Just saw Snow White and couldn't help but noticed it was put out by Universal!! I'm confused!! How can this be??

Yep. Maybe Disney will change their minds and go ahead with the Order of Seven movie that they recently stopped production on! But I guess after John Carter they can't risk losing money on another box office flop.

The Disney copyright on Snow White pertains only to the details they added to the story. If that stuff popped up in the Universal movie, then they'd have a right to sue.

Yup. Most everyone associates Snow White with Disney but it's one of the tales by the brothers Grimm.

In fact, it's not the only of the early stories done this way. Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty are both Grimm fairy tales (and probably more but those are the ones I know off the top of my head).

We saw the movie last night -I wasn't thrilled with it, but it was ok. It seemed like it was missing something to me, although fantasy-type films aren't usually my thing so maybe that was it. My wife thought it was good and liked the special effects.

It reminds me of the scenario with Willy Wonka. I think most everyone would agree that, to us, the TRUE story is the one starring Gene Wilder from 1971. When the Johnny Depp version came out, a lot of people were surprised at how dark it was; some even denounced the film. Believe it or not, Roald Dahl's original storyline was followed more so in the Depp version than in the classic. Still, most prefer the older film. This is similar to a lot of the Brothers Grimm's fairytales.

When the Johnny Depp version came out, a lot of people were surprised at how dark it was; some even denounced the film. Believe it or not, Roald Dahl's original storyline was followed more so in the Depp version than in the classic. Still, most prefer the older film. This is similar to a lot of the Brothers Grimm's fairytales.

The funniest thing I remember along those lines is when I went to the Ballet to see Beauty and the Beast. During the intermission, I heard people complaining that it wasn't accurate. Where was Mrs. Potts? Where was Lumiere? And what was with that Magic Peacock thing? They totally had no clue that the fairy tale has been around for centuries, and the ballet was written eons before Disney did a movie.

I just saw the movie and it was ok, I was happy that they didn't over do the love triangle and the special effects were great! But still Disney's version will always have a special place in my heart!

I loved the original Roald Dahl book, so I preferred the Depp version. But the book still trumps the movie. =)
