A DISmeet here..a DISmeet there..Our August Southern Tour- Final Posts - #544!

Hello everyone!

This is a different type of PTR, no we are not going to Disney this time...we are travelling around the south and meeting up with a LOT of fellow DISers some we have met IRL, others just virtually here on the boards!

A big part of our trip other than being with our friends is taking Megan back to places we have lived and traveled to during the first couple years of her life. Since we lost her daddy Jim, it has become very important to me bringing Megan to revisit these cities and for her make her own memories and to add new memories in with our memories we made with Jim


I'm Lisa and my daughter is Megan we are very excited to be heading down to Atlanta, Charleston and Charlotte this summer!

We will be staying with DIS friends, MickeyTeacher - Shawna, Bruce, Ryan and Ansley who we spent part of our WDW trip last March together for a few days outside of Atlanta, and meeting up with a few more DISers - DisneyBarlans, BabyNala (who we met for a few minutes in October) and NiniMorris!!

Then Megan and I will be going to stay in downtown Atlanta to see the sites there and meet up with some family friends we haven't seen in years.

Next up will be 3 days in Charleston SC....Megan was born here so it has so many special memories for me....even though it will be bittersweet to take her back without her daddy, know it will be a wonderful trip for us both...to show her our favorite places and the golf course Jim supervised the building of!

Our last stop on our southern tour will be Charlotte NC....we also lived here for a year when Megan was two, we are staying with blessedmom4 - Judy, Pete, Christian, David, Rachel and Lisa! who have truely become family to us! Judy and I feel like sisters and we were blessed to meet them in October during Lisa's MAW trip!

During our stay in Charlotte, we are having a MEGA DISmeet with a number of ladies from the DISBoutiquers and are looking forward to finally meeting them IRL, do a bit of shopping and hanging out, I think we have around 15 coming in for our meet...so hopefully they will jump on here and say and will go visit the golf course Jim built here also!

So stay tune for updates....even though we aren't going to Disney, we are going to have a trip full of magic and fun!!!!

Judy (and Lisa) are trying to get me to do my own PTR but that's not going to happen.... but Lisa did say I could join in on hers

I am Andrea and got to know Lisa through the Big Give site and got to know Judy by participating in Lisa's Big Give. My dd is Alexa and is 8 years old. We are going to be staying at Judy's for a couple of nights with Lisa and Megan. Alexa calls Lisa her "penpal" and she can't wait to have a sleepover. She was asking for a playdate, but I thought a six hour drive deserved a little more than that!

I am hoping to drag Amy and Allison down with us!!! Amy lives in the same town as me and her dd was a former Wish Child as well. Since Amy lives inthe same city we got to meet and have become friends.

ETA: My dd does not normally dress like Dorothy -- this was a pic taken before her school play this month.

I also would love to see the golf course -- I wonder if we could do an early morning or late evening walk on the paths? Not sure if that's allowed or not, but if Jim built the course I think it should be allowed! And while I would love to see it, if you are happier going alone with Megan I have no objections and will stay out of your way. I have not gone golfing since having children so best for me not to ruin the course with my divots! I don't think I could do any damage walking the paths though -- your call on this one.

The golf course is The Club at Longview.com and is private, so not sure if they will let us on or not....I will probably call ahead and ask if they will give us a few minutes to take a couple photos ... I never learned to golf, before we had Megan if I went with Jim, I was his caddy and loved driving the cart!

Although I'm not a frequent poster and surely not up to the standards of the wonderful things everyone makes, I'm trying. The Charlotte Dismeet is close enough that I am going to try to make it! I would love to meet all the people behind all these beautiful things.

Everyone's work has really inspired me to test myself and see what I can make
