided, but that turned out not to be the case.

As the relative of a family member with a food allergy, that was my first thought too. Glad to hear that was not the case.

Dee - thanks for taking us on the tour! Wow, you are right, creepy creepy - jack-in-the-box? I have to say the gardens are pretty, never toured a value resort.

Love the Mickey waffles. Reminds me of years ago when BC and BW Bakery had large Mickey donuts. My kids loved them and then one year they just stopped serving them.

What great resort pictures! I've always thought the value resort theming was so bright and colorful and that we might enjoy them. But, I can't get over the fact that there's just one big bus stop and they aren't covered. I know that's an odd thing to worry over but it's kept us from trying a value resort.

I love the TR via text message technique! :lmao: Your family knows you so well.

Despite some bumps in the road (EMTs, plane delays, people who don't know MCO :scared1:), you guys have safely made it to Disney! What did you think of All-Star Movies?

That is a lot of tickets/vouchers to keep track of. I hate having to keep track of mine and Franklin's when we're there, I can't imagine multiplying that by seven.

ETA: Oops! I hadn't seen the walking tour of the resort before I posted...I'll post more after I finish those chapters.

Thanks for the tour of the resort. I love all the icons at the values, they are just so festive. You got some fabulous photos! :worship:

I also find myself envious of value food courts, you just don't get those kind of options at the Deluxes.

Can't wait to hear more. :goodvibes

Great pictures of the resort! I love the theming of the hotel especially for families with younger children.

Totally agree with your opinion of 2nd creepiest thing at Disney!

Great trip report writing!:flower3:
