DISmoms 4 - The Hunt for Jack Sparrow

and what is up with everyone in line having their suitcases????? Isn't the whole idea behind DME that you check your luggage and don't worry about it again until it arrives at your resort?

And I was the ONLY one who tipped the poor guy when I got off at my stop, which was the FIRST stop on the ride to WDW! Why don't people tip? He was a GREAT driver, actually more of a tour guide than a shuttle driver.

I find that when I brief friends or co-workers on DME and luggage it's like I'm explaining the mysteries of the universe. So I think a lot of people just don't get it.

Good for you for tipping. If I were on your bus it would be two of us tipping at least.

Before we went back to our car, we walked around Kidani a little bit. I will admit, I needed a little AKV fix to get me through to our stay there in November (In a Jambo GV. Did I mention we're staying in a Jambo GV?? We are! I'm SOOOO excited about it! :yay:).

My sister and her family stayed in a GV there last year. The pictures alone are amazing!!! They absolutely loved it!!! You'll have a great time!

And I do love my wine! I need to branch out more and try different kinds. I stick to my beloved whites. I've only ever tried a sweet RED wine. What do you recommend?

I used to manage The Melting Pot restaurant, and if you've ever been you know that wine is a big part of any fondue restaurant. So we studied wine a LOT. The best red for a "beginner" is a beaujolais - Louis Jadot makes a nice one. It's a light red......

Just make sure to use the right glass with the right wine:thumbsup2

We are having a wine party tonight at my house...all you ladies are invited. just jump on a plane and get here before 6. I will take you to Disney SEA tomorrow.

Thanks Kara! I'll have to get that one a try. :thumbsup2

Geez, I just saw this.... otherwise I'd have been there!!!! :rotfl2:

When we got this pic- we all said, "OMG!!! Kara's gone anorexic!!!!:rotfl:

Isn't the ditch in Italian "il ditchio"? :confused3 :rotfl:

This report is off to a great start! You ladies look like a lot of fun.

Jill in CO

Si- Il Ditchio Senora....

Fun updates.
how is the pullout bed at BCV? is that a queen size? My parents are now staying with me in Nov for 3 nights there, and I told them they have the pull out. I hope it's comfy, or I will hear all about it. LOL

We asked Loni & Pam about the pullout, and they both thought it was great! Just call for an extra blankie to go with it for your parents-

Love the pictures of the tequila bar and the new wine bar. Can't wait to go there. I guess you are right you have taught me something.

THANK GOODNESS!!! :yay: :rotfl:

Okay, so I need to make a visit to the Ditch AND to the Wine Cellar! :thumbsup2

Yay for another DISmoms trip! Yall are hilarious :)

Yea- we do know how to have a good time, that's for sure!:woohoo:

First, that is one ridiculously huge balcony! Is that a corner room?

Second, I am the designated Soarin' runner. I leave my slow poke family in the dust, race to Soarin', grab fast passes for everyone and then when their slow selves FINALLY get there, we jump on the standby line. This way, we ride twice with no significant wait.

Third, Fourth and Fifth - Yum! Tequila!

Very smart to run ahead!!

Ok, now I didn't dance. But I did start singing the song as soon as I saw the word "hustle". Thankfully, my office door is closed.

You should have danced- dancing with Kara is ALWAYS a solid gold good time... :rolleyes1

This is my son in 2008. He tried desperately to kiss Snow White on the lips, but Snow, being loyal to the Prince and all, wasn't having it. She very politely deflected his amorous advances and gave him a nice kiss on the forehead. He's been in love with her ever since.

OHHHHHH!!! Sooooo sweet!

I can somehow remember the parade, but I had completely forgotten about it!
And we have stayed at AKL before, in a regular savannah room (actually sat out Hurricane Charlie in there ;)) and we would love to go back some day soon, but you know, OKW is having a strong grip on us. ;) :lmao:

Yes- I understand how it is getting hooked on certain resort...:)

LOVE all the DVC merchandise - I guess some shopping is in order for me. YES, I do wear that kind of thing!

Me too! Proudly, like a total DISgeek!!

Your Epcot day sounds FUN so far! Riding Soarin to start the day! :thumbsup2 and the Ditch and the Wine Bar! You girls ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait for more! popcorn::

Can't wait to hear details on the wine bar. We love some of the wines we've had in the small shop in Italy.

What did you do about bringing adult beverages onboard ship with you? On our next cruise, I think we will first 'cruise' around Epcot and buy some wines around World Showcase.

Well, we did NOT bring the 3 bottles of Guavaberry I brought from ST Martin for Kara-that stayed at the BW...somewhere.....:scared1:...... but you'll have to wait to see what we DID bring!

Also, Ellen I have to thank you for a previous trip report where you mentioned Sum of All Thrills. We wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for you. And yes, I hit the WIMP button first time out. Not anymore though!! Double loop for this momma!

Yea- I think we all hit the wimp button on the first ride- myself included. But don't tell Joanie!

Yes definitely! Sounds good. I'm thinking Earl of Sandwich for lunch???

ABSOLUTELY!!! Did you hear what happened yesterday at TMS? Check out the Patch-

RANDOM!

I KNOW!!! Totally random!

Oh my gosh, I just read!!! How awful!! Sounds like a disaster. I can only imagine how those teachers must have been feeling, let alone the kids. Yeah it's nice and all to make it up and go a later date but now that's an entire day of school that was missed for nothing!

MMM, Ritas and vino, and cupcakes! What a way to start a DIS mom trip off! The only thing i haven't seen so far is a pic of Ellen kissing a monkey?!? I also expected to see some dancing there with the parade in SAANA.

Kara - I was humming the song to myself! Can't give up all my secrets! Do the hustle! Da da da da...

So glad I found this report! I had contemplated crashing your little party, but alas I was cruising myself May 9-14, had a conference in Orlando May 14-17, and Mom came down for a visit May 24-29. There was no way this old body could handle anything else!

So cool Disney can make little Hidden Mickey's in the water with lemon and lime slices even!
a little refreshing water-

Ready to hear more about your crazy adventures!

I'm so in on this:), looks like a blast ladies!!:yay:

It's the mornin! And we are up EARLY (for us- in WDW- it is 7 or 7:30). We realize that if we shower up fast (which most of us can do) we can make rope drop- which also means we'll get to ride Soarin! We NEVER make rope drop on these trips, so Joanie & I are pretty excited. But when 8:55 comes around....well, not everyone is ready. But Joanie & I are....so we head out, and Lonnie & Pam say they'll catch up quick....

Well, we did NOT make rope drop, unfortunately...but close enough for getting on Soarin in 20 minutes. :thumbsup2 Actually, we were walking so fast, I only had time for one pic-

124.jpg

YAY!!! We're on line! But we really need coffee! But we want to ride Soarin more!!

125.jpg

It's truly amazing the absolute flood of people RUNNING to the Land in the morning for this ride. It ain't no kids game!

It's Puddy time!

126.jpg

Woohoo!!! I'm at the Golden Gate Bridge again!

128.jpg

I am really looking forward to riding Soarin in DL next summer- after we have just been to San Francisco and Yosemite, I think it will be even MORE special.

We picked up 2 FPs for Lonnie & Pam- and we called them. And texted them. And called again. And texted again. And did this about- 10 times. But we got no response. :confused3 Joan & I were in desperate need of some Java, so we jumped over to Sunshine Seasons-

134.jpg

135.jpg

And I dropped my danish, and my dear Joanie went and got me a new one- thanks, Mom.

136.jpg

137.jpg

But still...no text. No call. Where's Lonnie?

The reason we're concerned? Joanie and I were going to shoot over to MK for a quick visit- to see the new stuff during the day, AND to try that new spicy chicken waffle at Sleepy Hollow (because that sounded sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yummy for lunch!).

But we have FPs for Lonnie & Pam. That need to be used, and soon. Because at WDW, they are now enforcing FP times. :headache:

Still no return on my calls.

We have been in EPCOT about an hour.

So with no reply, we ended up handing them off. :headache:

And we left EPCOT.

And as we walked up the ramp to the monorail, we saw the HOARDS of people coming into the park.

And we turned around.

And went back in.:rolleyes1

And kicked ourselves, because we could have gone on Soarin a second time if we had not handed off our FPs! DOH!

But....we made someone else VERY happy- AND...it was Flower & Garden, so all was good!

139.jpg

We decided to go to Innoventions and ride Sum of All Thrills instead...

But we messed up, and went in the wrong one first.

140.jpg

Eventually, we found it!

141.jpg

We went to design our ride, and Joanie did the UNTHINKABLE- she hit the WIMP button! See, the thing about SOAT is that it is REALLY fun if you design a daring ride...kind of lame when you don't. But we'll cut her some slack- it was her first ride, after all, and she wasn't sure what to expect.

142.jpg

I think it was right around when we got off SOAT that we FINALLY got a text from Lonnie- they were in Sunshine seasons! In the park! Where were we?

Umm...on our way to WS...because it's nearly 11 am.

VERY VERY glad we didn't wait for them at BCV!

We all decided to meet up in Norway to ride it like a Viking before going to our main destination- MEXICO!! For Drinko de Mayo!!! :earboy2:

Coming up....the rest of the day! And hopefully posts from a DISmom that is not me!

Hi, I'm new here. I've been enjoying reading this TR. I found it after reading Kara's two TR's. (Had fun reading those Kara!)
Sorry but I'm having trouble keeping track of who is who.....so many blondes!
Am I posting to Ellen's post and photos above? I went back to page 2 or 3 and looked at the group photo to try and memorize who is who. Maybe when one of you posts another group photo in the future you could say who's who again?

Just wanted to comment on 3 things:
I'm always amazed at the longer wait times for Soarin in WDW, compared to DCA. I hope you get nice short lines, even for FP while in CA. Have a great time in SF and at Yosemite too!

I have yet to make a rope drop!! It is a dream and goal to make it someday.
I think it will have to be a trip without my kids.....and maybe without my husband too. Teenagers are very hard to wake up!!

And one more thing. I'm guessing you probably know this as you've been to WDW many more times than I. With regards to your dropped danish:sad2:
Did you know that if you drop your food or drink, WDW will replace it for free? No questions asked, and don't wait in line again. Just go to a Pick-UP window and tell them you dropped, or spilled, your food, and they will replace it with a smile.

Can't wait to see what happens next!
