BLT Confusion About Theme Park View

We are quickly approaching our stay at BLT. I had booked the Theme Park view One Bedroom as a one-time splurge on points.

Today I called Membership Services to check on a few things and was told that the Theme Park view does NOT guarantee an actual view of the castle or fireworks. I guess I have been misunderstanding what the Theme Park view is. I know there has been some complaints in the past about the lower floors being more a view of the parking lot and I am aware of that problem but I am not aware that the Theme Park view may have NO view of the castle at all. I am fine with the castle being off center but no view of it at all bothers me since it is so many more points for that view. I could have saved all those points and went with Lake View and put in a request for the room numbers (I can’t remember if it odd or even numbers?) with a view of the castle and take our chances.

She did put in a request for me for a view of the castle. I just want to be prepared before we go that I may not even be able to see the castle and what to expect. So either you are so far over that the Contemporary blocks the actual castle? Or you are so far over the other way that you are around the curve of the building that you only see Space Mountain?

What are others finding with the Theme Park view?

If you actually have a view of the parking lot and cant see the Castle I would be ticked and complain, if they cant get you a room with the "view of the park" then they might work something out with you. You are right about the points, you are paying a lot extra to see the park view not parking lot view.

Actually my complaint is about not being able to see the castle at all. I was aware of the parking lot issue and that you may be so low that you just see the top of the castle but to be so far off to the side that you don't see any part of the castle at all bothers me.

I have had one of the worst Theme park view studios and could still see the Castle. Keep in mind that MS CM's don't always have the best info but are relaying information as they are asked to (or sometimes as they may have made up IMO). What I couldn't really do was see the castle from inside my room but could from the balcony which is I believe the worst you'll find from any theme park view room.

My complaint about some if the theme park view rooms is that there are lakeview rooms on the northside that have as good or even better theme park views and I wish they'd do some switching around of categories.

edit: Here is the view from 7428. There are theme park views 1 floor lower and only 2BR dedicates further around the tower.

Thanks for the picture. I could live with that view....at least you can see the castle and the fireworks. I agree it is not the BEST view since it is a lower floor but I knew that there was a chance of getting that type of view.

I hope you are right that the CM doesn't have the best information. I just can't imagine getting a MK view and not being able to see the castle and fireworks.

If you have booked a theme park view at BLT, you will definitely see Cinderella's Castle, Space Mountain, and the fireworks. You might not be able to see them from the bed, or from all parts of the interior of the villa, but you will definitely see them when standing on your balcony.

Some Members who booked the theme park view were expecting that the Castle would be front and center in their view. When they found that the Castle was still in view but off to the side (see Kat4Disney's photo, for example), they got upset and complained.

I suspect that the Member Services' CMs have been cautioned not to imply that the Theme Park view guarantees a 100%, head on view of the Castle from all parts of the interior of the villa.

Take ElizabethG's advice and check out work2play's excellent thread on BLT Rooms and Views. There are lots of photos of the views from the BLT villas.

Originally it was called the Magic Kingdom View but they got complaints that you couldn't really see the Magic Kingdom very well so they changed it to the Theme Park View.

Many folks see pictures on the internet or from Disney that show the castle and fireworks right outside your window. In reality the castle is pretty far away. All you can do is hope for the best.

the first 7 floors you see more of the parking and/or monrail - you need to be above the monrail for good viewing. (my opinion)

that say have a problem with heights so good with standard view (if only goes to the 5th floor)

so would ask for high as possible on the northern end.

the higher you are the better the view.

Wow! Some lake views have theme park view too?

All you can see are the tops of backlot buildings and the top of Space Mountain.

If that view is worth it to you then great. IMO the views are overrated and are more marketing hype than anything else, but again that's my opinion and I own there.

We stayed in a "Lake View" room back in May '09. The view from the "window" was indeed lake, but from balcony was all park:

I'm not sure the room number, but we certainly loved it, LOL. The picture doesn't do it justice. You could almost wave to the Engineers, lol!

I agree. In my opinion of course, the theme park view at BLT isn't worth nearly what they charge for it. It's a fun novelty, and the Grand Villas certainly are impressive. As mentioned, most of the views are parking lot, with the castle waaay out there. You get a lot more "view value" when you upgrade to the view at BWV or AKV and those premiums are even less.

I agree. I had planned to book a very brief stay at BLT for that MK view just to say I did it once (the decor does not appeal to me, but not surprising since I never liked the Contemporary either) but I got to go with a friend on her points for free. I'm glad I tried it on someone else's dime because at this point I wouldn't waste my points for the MK view, the proximity to MK, perhaps!

OP, good luck with your view request!

yes. i stayed in one of them. no view from the room itself but step out on the balcony and you could see the castle and space mountain...a great spot to watch fireworks. it was a terrific deal for lake view point prices...

with that said, i would not count on getting even an angled castle view when booking a lake view villa. it's a great thing when it happens but it's more of a fluke than anything else (i didn't request anything ahead of time.)

hopefully the villa classification changes that go into effect in 2013 will improve the theme park view issues...
