2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival *HAS ENDED*

I hope it's okay to ask this here. Can you pay for food with gift cards? Or do you need to have cash? TIA and sorry if this is not the place to ask this!

You can definitely pay with gift cards (or cash, credit, or Key to the World). In fact, the Food & Wine Festival sells special gift cards on wristlets for easy access.

this is my first time at the F&W! really excited as love trying new foods.

We are on the ddp and will have 14 snacks each - do you think we will need more $$ for this? We plan to visit on 3 or 4 evenings

I would plan to bring more money solely because the drinks won't be covered. The number of food items you can buy with your snack credits will probably be fine for three or four meals.

That's interesting. The French Regional Lunches have been one of our favorite events for the past couple years. Seems like they're making the best use of space having them at Bistro de Paris upstairs since the restaurant isn't open for lunch. Wonder how they would accommodate downstairs in the extremely noisy Chefs de France. Hoping this one's a rumor and not a reality :scratchin

Bistro de Paris is closed beginning July 1, or thereabout, for renovations. They do not believe they will be finished by Oct 1. Chefs de France, while not a desirable venue, is the most logical for the French Regional Lunches.

Looking forward to the 2012 Food and Wine Festival.

Will be at disneyworld this year from a monday to a friday so I am interested in more of the during the week special events.

Does anyone know if you can use a gift card from one year to the next? We put too much money on last years and wonder if we can use the balance this year. Thanks in advance for any help. :drinking:

Absolutely! ::yes:: Think of it as a themed-Disney gift card. No expiration. :thumbsup2

This year will be my first Food and Wine Festival.

Can't wait for all the details! Trip is from Nov 5-Nov 12popcorn::

We are doing things a little differently this time. We've decided that since we spend the majority of our time at Epcot we're going to stay at an Epcot resort. I only made one ADR, and we're going to focus on the booths the remainder of the time.
Any early info on PFTS yet?

Ah, okay. Well, that at least makes sense. Thanks!

can't wait to go! This will be our 3rd trip to F&W and our first use of our brand new DVC membership!! Couldn't be more excited!

So in order to book the best "extra events" what is the trick? Stalk the F&W website at a specific time and try to book that way? Or is over the phone better? Are there extra discounts for DVC?

In the past two years the only events that could be booked online were the wine seminars and food demos (aka deminars). Everything else had to be booked via phone. The best course of action is to have multiple people calling at exactly 7 am on the day the bookings open up.

Regarding discounts, in the past there have been discounts for DVC\TIW\AP for the deminars only. Last year I believe the discounted tickets were only for the weekday deminars. We'll have to wait and see what this year brings.

PFTS is usually held on most Saturdays. Though in the past couple of years they seem to have been not having it on the first Saturday of the Festival.

And last year they took one of them away for a kid-friendly healthy demo.

I'm waiting not so patiently for info on the culinary demonstrations. For several years, I've been "on strike"-refusing to attend the culinary demos since they started charging for them. I can still remember when they were free-the last year was 2008, I think. One day it rained, and I spent the entire afternoon just going from free culinary demo and then getting in line for the next one! It was so much fun-and free! But now I'm a Food Network addict, so I've decided I really want to go, even if I have to pay. So I'm waiting:rolleyes1

that was apparenty attended by only one kid. However, it did sell out, and got good reviews from those who went. We'll see if they repeat, and if it means there will again be a weekend without a PFTS.

We have news now that there will be no PFTS on September 29 or November 10 (first and last Festival weekends - look for events related to the Wine and Dine Half Marathon on the last weekend - no idea what will happen on the first weekend although I understand the First Bites event will be discontinued this year.)
