Your ULTIMATE SURVIVAL GUIDE to Disney World at Christmas Time! UPDATE x2 10/21

Yay for more TSM!! It is such a fun ride! And I love your TS shirt too...adorable!! I love that style of them. I have never seen them that big!! My son had Buzz & Woody pajamas that looked like that! Except I haven't seen the Buzz shirt since our trip in 2010. Wahhhh. :sad1: You are adorable!

YUM! Cape May Cafe looks so good. What a fantastic option they have!! I really need to go over and try, especially after all your great pics! Fantastic!

I'm trying to watch what I eat right now . . . . I definitely should not have read this update while eating my yummy but way to reasonably portioned lunch! I'm still hungry! :rotfl:

Those pics of the Swan and Dolphin at night are amazing! That resort looks so beautiful..I can't wait to check it out in September. We are staying at the Boardwalk Villas, so I'll be sure to walk all around there.

Om nom nom!! That food looks amazing!! I can't say I've ever had crab legs, but those look intriguing! I've definitely put Cape May on my list of food places to try!

Also yay for pins! I really need to get some more, I bought a lanyard and a friend and I split a couple of packs here and there through our trip, but I want to actually trade next time!!

Ahhh your Cape May pictures are making me want to make an ADR for there so badly!! But we're limiting how many sit downs we do this trip so I don't think we're going to make it there :( I'm hoping I can try the Mickey Bon-Bons at some point though since we're staying Club Level!

Thanks again for picking up the antenna bopper for me, it looks great on my car

Jess:

Your pictures of the Yacht and Beach club are helping me out a whole lot. My family will be staying there... well, in about a week! And you shoot those pictures with such love and care. We are going to be eating breakfast only at Cape May, though the dinner pictures look nice. Maybe someday.

Thanks so much for the kind words for my comments about Disneyland. I'm biased but I think it will always be my favorite Disney park. Currently I live about 90 minutes away but after my trip, sometime in July or August, we're moving to about 10 minutes away from Disneyland. When we can finally buy our passes again, we'll probably be there every weekend and a substantial number of weekdays.

There were a few things I missed previously, so I wanted to include them here:

1) World of Color is a show NOT TO BE MISSED! In fact, since you're there for 8 days, I'd recommend seeing it at least 3 times. It will make you cry very hard. The music is so special and the technology is very, very cool. You have to stand (or sit on hard ground) to wait for it but it's worth it. Here are some tips for you to get the best viewing area of WOC:

a) Eat a meal at the Wine Country Trattoria (pretty good food) or the Carthay Circle Theatre (brand new) and get a WOC package. The seating for that is quite nice

b) short of that, they hand out fastpasses. As a resort guest you have an advantage. The fastpasses are handed out close to the entrance to DCA from the Grand Californian. If you get there before rope drop, you are allowed, as a resort guest to enter in there. Get there early and try to get the best color.

c) If at all possible, sit (stand) closest to the lagoon. YOU WILL GET WET! But it will be pretty warm when you go so it shouldn't matter that much and they have flamethrowers that will have the affect of drying you off after you get wet. The closer you are to the water, the better the show is.

d) short of that, Always remember to stand behind a gate with no people between you and the gate, even if you have to go back a step in paradise park. This will prevent an inconsiderate parent who puts there 5 foot tall kid on thier shoulders right in front of you (I hate this and I HAVE a 5 foot tall kid! and a 4 foot tall one too!)

e) I don't remember the color scheme but if you get there late and they only have poor colors, there is usually a second show. It behooves you to go to that one and try to time it so you are one of the first two color areas chosen.

2) Soundsational Parade: The daytime soundsational parade is a very cool parade with awesome music. It's very much worth seeing. I'd recommend taking a break from your touring and finding a nice spot. Personally, I think that either you should set up in "Small World promenade" with a bucket of popcorn in front of you or right there in Town Square of Main street with a good churro. Try to get there at least one hour before the show. It's a very nice little parade with an extremely catchy theme song (that's playing in my head right now!)

3) Food recommendations:

Since you're going to be staying SO long, here are some choices:

Blue Bayou-Food isn't great but the ambience is awesome.

Bengal BBQ-Very tasty little BBQ skewers

River Belle Terrace-For Breakfast Only-sit outside right next to the Rivers of America. Very serene

Hungry Bear-Some very tasty choices. Sit as far back as possible at lunch time and watch all the activity on the Rivers of America

Cafe Orleans-Table service restaurant. Serves many of the same things as Blue Bayou. One of Walt's favorite restaurants

Tomorrowland Terrace-I think they have come back as a food choice. They have a wonderful fish sandwich that is surprising coming from a place like that. You can watch interesting musical acts at night.

IN DCA:

Wine Country Trattoria-Decent Italian food and WOC passes.

Taste Pilot's Grill-LOVE the ribs! If you want ribs, this is your place. Oh and a nice little fixin' bar also.

Award Wieners-Good Hot Dogs of all different kinds if you like that

Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta/Garden Grill-A very nice area at the back of Paradise Pier. Excellent food. I'm partial to the Garden Grill area and it's rarely crowded. The food is excellent. I worry that it will go away because it's been so easy for me to just walk up and get food there. Also, they have live music playing at lunch time. If you have eclectic taste in music, it's a wonderful spot with a very nice atmosphere.

The Pacific Wharf Cafe-My Daughter (who is 7) dreams about the broccoli soup bread bowls here. I personally prefer the clam chowder. All in all, a bread bowl can be found at two places in Disneyland and here in DCA and they are always awesome.

Other than this, I will say that there are some new restarants going in over in Carsland and Buena Vista street that are worth trying.

Oh and two other "attractions" I wanted to mention because I didn't before in DCA:

1) California Screamin'- Very large, farily long and fast roller coaster. Not dissimiliar to the way I've heard Rock N Roller Coaster decribed. Has a nice single rider line. Just go up to the cast member at the front of the queue and tell him/her that you want to ride single rider

2) Bugsland- I suspect this is about to become "the forgotten land" of DCA but it's cute, especially for kids. My family's favorite is 'Hemlich's Choo Choo Train". Go check it out, it's cute beyond belief and themed after Hemlich from Bug's Life.

Ok, that's it for now. Keep writing your reports. I'm sure other things will occur to me. Just remember when you're there. Disneyland, while very familiar in many ways, has a slightly different vibe to it than WDW. Embrace that vibe! There is nothing wrong with that. It is Walt's first park and for that, it deserves respect. Yes, the castle is smaller than Florida but that doesn't make it any less impressive. I do hope you will come away from this experience loving this park as much (or at least close to as much) as you do WDW.

... anxiosly awaiting your next installment while I pack for my trip to the World. Yey Humidity! (just kidding):yay:

I am in love with the Epcot resorts. I can’t get over how beautiful they are. You got some amzing pictures of them!

I love your Woody shirt!

I am eating at Cape May in August on the first night of our trip. I can’t wait!

The food looks incredible. Oh. My. God.

The crab legs! Yummy!

I am going to have to try an oreo bon bon. They look so good!

I love the Mickey ornaments you drew on the Christmas tree. Very cute :cutie:

Wow, I missed 3 updates?! I love how much you're posting now! I need my frumpy Disney entertainment! :woohoo:

"This is Only the Beginning of the Toy Story Madness!" OOOH, I like the sound of this update.

"All of my cares and worries about school and life were just gone and my whole self was just HAPPY." Sigh... isn't that just the best feeling in the world? :cloud9:

You and your dad are precious on the ride together!!!

OK don't feel bad, I always get a low score the first time on TSM. It's just so overwhelming at first that your skill level kind of disappears and you're just like YAY I LOVE THIS RIDE. But then quickly I go into warrior mode and break plates like I'm getting paid to do it. WATCH OUT.

Whew. Sorry. I get violent when TSM is involved!

Ahhh now I need to go out and get a cupcake b/c this food porn is just too much for me. It's like when a song comes on and you just gotta dance. LOL. I actually made my dad cinnamon cupcakes with nutella frosting for his birthday yesterday, and they're almost all gone! SOOO GOOD. But now I want red velvet...

Awww what a cute child. It's odd to me when parents apologize to me about their children "bothering" me. I'm like, no, I love it!

I'm glad I remembered to remind you about the beignets!! They look amazing!

HAHA I so went on the slides at CBR when we stayed there. I didn't care that I was basically the only adult. I mean, if I see a slide, I will be sliding. Period.

The pic of you waving while on the serpant bridge is cracking me up for some reason. Your head is just so small compared to the massive serpant and you waving and being all smiley like HAI GUYS is killing me.

Wow, mousekeeping really went to town on your towel animals! I've never seen them stick all that stuff on like that before!

I love your Sheriff Woody shirt. I just bought the child size large boys version of it at the Disney Store the other day, LOL. They were all out of the Buzz one, unfortunately!

OH MAN the Epcot resort area is just the definition of serene. I MUST STAY THERE SOMEDAY!!

HAHA I love Kristen butting in to explain the quinoa. That is actually one of my favorite foods. Everything looks so good at Cape May. Usually I've avoided it cause I'm not big on seafood but it seems like there would be more than enough other options for me. And by that I mean I'll just eat 200 oreo bon bons.

I LOVE WHEN THEY LET YOU DRAW ON THE TABLE CLOTH! All restaurants should allow this.

OMG your pics. I WANT TO BE THERE RIGHT NOW!! Can't wait for moooore.

YAY! I was so excited for this update, especially since I'll be checking in at the Beach Club and eating at Cape May in 27 DAYS!!!

That resort is so gorgeous. I hope it's not too unbearably hot next month to walk that pathway between DHS and BC. It looks so pretty! :goodvibes

Ooooh that buffet food...come to mama! Seriously, I pretty muched booked that dinner for the crab legs and the Oreo bon bons, so I'm pretty there with you. I will spend my first night in Disney in a food coma. It's a fact.

Now that was a perfect review of Cape May! Everything looked so yummy. We have it booked for a breakfast, but I've only great things about that meal as well.

I'm so glad you enjoyed POFQ so much! I'm a POR gal, but I'm sure the similarities are numerous! We never made time to visit the big pool at POFQ as POR guest are allowed to use it, but maybe some day.

Kadence agrees totally with you on how creepy some of those statues are!:lmao:

Toy Story Mania! 170,000 is a great score.

You finding that Maelstrom FP pin is easily the greatest discovery anyone has ever made. I mean, electricity and cures for diseases have nothin' on that pin.

I love love love love LOVE your Woody t-shirt!! Where did you find it? I wish they'd sell a Jessie shirt so I wouldn't feel as weird when I yell 'KEEP SHOOTIN' BUCKAROOS!' at random people on the street.

The Epcot Resort Area is just too pretty.

Cape May! Sa-lads! Giant crab legs! Cups filled with melted butter! I haven't eaten dinner yet, so reading this was a bad idea. :rotfl:

Who knew the Swolphin was so festive at night? It's like they're trying to be all young and hip with the rainbow lighting. It looks really cool though. Nice job, Swolphin decorators! :thumbsup2

Just got all caught up and loving the trip report. Disney World at Christmas just seems extra magical. I think I'm inspired to go there for my next trip. I absolutely love Christmas decorations.

Cape May Cafe looks so yummy. Ultimately I hope to try every restaurant at World, which will take a while but I'm willing to put in the effort. Yay Disney World food!

Congrats on your next trip to Disneyland! I hope you have a blast. If you are looking for character interaction the Breakfast with Minnie and friends at Plaza Inn is good. The food was just your normal breakfast items but we met Minnie, Captain Hook, the Fairy Godmother, Tigger, Eeyore, Pooh, Chip and Dale. So it had a great variety of characters. Also I agree with others to try Blue Bayou. Its on my to do list because of the atmosphere is just great.

Also when I went a few years ago, Land had some great shows with the Disneyland band. I missed the one in front of the castle but saw the one right out by the park entrance. My husband even got pulled up for the dancing daddies section with the Mad Hatter. Its something he has yet to forgive me for but it was my dream come true. So you may be able to catch some if they are still there.

Can't wait for more updates. I think I'll pass the time by seeing if I can squeeze in a Christmas trip. :rotfl:

ALRIGHT. I think that's it. Any and all help would be appreciated!!! Thank you so much everyone! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!!!! :wizard:

I can't believe I just said that.

And yes, I am going to write MY VERY FIRST DISNEYLAND TRIP REPORT! Oh my gosh, I wanna cry. I'M SO HAPPY! :yay:

Continued in Next Post

Disneyland is MY area of expertise. Food wise, Blue Bayou is a must. It's inside of Pirates of the Carribean. It's wonderful! Make the ADR NOW!!!
I love the Carnation Cafe for breakfast. I think it's like Main Street bakery (maybe, since I haven't been yet). We loved Storyteller's cafe at GC, we did the chararter breakfast with chip & dale and it was fun and the food was awesome. Tomorrow Land Terrace was great for counter service and Jedi Training was done there (at least 3 years ago it was). In DCA we also ate at Mendocino Terrace and it was nice. Hearthstone at GC was nice, we got a couple drinks and had adult time there. Goofy's Kitchen is a must at Disneyland Hotel-we did it when Chandler was 18 months (in 2006). And Napa Rose is supposed to be amazing! We didn't go since we had the kiddos with us, but I want to next time.

I like this website for insider stuff to DL. They have major reports on construction and Cars Land (Jealous you are going)!

Are you getting a car? There are some cool places around there. We LOVE Newport Beach, very cool area and Balboa Island is fun to walk around, very So. Cali beach feel!

If you need more help, let me know! I loved the Unoffical Guide books, and the one for DL is nice. :)

AHH! FINALLY SOMEONE WITH MY LOVE OF CAPE WAY AND BEACH/YACHT/BOARDWALK RESORTS!! Oh my Mickey Mouse! They are just so amazing! Great trip report! Can not wait to see what other surprises your trip brought you. :thumbsup2

Hahaha of course! I love it there! Thank you so much! There are lots of more stories coming your way!

I read these updates at 4 am and all I can think of to say is...

YAY FOOD.

:rotfl2: That's all I can ever think of to say.

Fantastic!

Thank you! I love it too! I found it at Hot Topic actually - the only shirt I have EVER bought from that store! I wish I would have bought the Buzz one too! Thank you!

It was DELICIOUS! Yes you do! It really is a hidden gem!

I'm trying to watch what I eat right now . . . . I definitely should not have read this update while eating my yummy but way to reasonably portioned lunch! I'm still hungry! :rotfl:

Hahaha oh I completely understand. :rotfl: Writing these trip reports on an empty stomach is not easy, let me tell you!

Those pics of the Swan and Dolphin at night are amazing! That resort looks so beautiful..I can't wait to check it out in September. We are staying at the Boardwalk Villas, so I'll be sure to walk all around there.

Thank you! It really does! Yeah, you'll have to walk all around the Epcot Resort area - it's great!

Yay you definitely should! And crab legs are YUMMY! You should try them!

I always buy some on ebay so I can take them down to the World and trade! It works out very well because it's a lot less expensive!

Aww that stinks! Yeah, the oreo bon bons should be out for dinner!

You're welcome! I'm so glad you like it! :-)

Aww thank you for the kind words! I hope you guys have a MAGICAL trip. Staying at the Yacht Club is an experience like no other. You are going to fall in love with it. Swim in Stormalong Bay for me!! I can't believe you're going so soon!

Thank you SO MUCH again!!! Oh my gosh, you are awesome. I can't believe all of the great information you have supplied me. It's making me more and more excited!

And I will keep writing! Yes, I am expecting it to be different. One of the few things I remembered from my one trip there was the vibe Disneyland had, and it has stuck with me for all of these years. I can't wait to experience it again!

Thank you!

You're going to LOVE Cape May! Oh my God. I didn't even mention the mac and cheese in this update, but DANG it is good.

The oreo bon bons are AMAZING.

Thank you! Haha I like to incorporate Disney into everything!

Wow, I missed 3 updates?! I love how much you're posting now! I need my frumpy Disney entertainment! :woohoo:

Oh good, I'm glad you are a fan of that! I figured I needed to get a move on with this trip report because I'm not even halfway done yet. We really should all guess how many chapters I am going to have by the end of this thing. :rotfl:

"This is Only the Beginning of the Toy Story Madness!" OOOH, I like the sound of this update.

Heck yes.

"All of my cares and worries about school and life were just gone and my whole self was just HAPPY." Sigh... isn't that just the best feeling in the world? :cloud9:

Absolutely. I NEEDED this trip at this point in my life because my head was just spinning because of the whole transfer. It was just perfection.

You and your dad are precious on the ride together!!!

Aw thank you!

Hahaha why are we twins?!?! I love it.

LOL that's the perfect analogy. CINNAMON CUPCAKES!? NUTELLA FROSTING!?! How do you make Nutella frosting!?!? That's awesome.

Awww what a cute child. It's odd to me when parents apologize to me about their children "bothering" me. I'm like, no, I love it!

I know, I completely agree!

I'm glad I remembered to remind you about the beignets!! They look amazing!

Me too! THANK YOU! Bless your soul.

HAHA I so went on the slides at CBR when we stayed there. I didn't care that I was basically the only adult. I mean, if I see a slide, I will be sliding. Period.

Amen sister.

The pic of you waving while on the serpant bridge is cracking me up for some reason. Your head is just so small compared to the massive serpant and you waving and being all smiley like HAI GUYS is killing me.

HAHAHA I'm so glad you found that amusing. I always thought it was subtly hilarious in a very frumpy way.

Wow, mousekeeping really went to town on your towel animals! I've never seen them stick all that stuff on like that before!

I KNOW! POFQ is awesome.

I love your Sheriff Woody shirt. I just bought the child size large boys version of it at the Disney Store the other day, LOL. They were all out of the Buzz one, unfortunately!

Thank you! I got mine at Hot Topic actually. Weird, I know.

OH MAN the Epcot resort area is just the definition of serene. I MUST STAY THERE SOMEDAY!!

YES YOU MUST.

Hahaha she asked if she could, and I was like... sure, why not. I'm too lazy to fix it myself LOL. And OMG yeah you should go to Cape May. There is SO much more than seafood. The mac and cheese is AMAZING and the oreo bon bons are just worth the trip right there.

I LOVE WHEN THEY LET YOU DRAW ON THE TABLE CLOTH! All restaurants should allow this.

I KNOW.

OMG your pics. I WANT TO BE THERE RIGHT NOW!! Can't wait for moooore.

Thanks Lia!

OH MY GOD SO SOON!!!

I know. I can't even get over it. I hope it isn't either!

Mmmm you are going to LOVE that dinner. Enjoy it! EMBRACE THE FOOD COMA!

Now that was a perfect review of Cape May! Everything looked so yummy. We have it booked for a breakfast, but I've only great things about that meal as well.

Aww thanks! It really was awesome. You're going to love it, I'm sure!

I love POR too! Both of the resorts are really wonderful.

Hahaha Kadence knows what's up!

Toy Story Mania! 170,000 is a great score.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Just kidding it's like really good. I'm just insane. Please excuse my obnoxious behavior.

Hahaha I KNOW, RIGHT!? It's one of my most prized possessions.

Thank you! I actually got it at Hot Topic. Weird, I know. It's the only thing that I have EVER bought from that store. They had a Buzz Lightyear one, too. However, I didn't buy it and I kind of regret that. But oh well. HAHAHA a Jessie one would be adorable!

I agree!

LOL I know, writing this update made me so hungry.

I know! I was actually impressed with their display. It was extremely pretty!

If you are looking for character interaction the Breakfast with Minnie and friends at Plaza Inn.

:rotfl:

Thank you so much for reading! Going for Christmas is my FAVORITE. I hope you get to someday!

I definitely think it's an achievable goal! :thumbsup2

Thank you! And thanks for the tips! I will definitely keep them in mind!

Thanks! And haha that's a great idea!

Those are AWESOME tips!! Thank you so much for the advice! A lot of those restaurants are on my "want to try" list! I need to narrow it down.. there's too many!

Yes I think we are getting a car! Those places sound nice, I'll look into them!

And oooh the Unofficial Guide books! I forgot about those! Maybe I should get one!!

I am doing Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party December 14th as a gift to all my Bridesmaids, however, I noticed on that day we can't buy tickets ahead of time, do you have any suggestions/advice? Thanks!:cloud9:

Here is the Nutella frosting recipe:

Nutella Buttercream

You may need to double this if you like a lot of frosting on your cupcakes.

1/2 C butter, room temperature
1 C Nutella
1 C powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-2 T milk

Beat butter until smooth. Add Nutella and beat together until thoroughly combined. Slowly add powdered sugar, mixing until combined. Add vanilla and 1 tablespoon of milk. Add additional milk or powdered sugar as needed to reach desired consistency. Pipe or spread onto completely cooled cupcakes.

BUT I have to say... I was actually in an acting workshop alllll weekend and the only time I had to bake was at 2 AM when I got home on Saturday. I had only gotten like 3 hrs sleep the night before, performed all day, went out all night... so I was basically a zombie LOL and I just did not have it in me to make this frosting, so I just used the Nutella itself as frosting. I mean, it basically is frosting just by itself anyway, just a little more dense. My dad loved them and didn't know the difference anyway. So, if you're ever short on time, just spread the Nutella on without doing anything to it!

So, I think saying that I'm obsessed with these TRs is an understatement. I don't think I've been on this board a month yet and I've already read all of those you wrote :rotfl:

They're really well written and full of great information for Disney newbies :) I'm going for the first time ever in November (can I just mention in passing how extremely jealous I am of how many times you've been there? Like, woah) and though it's not exactly Christmas time, some of these tips are really gonna come in handy ^^ Like avoiding the Crystal Palace around 7:30 pm :P now I'm gonna go for lunch instead! (Cause my wife *has* to see Winnie the Pooh!)

Can't wait to read more, and I'll be looking forward to your review of Disneyland too when the time comes for that!

Hmmm.... are you sure there is definitely going to be a party that day? Because you're supposed to be able to buy tickets ahead of time. I would call Disney directly and ask :) That's a really great present though! Are you getting married in WDW? Or do you just live near the parks?

OH WOW! I am definitely going to need to make that.

But LOL that's really good to know, too! I mean, it probably still tasted amazing! Thanks for the tip, girl :)

Aww thank you for the kind words! I'm so glad you've been enjoying them!

I'm so glad that they're helpful! I'm SO excited for you, I'm sure you're going to have an amazing trip! Really cherish your first time seeing everything! It's going to be an amazing experience! :goodvibes And oh yes, Crystal Palace at 7:30 is REAL busy. Lunch is really good though! (actually, breakfast is my favorite meal at that restaurant, though. They have some unique options that you can't get at other Disney breakfast buffets - like Pooh's Puffed French Toast!)

I'm so glad you're here! And thank you! I am excited to keep on writing!

Chapter 52: "And At Last I See the Light..."
December 23rd, 2011

After a wrong turn or two and admiring all of the nighttime resort decorations, we finally made it back to Hollywood Studios!

A priceless quote came out of my father's mouth while we were walking, so I posted it on twitter:
"there's no such thing as fear!" "then why won't you go on it?" "because I'm scared of it." - my dad about the tower of terror. hahaha ♥

LOL gotta love him.

WELCOME BACK TO HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS!

dsc0638p.jpg

We got to the entrance of the park and asked a photopass photographer to take our picture. He was CRAZY and really fun. He took a bunch of pictures on the photopass card, which I unfortunately don't have. But he took a couple on my camera which I really liked!

dsc0640p.jpg

One more picture of that stunning tree!

dsc0641y.jpg

The cast member at the turnstile had a baby Aladdin pin! I traded for it so it would match my baby Jasmine. I usually hate those "baby" pins, but those ones were so cute. I couldn't resist!

dsc0643o.jpg

Hollywood Studios at night is TOO beautiful.

dsc0644d.jpg

dsc0645z.jpg

I went back to Toy Story Mania with Jonathan because we had ANOTHER set of fastpasses to use up from that morning. We got sent up the right side gate AGAIN!

I posted on twitter:
FASTPASSES + A PARTY OF TWO ARE THE KEYS TO QUICKLY GETTING ON TOY STORY MANIA. #disneytip

Unfortunately, I only got 149,000 on that round, which I was not too thrilled about. Oh well, better luck next time!

TOY STORY MANIA RIDE COUNT: 4

Our next stop was the Osborne Spectacle of Lights! I know you guys all loved seeing pictures of it on the previous night, but I have LOTS more coming your way right about now!

dsc0648f.jpg

This was Mom's first time seeing it since she was in the car the night before. She was also in complete AWE of the whole thing. She said "the hairs on my arms stood up." Haha sounds pretty accurate to me!

dsc0650s.jpg

dsc0651w.jpg

Two songs I specifically remember playing that night were Feliz Navidad and Blue Christmas. The lights all danced to them and it was incredibly magical!

dsc0653eh.jpg

MELT MY HEART, IT'S MICKEY AND SANTA.

dsc0654m.jpg

This thing is magnificent. You're gonna want to see it in person. Pictures cannot accurately capture the size of it.

dsc0655ec.jpg

dsc0659ev.jpg

Christmas Carolers!

dsc0656xk.jpg

ALL OF THE DEER! IT'S KRISTEN AND MY FAMILY! (or if you want to use fancy Christmas terms.... IT'S OUR KIN!)

dsc0657bd.jpg

STREETS OF AMERICA! It amazes me how this area of Hollywood Studios is so quiet during normal times of the year and then BOOM it explodes into the Osborne Lights for the holidays. Unbelievable.

Mickey Snowman!

Sister and Brother picture! (Since when is he taller than me!?! WAHHH my little brother is growing up.)

Chapter 53: Christmas Lights on a Christmassy Night
December 23rd, 2011

LOOK! IT'S THE SINGIN' IN THE RAIN UMBRELLA! In the midst of all of these lights, you still can find these little classic Disney details. I love it.

dsc0664fn.jpg

"Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me..."

dsc0665w.jpg

Once again, pictures can not capture these glorious structures.

dsc0667r.jpg

Merry Christmas from the Fam. :-)

dsc0678gz.jpg

I love these guys!

dsc0677ud.jpg

I barely got a chance to look around the night before so I'm glad I got to see some more this time around.

dsc0668w.jpg

THE FLYING REINDEER!

dsc0669w.jpg

Even the imaginary subway station is filled with elves! Seriously, Disney, WHY ARE YOU SO PERFECT?

dsc0671v.jpg

There are SO MANY hidden mickeys! I wish I would remember the exact count, one of the cast members told me.

dsc0672d.jpg

The giant fireplace!

dsc0673l.jpg

Aww Dad and Mom were SO happy! The Osborne Lights were right up their alley. What a wonderful display of Christmas magic!

dsc0675i.jpg

dsc0676ky.jpg

In the midst of all this Christmas cheer, there was even a little place selling Christmas goodies in case you get hungry. I'm glad Disney is always thinking about the contentment of our stomachs. They're so smart.

dsc0679c.jpg

I'm guessing this is during the "dancing" lights portion since all of the little carolers are in white lights now.

dsc0681eu.jpg

COME ON IT'S LOVELY WEATHER FOR A SLEIGH RIDE TOGETHER WITH YOU!

dsc0682m.jpg

I can't express my love for this. There are no words that can measure up.

dsc0684q.jpg

Christmas Tip #25: This may be an obvious tip, but GO SEE THE OSBORNE SPECTACLE OF LIGHTS IN DISNEY'S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS. Once you see it, you will completely understand why. No explanation needed.

We grabbed a few more pictures:

dsc0687bd.jpg

dsc0688x.jpg

And I tweeted some frumpy thoughts that popped into my head:
I love seeing big old guys with white beards that look like Santa.

(This happened a lot more than you would expect!)

My other tweet:
Whenever I go to Disney I feel like I am the hostess and responsible for my group's happiness. #truelife

Thankfully, on this night everyone was completely happy! SUCCESS!

Then it was time to head out. We left three minutes before park closing. There was a lot of traffic getting out of Hollywood Studios, but before we knew it we were back in our cozy beds at Port Orleans! I journaled, watched Stacey, and fell fast asleep so easily. I was completely in the Christmas and Disney spirit. IT WAS SO WONDERFUL.
