Fall 2012=Fast moving Friends, Food, Frights, Firsts and Fun with only Females!

I'm here!!!!

Now back to read. :goodvibes

I am so glad you are here, Kathy!!! :woohoo:

Ann, great intros, and I am so happy to see you are spending this all girls trip with Betsy and her clan. You GALS are going to have a blast. I can't wait to see how the plans progress.

I think it is going to be amazing. Not that going with the guys isn't... but I am certain it will be different in a very good way.

I think that's great that you're tackling the 10 miler! :thumbsup2 I need to get in shape as well so I have started the Couch 2 5K program. I'll be doing the 5K race that Saturday morning. My DH is running the 10 miler. My little boy & I will be cheering him on! :goodvibes

I have been following a couch to 5 k too. I just have 9 more runs till I am through it. With 3 a week... that is just 3 weeks!! I am amazed at how this slowly progressing programs really really work! I seems like I was not even able to run a minute not long ago. I think tomorrows run has me going for 10 minutes straight. (yep just checked) My run will be 5 minute warm up... 10 minute run, 5 minute walk, 10 minute run and then a 5 minute cool down. I really hope to go 3 miles. I have been a bit under the weather lately...and saturdays run was super slow. I did the same number of segments, but it was 8 minutes instead of 10. I only did about 2 and a half miles.

do you plan to do the villains bash? And... there is time to train via the galloway method for the 10 miler. (It started on 5/29) I know that it filled up... but I wonder if there is a waiting list? If not... you will certainly be set for the 5k!
Great start so far! I love trips with other families! They can be a bit stressful, but I like having the ability to hang out with someone you don't normally get to see. It makes for a fun trip!

I think that is going to be one of the biggest benefits. I be there will always be someone in the group to hang out with. :goodvibes
I think the POFQ is perfect since there are two groups of you. My friend Nicki loves POFQ and will be staying there in October when they go again.

Plans are developing nicely.

I really wanted to stay there over Christmas. I am really glad I stayed at WL, but I am super excited to try POFQ.

Okay...thanks Ann and Betsy...this PTR has my head alreay spinning back and forth between the two of you! :lmao: But then again I am blonde (okay dishwater with lots of grey) but give me a break!

I love the intro's and pictures from both of you!

I know, I know... Just imagine what a PTR for the following year will look like :rotfl2:

I'm here!!! Your girls trip sounds like it's going to be so much fun!! Can't wait to hear more about your plans!! :goodvibes

I am so glad you are here!!! :yay:
Oh wow another PTR :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: SO exciting, 2 PTR's in 1!

Yup, one will only be a short one... and then this one will be for the large group "big" trip.

I'm in! I'm in! That's a lot of ladies! And 3 little princesses who will be so spoiled by all the quality female time!

Haha I pinned Tammie's post before I saw yours Ann! Was thinking the exact same thing!!!! We might have to make a separate account to post the actual posts and then let our ramblings so under each of our names throughout the PTR!

I am sure we will figure it out... possibly making all our reader suffer along as we do... but we will make it work.

I have to say that I've been surprised that I've been able to stick with the C25K program so far. I have never been one to run....not even when I was young & in shape. :rotfl: I've had a little set back in my training though. I was doing really well & then we moved at the beginning of April. Well, May 30th I tried to pick up where I had left off & it was just horrible. I had not done it in a month! So, I did it again last night but I'm starting over with week 3. Hopefully, I won't have any more set backs. That's so great that you're close to finishing the program! :thumbsup2 Some nights, I still doubt whether or not I can do this. But, I'm not giving up yet!

I'm definitely doing the Villains Bash! Can't wait! I so hope I can get a good enough spot to take pictures of my DH crossing the finish line. There is a waiting list. But, even if trained hard enough to do the 10 miler, I really couldn't. We have a 4 year old little boy, so I'll be with him at the bash. But, I'm still excited to do the 5K. :goodvibes

Set backs suck... fairly early on... I fell and broke my hand. I was very nervous to go back out after that... but did.. It was just those first couple times that had me wondering/worrying if it would happen again. I am like you though... I never liked to run even when I was in shape. And you are three weeks in? I am just at 6 weeks now...so you are not that far behind me. It goes quick. You go from barely doing any running to barely doing any walking. UG... today about did me in. I have had some sort of tummy bug for more than a few days. (think lower tummy...sorry.. I know tmi ) I am trying to stay hydrated... but ug. I looked at week 6 day two (which I will do on thursday) and it has me only walking 3 minutes during the run. (except warm up and cool down) It is not more running than I did today. (2 - ten minute segments) but... I think only having that 3 minutes to recover between may kill me. I think having someone (for you your dh and for me Betsy) to hold you accountable to NOT give up helps.

I hope you get a good spot to get a picture of your dh come across the line! I would be in a similar boat as you if I didn't have other people on the trip that will not be running.... I don't think they are even going to do the villains bash.

Now that I think about it... that means that Betsy and I wont' have anyone cheering us on at the finish. Well, unless someone from her group goes.

Oh, you poor thing! Breaking your hand had to be a hard set back. :sad2: I'm glad to hear you recovered! :thumbsup2

And now a tummy bug? Those really are the worst! I hope it goes away soon.

I really should be on my last day of week 4 tomorrow. But, our move just really took away anytime to run. I tried to start back up with week 4 but I thought I was going to die! :lmao: I was so discouraged! My DH is the one that suggested that I go back to week 3 & start from there. And you're so right - it really helps having someone to hold you accountable & not let you get discouraged & give up. That's my biggest problem!

Well, since my little boy & I are definitely going to the Bash (we already have our tickets :woohoo: ), I can cheer y'all on! :cheer2:

See, so you are just barely behind me. What program are you using? I need to follow the galloway method more closely, but I figure since I am doing more than it requires at this point I am fine..and since I will be done with the 5k runner app soon... well, I will just make sure I continue on track with it.

I will keep an eye out for you at the Bash. I am sure you will be no longer at the line when we get through. I am pretty darn slow... and dont' expect to be much faster come September.

I'm just using C25K. I figured once I'm done with it, I'll have about 10 weeks or so to just work on my time. My DH thought about using the Galloway program to train for the 10 miler. But, he ended up deciding on another training program. The name escapes me right now but I'll let you know what it is after I ask him.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for you! You never know - you may be a lot faster by the time the 10 miler gets here. But, no matter how long it takes you to finish, at least you're doing it! :thumbsup2 One of my favorite sayings: "No matter how slow you are, you're still lapping everyone on the couch."

What a day yesterday

For any of you who read my DLR PTR, you know that things went kinda crazy yesterday.

It started off with plans for this trip though. I do not think I mentioned yet that Zoe and I have our air fare down to FL. Kira and Amanda do not. (Betsy's crew does)

I honestly didn't think airfare was going to give me this much trouble for either trip... but... (and here is where I am sure a few of you will laugh) me and airfare just tend to have a love/hate relationshsip.

I am trying not to let this get to me and be moody about it. (although, I am feeling oddly moody about it) Basically, Kira wants to fly a red eye the day before check in. This would mean that she and Amanda would arrive early in the morning and possibly make rope drop. She and Amanda would be the ones to check in and receive our packet. I realize that the room wouldn't be ready right away, but Zoe and I do not get in until 5pm. I am not sure how it would work to have us wait for them that evening. I mean.. we can have her leave our KTTW cards at the desk so we can get into our room, right? This would mean a full day's worth of meals for Kira and Amanda....and since they do not want to pay oop, I am sure they would be using dp credits. This will shift how many dp credits they have available. This then means a shift for the entire trip. I will have to rethink much of the trip since Zoe and I will have our last day's meals and a park ticket day when they won't.

I am already having to consider on my other PTR how much of the lost expense I should make my son account for and feeling like a mean mom. I am not being mean to not let them use up credits and then pay oop for Zoe and I later in the trip, right? Again... oddly moody about this.

I am sure it will all work out. In many ways, it is better to have her figure out her own flight stuff...make her own dinning plans and park touring plans. I just didn't realize that "our" group was more like two little groups in one room. Course, I think that is kinda the case with Betsy's crew too. And this is why there should always be some of us together while some are off doing other things.

dang! I am moody today. :rotfl2: I need to go for my run, but it has been pouring rain. It is cold here today too...so coming home soaked wont be fun. but maybe it will help my mood. ;)

Yes, they can leave yours and Zoe's KTTW to be picked up by you later. I'm sorry things aren't working out as you had hoped. You shouldn't have to pay oop, since they are grown and using the additional credits, it should be their responsibility for the oop expense. Unless, of course, you are feeling particularly gracious at the time and help them out.

We did this last year; Andy didn't arrive until a few days after us, and he just picked up his KTTW card when he arrived after giving our name.

After going for a run I feel a little less moooody. :rotfl:

I think chatting with one of my ocd planner friends helped too. Apparently planning for a year for one trip, then planning for another one, and then suddenly another...with yet another 2 on the horizon is a lot of stress. :rotfl:

So I talked with Kira and of course it will all be fine. I understand her perspective. They will sleep better on the plane than they will the night before we fly out. Truth be told, if it works out well (meaning they sleep on the plane)... it is actually a better option. Even if Zoe and I stay at a near by hotel, we will still need to be up by about 3am. Round the time they are flying out...we will need to be going to sleep in order to get up that early. Course, we always do sleep a tad on the plane to make up for the early wake time. I will have to trust that she will check us in fine and that she won't let them put us in a room that I wouldn't be happy with. (doesn't that sound :snooty:  Honestly, there has only been once that I out and out asked if they had a different room that was closer to the main building. In December, Betsy and I asked to have our rooms in the same building when we checked in... but I think that was just us asking to be placed near each other not moved near each other.)

She and Amanda will likely then fly home earlier than we will since Zoe and I will have that last park ticket that I will want to use (even if just to go say good bye to MK :sad2:) This will either mean the morning of 10/4 they will catch DME and then Zoe and I will fly out that afternoon or Zoe and i will check in for a room only somewhere and catch DME first thing the next morning. This depends on the cost of the early evening flight on SW. Right now... it is about $100 higher than the earlier flight. That $200 pays for an extra night. Course... If I had just kept the extra night that I added and then took off, that was $220 more and it included 4 more ts, 4 more cs and 4 more snack credits. However I was thinking that afternoon flight would come down...and the $220 would be "extra"

So it will work. I just need to plan a little differenly

Let me know what he is using. I know Betsy is using RunKeeper and has input the galloway program into it.

He said he's using Hal Higdon's intermediate training plan. He said you can go to halhigdon.com to check it out.

I'm sure all of the flights, meals & tickets will work out. :thumbsup2 It is stressful when you're doing all this planning & then something's thrown at you that you weren't expecting.

Oh my goodness Ann, you are having quite a time! I am sure though that everything will eventually work out. Your not a mean mom, just a very disappointed and frustrated mom. You just wanted a vacation with all your kids, totally understandable. Nothing wrong with that! (I'm kinda replying to both threads at the same time).

As for Kira checking in early, totally get why your apprehensive! I like to be in control of my tickets and where the hotel room will be too! But I am pretty OCD with stuff like that :rotfl:

So frustrating! I don't think you are a mean mom for not letting her use DP credits. It would be her decision to fly down early, so she needs to pay for the extra expenses associated with that, IMHO.

I totally get what you mean about two groups. When I went to DLR with my extended family in October 2010, we ended up in two smaller groups, which wasn't expected. However, it was their choice not to follow my plans! They then got really butt hurt when they didn't get to ride things that we did and when they had longer waits in line. GRR. We had fun with our group, though! ;)

:rotfl2: Oh yes... being OCD is what causes my stress in this. Course... I shouldnt worry. Kira is way more OCD than I am... so I am sure whatever she plans will work perfectly. It just isnt MY plan.

She is being reasonable about the dp credits/oop cost. She agrees that OOP will be the way to go for that first day. The last day... now that is a bit more of a debate. Best I can tell... she wants me to forgo my plans since she will not be able to go into a park.. but we will work it out.

and...just fyi... I about died from the "butt hurt" comment. :lmao::lmao: I imagine it was a frustrating situation (kinda had that on my december trip... ended up redoing many an activity cause those who didn't want to get up and follow my plan still wanted to be able to do certain things)
