"I Don't Wanna Meet Mickey In a Frumpin' Poncho!" An August 2011 TR! COMPLETE 11/30

Chapter 7- PanCHIto!

August 17th, 2011

Will we finally make it to El Centro?? Maybe, but it took lots more pictures to get there.

I loved the fact that the resort was completely surrounding water. It was so scenic and photogenic.

The Casitas!

And then I came across another of what I now know is a bird of paradise flower!

Isn't it so cool! It literally looks like an exotic bird!

We finally made it to El Centro:

Mom and Scott went inside to work out our situation for the 19th. We had to separate reservations because our DDP didn't start for two days, and they had told us that we would be moving to Ranchos. However, as cool as the Ranchos are, we really liked the feel and location of the Casitas, so we asked to be moved to a different room there, preferably with a lake view.

While they took care of that, Sarah and I explored more outside.

We absolutely loved the lights that were strung along the trees by the outdoor seating and the bar. It was so elegant and looked beautiful at night!

After a few minutes soaking it all in, it was shopping time! So Sarah and I headed to PanCHItos!

Now here's where I go off on a tangent. Can I just say how much I LOVE saying the name Panchito!? It's an awesome name! If I ever get a little Daschund or something, I'm totally naming him Panchito. It's just a fantastic name, so I was thrilled when the gift shop was named after him.

While we explored, I found some very fitting Mickey ears:

And then I found the Big Cheese himself:

Sarah bought an autograph pen and some Mickey earrings.

We met up with the parental units and had a mini photo-shoot by the beautiful fountain:

Then we headed to the El Centro bus stop and waited about 20 minutes for a bus to Downtown Disney!

We got to DTD at about 5:30 and went in search of some dinner!

Continued in Next Post

Once again, your pictures are AMAZING!!!!!

I love those ears!!! So cute!

I love DTD! I can't wait to hear what you ate for dinner! :goodvibes

I'm catching up, just like I promised! I was going to wait until I got to the end of the TR to leave a comment, but I just read your post from the 16th/17th and I had to leave two quick comments.

1) This right here:
We went to this place called Rita's
cracked me up by how nonchalantly you wrote it. It would make sense you don't have them up where you live, but it's such a big deal down this way. Every year on the first day of spring, they give away a free cup of their italian ice to everybody who comes to the stores/shacks. It tends to take over my FB feed when it happens, lol.

2) I LOVE THAT EPISODE OF FULL HOUSE. I can hear Michelle Tanner singing the No Fun No Fun Looking at the waa-aaalll song in my head right now. Man I loved that show. It makes me sad that kids today don't have anything as awesome as Full House, Family Matters or Boy Meets World to watch on Friday nights. They get Teen Mom and Jersey Shore. Ew.

Anyway, back to reading.

YAY PANCHITO'S! I love that place. And I love saying PANCHIIIITO'S!

That flower really is blowing my mind right now. The more I look at it the more I see a bird.

HAHA I posed with the exact same ears in the exact same spot when we stayed at CSR in December! I love it!

*Sidenote- You are so pretty! Seriously, go be a princess like...now. :)

DTD! Yay!! We are going to try WPE for the first time next month thanks to yours and Jess' reviews of the four cheese pizza. I can't wait! :cloud9:

AND YOU DON'T HAVE CHICK-FIL-A? I love their spicy chicken and their lemonade so much.

Coronado Springs was the first Disney resort I ever stayed in, on my honeymoon. It definitely converted me to only wanting to stay on Disney property in the future.

AHHH THE YETI

Beautiful pictures of the resort!! It would be so great to stay in EVERY resort on Disney property! (My life goal) :) lol. Can't wait for more updates!!

I stayed at Coronado Springs last July and we loved it there! The only problem was how long the walk was from El Centro. We stayed in Ranchos which is probably the farthest building form El Centro and at the end of the day when we got back from the parks and wanted to fill our mugs, we had to walk exactly 17 minutes each way :sad2: ...but other than that we LOVED that resort! I miss it!

The Bird of Paradise flower I must pick it and save it for my own viewing pleasure forever. The updates are fantastic thanks for covering the resort, great pictures as always.

Hahaha well that was probably a good idea, considering that this TR won't be over for a while!

LOL really?! I feel so out of the loop! Well, that's awesome! I kinda feel like I'm missing out! But you guys don't have Ted's, Anderson's or Tim Horton's...so I feel better.

Hahaha can you? I love that one too! I know, it's really sad. I'm scared to think about what will be out there when I have kids one day. There are still a couple good shows, but thank God they're available on DVD.

So do I! It's so much fun to say!

I know...and I'm really scared of birds, but I promise you, this one doesn't move. It just looks AWESOME.

Hahaha did you really!? That's kind of fantastic. Us frumps think alike!

Aww you are so sweet! Thanks. :) I would love to be a princess some day. Snow White or Belle would be perfect, but I'm not sure I qualify. Maybe, maybe not. It depends how forgiving the cast members are feeling the day I audition.

I seriously love Downtown Disney. It's just a first-night tradition for my family! And we LOVE WPE. It's seriously my favorite CS. That pizza just paints a whole picture for your senses. It's like something straight out of Ratatouile. Totally awesome.

No we don't! I LOVED their waffle fries! They were great!

Aww that's beautiful! When Jess and I were there we said to each other that CSR is definitely a very good resort for a honeymoon. It's so gorgeous and peaceful. Definitely an on-property converter as well.

HAHAHA. I  Stacey. You should make some frump GIFs of me and Jess!!!! :lmao:

Beautiful pictures of the resort!! It would be so great to stay in EVERY resort on Disney property! (My life goal) :) lol. Can't wait for more updates!!

Thank you so much! That's my goal as well! They're all so wonderful! :thumbsup2

That resort is soo gorgeous! I hope to stay there some day!

It really is! I hope you get the chance to! :)

Isn't it wonderful! I love that resort. That is a pretty long walk though. I don't believe ours was that long. We would just get off the bus at El Centro whenever we wanted to do something there and then walk back. It wasn't too bad. At least you walked off all that yummy Disney food though. That's what I always tell myself when I have to walk far in Disney.

The Bird of Paradise flower I must pick it and save it for my own viewing pleasure forever. The updates are fantastic thanks for covering the resort, great pictures as always.

Isn't it a great flower!? I love it! It's just so cool!

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed them! :goodvibes

Joining in. Love it all so far!

Coronado looks absolutely beautiful!!

Can't wait for more! :goodvibes

:welcome: Glad you're here, reading and commenting!

I'm so glad you liked them! :goodvibes

I love how the resort is surrounded by water, so pretty! I love the name Panchito too! Such a fantastic word to say haha. Hmm...dinner at DTD. Where will that be? My guess: T Rex!?

Me too! It's absolutely gorgeous!

It's just such a fun name to say!

You'll have to wait and see!

Ahh I love these updates!! It's so hard to choose where to stay next time cause I'm dying to stay at both POFQ and CSR.

A nap in a hammock... YES PLEASE. CSR is SO pretty. I love the color scheme so much. I would love to have a room in my house be that style.

That flower is SO AMAZING!! I love how you always find details like this in Disney. I mean, they could just have normal flowers and it would be pretty and that would be that, but no, they went the extra mile. I want one of them! I wonder if I could find one to buy at a greenhouse or something.

They're both amazing resorts! Given the choice, though, I would still say French Quarter. It's so quaint and peaceful. The theming there is spot-on and it's so easy to navigate. I love the fact that it's so small and the location is just perfect. You will absolutely love it if you stay there. Then again, CSR is amazing too! Either way, you're gonna love your life!

I know right!? It's like the most incredible thing ever! I know, they're amazing. Every little thing I swear...Disney never ceases to amaze me. They probably wouldn't survive in the darn North though. :/

Pan-CHI-tos. Panchiiiitos. PANCHIIIIIIITOS.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way (it's just so fun to say!), your pictures are soooooo pretty! Coronado Springs is a wonderful place.

Oh, and thanks to the bird of paradise pic, I'm gonna have the Tiki Room song stuck in my head all day.

The bird of paradise is an elegant bird, it likes to be seen and it loves to be heard...

Hi. :) Thanks to Lia for reminding me to comment on this!!!

I am just LOVING all of these CSR pictures! That place looks awesome. I don't think I realized how ridiculously large it was!

You just HAVE to say PanCHItos that way. Or else it sounds like pan cheetos. Who wants that?

THAT FLOWER IS EPIC. OH MY. Amazing! That seriously is the clone of a bird. Were you scared of it at all? ;)
