HELP!!!!!! More Disney Dreams to fulfill! 09/04 Exciting news!

Love those Dooneys! Is Paris the only place that style is sold?

I would love to go to Europe, but I don't know about flying over there.:rolleyes1

I think it was our third time riding BTMRR before we figured out that we were going underwater to get to the mountain! Slow learners I guess!

Flying overseas isn't too bad Wicket's mom! We flew over night and if you can sleep at all on the plane, it's fine. Goes by really quickly. Plus you can watch current or recent movies on the seat backs and everyone picks their own. I watched three or four on the way home (that was a day flight).

I wished we got to be there for the 20th celebration, but we were a few weeks too early. Oh well, at least I have your great pictures!

Easy to fall behind, Ann!
And I blame it on the phenomenon that we call "real life". ;)

We really were VERY well fed on these two flights, but please keep in mind that we were flying business class. ;)
But even on regular flights we at least get a sandwich or another little snack. :thumbsup2

I did realize that you were business class... I am still impressed:goodvibes

I really loved that little store and I still hope they will reopen and not close for good. :goodvibes

Ann, we did not stay on property. While at DLRP we rarely stay onsite. That villa was a lot cheaper than staying in the cheapest one of Disney's hotels. ;) And we love the convenience of having a kitchen and a fridge. :goodvibes

I wonder if that is the case with most Disney properties (except WDW) We have never stayed in a Disney hotel in CA... so much more expensive!

We were there for DLR's 50th anniversary too!

cadl06.jpg

I loved to hunt down all the 50 signs! :woohoo:

The weather didn't really cooperate and show us many blue skies, but at least it didn't rain! :thumbsup2

BTMRR sits on an island and you go underground/under water to get there - it is so much fun and it is the longest of the Thunder rides. An absolute favourite of ours.
And doesn't Phantom Manor look like the Psycho house? From one side you CAN see someone in a rocking chair - it is really creapy!

The new castle show is absolutely fantastic! They said it was only there for this summer, but I really hope they are going to keep it, as it is awesome! :thumbsup2

I hope they keep the show for you!

BTMRR and Phantom Manor definitely increase my interest in DLRP. Underground/underwater? That sounds so cool.... and the manor.. that is creepy!!!

They sell a very similar Retro style Dooney in Disneyland, but this special design is only to be found in DLRP! :thumbsup2

Flying to Europe isn't all that bad - get some decent sleeping aid, get on board, have dinner/lunch, take the sleeping aid and wake up on a new continent! :lmao:

BTMRR really picks up speed going underwater, doesn't it? I really love the ride! :goodvibes
They did very well with all the decorations for the 20th anniversary and with the update to the parade and evening show - but then ..... it was about time - they had used the "old floats" for a very long time (and are still using them) ;)

I hope they keep the show for you!

I cannot see why they shouldn't keep the show. They have made so many changes to the whole hub and the castle, so I guess it is here to stay! ;)

DLRP is a great place to be and with two parks it is even more worth it to come here! :goodvibes

NEWSFLASH!!!!!!!

I finally :rotfl2: was able to book our airfare for February 2013!!!! :dance3: :woohoo: :dance3:

In a nutshell ....... when I first checked the airfare for our February trip it was at an absolutely wonderful low price (1500 Euros for the two of us (1800$) ). So I asked Tom to put in his vacation request. It took about 3 weeks until he finally did and the offer was gone. It had gone up around 500 Euros and I decided to wait for a while. I promised myself that if it fell under 1800 Euros I would buy.

Well, that day was yesterday!!! We are now flying to Orlando on February 16, leaving here at 6.45am and arriving in Orlando at 6.40pm. Don't know where we will stay the first night, but then we will sail again on the DREAM for 4 nights and back to WDW for another 2 nights (DVC stay - so whatever we will be able to get at 7 months out). :woohoo:

Day 2, April 29

Crowds, Disney Village and a trip to the countryside! - Part 3

We strolled over towards Disneyland park and with little wait at the bag check we got to the entrance pretty fast.

DSC_0322.jpg

We thought about riding the train first, but the line was down the stairs and therefore too long for us.
There was not much we could have done, so we decided to stake out a nice spot to watch the parade from.
We usually watch parades on the Main Square,

DSC_0324.jpg

at the spot where they go backstage, but this time we wandered deeper into the park

DSC_0325.jpg

DSC_0326.jpg

DSC_0327.jpg

and towards the Pizzeria Bella Notte, which is very close to where the parade starts. We found a nice spot, claimed our space and waited. It was a long wait but it was nice being in the sun and watch people walking by. And finally the parade started.
The new music is really catchy and they mixed old and new floats to create this new anniversary parade. It was fun to see all the dancers and characters going by and we both took lots of photos. They even added some characters who "float" by on Segways (which you cannot see under their costumes, but you can see how they steer them. ;))

Once the parade was over, most people followed it down to the hub

IMG_4106.jpg

and Main Street, but we headed in the opposite direction.

IMG_4109.jpg

When we walked past “It’s a small world” we debated getting in line, but once we saw the 20 minute wait we decided to give it a miss.
We walked over to the little village and saw that the Storybook Land ride and Casey Junior were up and running. There didn’t even appear to be many people in line, so we headed that way. Now the Storybook Land boat ride was a walk on.

IMG_4110.jpg

It is just a little ride, but the stories are set up nicely and since it is not always open, we love to ride it.

Once we were at the end of the ride we got off and just walked over to Casey Junior.

IMG_4124.jpg

The sign at the entrance said 20 minutes but the line didn’t look all that long, so we hopped in. It turned out to be a 20 minute wait, as the ride loads slowly and there was only 1 train running. Finally it was our turn and we really loved the interaction with the Cast Member who handled the line. He chatted with every group and since he was much fun, he was awarded a little chocolate thank you! He was stunned and felt pretty good to sprinkle a little pixie dust in his direction. Our seats were towards the middle of the train and we squeezed in and had lots of fun riding. Even though this is a kiddie ride, it is really going “fast” and the music is fun.

That parade looks so wondeful. Sopme really neat floats...how do the segway people stear? is it under their costuem and they just touch that area every so often?

I would love to see soemthing like this at WDW.

I love all the pictures of DLRP! There is a lot of attention to detail.

It is a neat parade!
The segways are under the costumes (the ones that go right down to the ground) and you could see that they leaned a bit to the side, to steer it. It looks like they were floating ..... loved the fairies at the beginning as they did a really good job!

I am glad you do, Teresa!
It's the attention to detail that makes me love Disney so much. And they do a really good job in Paris too. :goodvibes

Sorry, I've been looking, not posting! It made me a little sad to see that you've booked your February airfare. Don't get me wrong, I'm so happy for you...but its a bit bittersweet as I know there is absolutely no way that trip is happening for us this year. :lmao: Sigh...

Love the DLRP parade pics. So cool. Its also funny to see how everyone was wearing long sleeves as part of the costumes. Quite a change from Florida, where I wonder how some of them survive in there!

The parade looks so nice...wonderful floats. Wow..characters on segways, that must take a lot of practice and coordination. Rachel & Scott would love to ride BTMRR there. Congratulations on your Feburary 2013 airfare! :)

Yes, it was bittersweet to book the airfare, knowing that we won't see you this time. :sad2:
You are right about the long sleeves, you should see their costumes in the winter. :rotfl2:

They are quite good at "updating" their old floats. Some have been around for a VERY long time, but they are still nice.
I was so impressed with the Segway characters. You really had to look hard to see how they leaned to the side to steer them.
BTMRR is SO much fun at DLRP! Unfortunately the lines are always looooooooooooong!!!!! :rotfl2:

Day 2, April 29

Crowds, Disney Village and a trip to the countryside! - Part 7

Once we got off we slowly strolled over towards Peter Pan’s flight, but walked by as the standby line was an hour long.
Next to check out was Pirates of the Caribbean,

IMG_4134.jpg

which only had a 10 minute wait, so we got in line.

IMG_4135.jpg

Most of the line moved pretty quickly and it only slowed down towards the loading area. We were quickly seated and went off for our adventure. I would really appreciate it, if they updated the ride and put Captain Jack in as well. But never the less it is a fun ride, and once we got off we checked out the gift shop and stopped at the Blue Lagoon restaurant to check the menu. We actually thought about getting a table there for our last day, but there was just too long of a line to the podium.
There was still time left until the evening show, so we walked

towards Adventureland

IMG_4138.jpg

IMG_4139.jpg

and explored the shops and the area. We quickly walked over to the Indiana Jones ride, but again it was down, so we took the shortcut through the outside seating of Colonel Hathi’s restaurant and over to Big Thunder Mountain.

IMG_4143.jpg

DSC_0502.jpg

The Fastpass line was long and there was a 100 minute wait in the standby line, so we walked right by. We could see the Molly Brown in the distance

DSC_0503.jpg

and headed over that way. They had just closed boarding and the next departure was 20 minutes later, so we took some photos and since there were not many people in line for Phantom Manor we walked over

IMG_4148.jpg

and got in line. Again, it was only a short wait and we knowing where to stand in the stretching room gave us a head start towards the carriages again. We were quickly seated and off to travel through the Manor.

On the way back to the hub we walked through the little store where I had not been allowed to touch the Dooneys and when I saw that Cast Member I really wanted to stop and let him know that he had missed the opportunity to sell two of these bags in a flash, but I behaved and just laughed on the inside.
It was then time to stake out another spot to watch Disney Dreams again. All the spot along the fences were already taken, so we went towards the middle of the hub, carefully watching who was in front of us. People in Europe tend to put their kids on their shoulders once the show begins and if you are behind them, then bad luck for you, as all you are going to see the back of the person plus kid on top. Needless to say the people in front of us did exactly that and we had to squeeze to the side to be able to see the show. Again the show was terrific and this time we really enjoyed watching it, without a camera in hand. But even though we loved the show, our feet hurt a lot. Having to stand in one place for 45 minutes takes its toll. Once the show was over we decided that instead of staying for the second run of the show we would just head back to our room and get to bed earlier. So we joined the masses that slowly pushed towards the exit, then finally we were able to move at a faster pace and headed over to the parking garage. We paid for parking and drove back to our home at the Citea. We both had a drink and a few nibbles, Chips and beer for Tom and

IMG_4156.jpg

an Éclair and some Diet Coke for me before we called it a day and went to bed.

Day 3, April 30

Early to rise, and early to bed ……. LOL - Part 1

The alarm went off at 6am and we quickly discarded the idea of getting up in favour of another 30 minutes of sleep. At 6.30 we finally got up, took showers and fixed a quick breakfast. At 7.45 we were out the door and heading over to Disneyland Park for Extra Magic Hours.
We arrived at the park at 8.15 and there were already long lines for bag check and people were going inside the park for breakfast and Extra Magic Hours. Inside the park there were still fairly few people

DSC_0515.jpg

and we enjoyed an empty Main Square

First we checked out the new installments around the castle that were put in place for the DREAMS show.
