AGLET – We're Gonna Tour The World Together! Updated 11/9!!!

I've mostly been lurking, but I wanted you to know how much I'm enjoying the TR! Your dining reviews are great.

Wingnut drank the Beverly on purpose? Crazy!

My vote is for China's watermelon drink. It's way sweet, but it's the one I like best. It's fun to stand back and watch unknowing people take a swig of Beverly. :upsidedow

Last time I rode spaceship earth I looked like someone took a big bite out of my temple. Stupid Judy! :rotfl:

Can't WAIT to take my nephews on that ride!!!!!!!!!

Wingnut looks like he's about to burst out laughing after tasting the Beverly! You can only stay straight faced for so long Wingnut! :rotfl:

Hahaha oh the Beverley. I feel like the Italians got ripped off on soda selections. Those poor Italians...

The good news is, despite your misshapen head, it looks like yall will have a very HAPPY future, whether you go with the spaceship OR the submarine! :thumbsup2

Haha, my head always gets cut off on SE too! Stupid Judy!

Me 4!!
Stupid Judy x4.

I like Figment... I just don't like getting sprayed in the face with realistic skunk smell. :p
Oh I do love SE though! Great spaceship/submarine combo vehicle. Very convenient. :thumbsup2

I love Figment. It makes me happy. And Spaceship Earth. I love them. Must do every time we go.

They're both multiple must-do's for us too! Figment just makes me smile and sing along every time (how loud depends on how many other people are in our car with us!)

Haha, my head always gets cut off on SE too! Stupid Judy!

:rotfl: I don't know why mine always gets messed up too!

Yum, I love Club Cool! My favorite is the one from Costa Rica, have you tried that one? :thumbsup2

I really want that Figment shirt, I wonder if they still have it? There is not enough Figment merchandise in Epcot. :sad2:

LOVE Spaceship Earth! Except I can never show our pics from our "future" because we go out of our way to make the worst faces in the pictures! :rotfl2:

Which one is that, is that the orange one? I've tried sips of most of them, but I remember liking Kinley from Israel the best, so I just stick with that one! :thumbsup2

Yes! At least, it was still there when we were in the store in January! Figment is definitely under-represented!

Hahaha maybe I should just go with that and make silly faces from now on! My face always turns out silly anyways!

Great update!

Club Cool... I am with Wingnut.... I drink the beverly on purpose.

Pictures on SSE... I never am able to get a good one taken either. I often look like the undead..pale and snarling.

Thanks!! Hahaha he always does once a trip!

LOL it's hard to get a good picture...unless you're Wingnut, apparently!

I tried the Beverly on purpose in January, too...because I knew it was terrible and no one likes it, so I had to remember why

I looooove Imagination!! It's definitely a must-do for me!

:rotfl: I think that's why he tries it! I'm like, "you really did not enjoy this the last several times you've had it, but okay..."

Welcome!!! Glad to have you here!!! :goodvibes

LOL yup...I definitely did not!!!

That one is good too, but a bit too sweet for me (I think that one's Wingnut's favorite, actually!). It is funny to see people who don't know what they're getting into with the Beverly take a huge drink of it!

Wingnut looks like he's about to burst out laughing after tasting the Beverly! You can only stay straight faced for so long Wingnut! :rotfl:

Hahahaha oh I've had that happen too!!! :lmao: I'm sure your nephews are going to love it!

He does!! I'm pretty sure he went straight for one of the super sweet fruit sodas right after that!!

Hahaha oh the Beverley. I feel like the Italians got ripped off on soda selections. Those poor Italians...

The good news is, despite your misshapen head, it looks like yall will have a very HAPPY future, whether you go with the spaceship OR the submarine! :thumbsup2

I know what you mean! I know the bitter sodas are a cultural norm in Italy, but why did they have to only give the gross soda to Italy? There has to be another country with bitter or savory or another unusual soda! :rotfl:

Why thank you!!! I am excited at the prospect of our future, I'm sure Wingnut will be hoping for the submarine!!

Me 4!!

Hahaha I'm jealous of people that get consistently good photos on SE. Like Wingnut. Stupid Judy. :rotfl:

Oh, as soon as we enter the Smell Lab, I cover my nose. I'm very well-prepared for that part! It is really disgusting, there are a billion other scents that would be perfectly pleasant in that part. Lemon? Strawberry? Steak? Funnel cake? Anything but skunk!!

I think it sounds pretty useful! It'd make cross-terrain travelling very easy! :rotfl:

Oooh, club cool, we love that place too! I always try to trick DH into drinking beverly, but unfortunately he is getting smarter. Ha ha, someday I'll be playing that trick on DS *evil laugh* ;)

It does look like you guys have a great future! I know its not popular among hard core fans, but I think that choosing your future is cute, and I always enjoy watching it!

I can't believe Wingnut wanted to try the Beverly!!

We didn't do Figment last trip and I have no recollection of it from my other trips except my brother had a stuffed Figment!

Trying to get caught up before we are off on our trip. While I don't really enjoy the Beverly too much, I find myself doing just like Wingnut does...trying t anyway. :confused3

I've been so busy these past couple of weeks, that I've missed quite a few of your posts! Now I'm all caught up, and I have to say the post I enjoyed the most was La Cava! :thumbsup2 That is one place I know DH and I will be returning to this fall.

My recollection of Beverly is that it tastes medicine-y, like a really bad cough syrup. Yuck! Wingnut looks like he's putting on a brave face in the "Beverly" picture, but you can tell he's not enjoying it.

At D-land, they have a place in Innoventions where you can do the touchscreen Q&A that's on Spaceship Earth, and it creates the movie about your "future"...you can even e-mail it to yourself. But, somehow it's just not the same as it is when we're on the ride at WDW.

Hahaha I don't even have to try to trick Wingnut into drinking it, he likes doing it on his own!! It does say that it's bitter right on the label, so it does give it away a little bit!

Thanks!!! Yeah...I do miss the layout of the old ride without the choose your future (it just seems like a way that they didn't have to build 5 minutes worth of scenes!), but I do laugh every time!

Chemical flavor -- that is a very apt description of that nastiness! LOL!

Hahaha it is!!

I'm impressed by Wingnut's ability to discern any of the component flavors in the Beverly! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: He really was analyzing it this time! He's so funny.

He always wants to give it another try...I guess one day he's hoping to like it??

Awww a stuffed Figment sounds cute!! Figment is a must-do for us! (Well, me! :goodvibes)

Trying to get caught up before we are off on our trip. While I don't really enjoy the Beverly too much, I find myself doing just like Wingnut does...trying t anyway. :confused3

Hope you guys are having an awesome time!! Hahaha I don't know why he likes to try it. But he likes trying them all, so I guess he's giving each soda their fair chance!

Thanks!!! I think that is a must-do for us now too! I have to try that cucumber margarita!

Yeah, the Beverly is definitely not his favorite!

That's really cool! I thought you're able to e-mail the picture from Spaceship Earth to yourself in that whole area at the end, but I've never tried to.

(What did you guys decided to do insofar as your Bistro ADR???)

I'm all caught up (whew!) and just wanted to say I'm loving your report!

Also, I now want to go to Sanaa (though I always have) AND I just texted DH to tell him that I want a mousse-filled slipper.

Maybe I should stop reading reports...? :confused3 ;)

Hahaha no, I love reading reports - that's where I get all my best ideas to torment Wingnut!! ;) Sanaa really is wonderful, and a chocolate slipper is a great choice too! :thumbsup2

Random real-life update before we begin that has absolutely nothing to do with this TR, except for the fact that it's about me:

For those of you that aren't already friends with me on Facebook, then you missed my new haircut.

Hair, before (circa around a week or two ago):

...and after!!

(The hair is going to be donated to Locks of Love.)

My hair in a ponytail.

(Why, yes, I am wearing a Tinkerbell t-shirt! :thumbsup2)

---

We monorailed back to the TTC, and walked from there to the Polynesian, getting more and more familiar with the paths as the days went on. As we approached Tokelau (finally recognizing it AS Tokelau and not Tahiti!), we realized something.

We had wrongly assumed that the only doors into Tokelau was the one we had been using the whole time by the quiet pool, and the ones at the far end. Upon a closer (read: actual) look, we realized that there were actually 4 doors, one of which was right in front of us, meaning that we no longer had to walk around the entire building to get to the other door.

:headache:

Well that only took us 4 days to figure out!

Pretty pleased with ourselves, we entered through the new elusive door, and went back to our room. Wingnut decided he wanted to take a shower before dinner, and so I went out to our little patio to call my parents and say hi (and tell them about all of our awesome adventures up to that point! :thumbsup2)

Looking straight ahead:

We chatted for awhile, and then they asked how we were enjoying the Polynesian. (My parents usually like to stay at the Swan or elsewhere in the Epcot resort area, like we do.)

Me: It's really nice, the resort itself is really pretty. Very confusing layout. And it's fun having the monorail nearby.
Them: Would you stay there again?

Pause.

In a word, no. In a slightly longer explanation...(and I was going to save this until further along in my TR, but this was a conversation we had that day, and I figured it was time for a resort opinion update. I'm just full of opinions! :thumbsup2)

The Polynesian is a very nice resort. It is. But it just really isn't "us," if that makes any sense. Transportation-wise, yes, it was very nice to have the monorail, especially to and from some of our dinners. And the convenient and excellent view of Wishes was awesome. But OH how I missed the International Gateway. And the Friendship boats. And getting to DHS via bus was a bit annoying for us too, since it is a favorite of Wingnut's. The decor, the flowers and other flora and fauna around were beautiful, and the beach was very nice, but I thought the buildings looked very boring, and everything was just so brown. Every single building was brown, and I know there's a point where color can make things cheesy, but this was just too much for my taste. The rooms were nice, but dark. If you didn't turn on every single light, the room was super-dark, especially early in the morning. I did like our little patio. Being close to Kona Cafe was fun, and it was cool smelling the food cooking for the luau in the afternoon.

(That was an incredibly long paragraph...moving on below to give you guys a break!)

Overall, I felt like I was trying to love the Polynesian more than I was actually loving it. Wingnut says there were parts of the resort that he really liked, but overall, he would not stay there again. "I loved the setup of the entire place, it was really nifty. I liked the room. The bathroom was really nice. I liked the shops, very unique shops compared to the other places. The art gallery is cool, the restaurants in the resort are really nice."

(Yes, he did say nifty. ::yes:: )

Towards the lake:

Zooming in on our destination for the evening:

Tonight was a new restaurant for us, one that I had heard many many wonderful things about from Mary Ellen and many others, and we were super-excited to try...California Grill! :yay:

All business-casual'ed up, we decided to make our way over to the Contemporary a little bit early. I wasn't exactly sure where the restaurant check-in was, plus my mom had asked for a pad of paper she had seen at the Contemporary on their last trip.

I'm not sure if the Tiki torches are always on, but they seemed to be on most of the times we saw them.

A monorail ride away, we were at the Contemporary, ready to eat!!

Now that's a haircut!! Looks great :)

You summed up how we felt about the Poly, too! We love hanging out at the Ceremonial House, turns out we don't love staying at the resort. The rooms are way dark and the teeny tiny elevators and narrow hallways in the longhouses don't help.
I felt like a bad DISer not loving it, though!

Can't wait to read about California Grill!

I told you this on FB, but I have done the Locks of Love thing three times. You have inspired me to do it again. It is about to get really hot here until October, so I need to lose some hair. Because hair is hot.

LOL at Wingnut saying nifty. I LOL'ed. I dunno why.

I can't wait to read your review of California Grill. We loved our meal there last June and have another ressie for our September trip.

Well, you did it. You convinced us to change one of our ADR's to Sanaa. So if it sucks, we're blaming you. :rolleyes1

I can see how the Poly wouldn't be for everyone. It's our go-to resort (check out my signature - and my husband has stayed there 12 times, he believes). But honestly I feel as though as much as I love it, had we spent our honeymoon at GF or Yacht Club I'd love them as well. In fact I want to stay at both of those resorts! I do like the tropical theme, but I love the austerity of the other two resorts I mentioned. I do feel, though, that if I stayed at YC I'd miss the monorail (and of course the proximity to Tonga Toast...which would be a major problem for me). ;)
