Our Not So Scary, Very Merry, Honeymoon - An Oct/Nov 2012 PTR

So exciting that you guys found your wedding dresses! :goodvibes I remember when I found mine and it was such a great feeling. I hope everything comes back okay with your CT scan. Oh and I love your tattoo! DH and I are getting Disney themed tattoo's for our anniversary in about 3 weeks. I'm super nervous as its my first one.

Thanks :goodvibes

That's exciting! About your first tattoo that is...It's really not that bad, I find it more annoying than anything. That being said though, I don't think I've been quite as nervous as I was when I got my first tattoo, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. What are you getting?

Thanks! :goodvibes

Maybe I will have to give RnR a chance...:scratchin

Thanks! :goodvibes

I feel really lucky to get to go to both parties, especially since it's something I didn't think I was going to get to do for a while.

I hear ya about wanting tattoos in a place where they're not showing all the time. You can only really see one of mine on a daily basis, despite that I have 9 tattoos in total (they look like 8, but I count the ones on my right leg separately because they weren't planned together and still kind a look separate). For me it's not that I have to hide mine, but that I like being able to show them off if I want or keep them hidden if I want. I find leg tattoos great for that :thumbsup2

i was thinking about leg- but then i thought about the climate here too. i get soooo hot- i don't really cool off until overnight. the idea of wearing socks and real shoes and long pants to cover a tattoo is unbearable to me. seriously sometimes i feel like i am menepausal LOL . but i did think if i could just tie it into the one i already have on my ankle somehow it would be okay to show most of the time.

I don't blame you...if I were in a warmer climate I probably would re-think the location of the one I just got. I don't think I could stand pants in that kind of heat. Getting it tied into the one you already have is a great idea though! :thumbsup2

so what all do you have?

Hello fellow DISsers! :wave:

Did everyone have a good weekend?

I had a fabulous long-weekend. I took Friday off because it was my graduation day :woohoo: and yesterday was Victoria Day, which essentially means I didn't have to work :laughing: So, today is my first day back at work, but being the lucky person I am, I don't have to go in until 2. :cool1:

Anyway, I just figured I'd check in and post a few things here. :goodvibes

My graduation ceremony on Friday went well :thumbsup2. I was expecting it to feel like it was long and drawn-out, but surprisingly enough I found it went by pretty quickly. The only downside was that I hadn't eaten anything before the ceremony :scared: My parents picked my fiance and I up, and they were going to get McDonald's muffins on the way here, but they had a bad experience, we'll say, and weren't able to get any muffins :sad1: That meant no breakfast for me. :guilty: So I was feeling pretty shaky and headachy by the time everything was done. We went out for lunch right after though, which was great.

It still feels weird to be done.

Saturday we went out for the muffins we didn't get on Friday :laughing: And we ended up going to the Maritime Tattoo Festival that was held over the weekend. A friend of ours was getting a tattoo, and didn't have many people going with her, so we offered to come and keep her company for a bit. It was...different. The place was packed, hot, and very stuffy. I could never have been tattooed there...not because it was dirty, but because it was so hot and stuffy from all the people. Our friend's tattoo turned out awesome though!

After supper we ended up going geocashing. It was my first time going, but my fiance had done it before with some friends of hers. I have an app for my phone, so thats how we found it, and it was just in the walking trail next to our building, so we didn't have to go far. I would defiantly do it again though, it was fun!

Yesterday I went to my Aunt's place for a celebratory graduation lunch, which was awesome. Afterwords we went to the Public Gardens for some pictures, and then had BeaverTails on the water front before coming back home.

Here's one of the pictures:

For those of you who have never seen/heard of/had a BeaverTail, this one happens to be my favourite (of the ones I've tried). They really should have a stall in Epcot in the Canada pavillion :laughing: It's called the Avalanche, and has cream cheese icing topped with skor bits, and drizzled with chocolate syrup. So good!

(not my photo, but this is what the hut looks like)

All in all, it was great weekend.

In other news, I just found out my wedding dress won't be in until late August or early September...:scared1: What?! How does it take that long to get it in, when I ordered it on the May 12th?! :scared1: I just hope there's enough time for alterations when I get it :scared:

That's it for now, but here's a picture of the two of us in our dresses to tide you over until the next time.

so what all do you have?

I'm assuming you were wondering about my tattoos....I've got the Alice in Wonderland piece on my shin, I've got the flowering vine on that same leg, that goes onto my foot, I've got song lyrics around my left ankle (was a tribute piece to a friend of mine who passed away of Cystic Fibrosis), I've got a bass clef behind my right ear, a treble clef behind my left ear, a red om symbol on the back of my neck, butterflies on my chest, and a design similar to this )O( on the inside of my right wrist. For the most part, the only one you would notice on a day-to-day basis is the one on my wrist. :goodvibes

I had a wonderful long weekend, thank you! Sounds like you did too!

Congratulations on the graduation!

I completely agree, 100% about beaver tails in Epcot. We should start a petition.

Oh the dresses are gorgeous! Scary thought though that yours is coming in so late! :scared1: My dress didn't get to me until two weeks before my wedding. What a headache. I hope yours gets to you much sooner than mine did!

Glad to hear you also had a good weekend! :goodvibes And thanks! :goodvibes

I wonder who we would petition for that :confused:...:laughing:I've always thought that a BeaverTails stall and a New York Fries poutine stall would be perfect in Epcot :thumbsup2

Just stopping by because I've been meaning to start a "thing" on here for the past few weeks but never got around to it.

So, I'm borrowing the idea from other people, but from now on I'm hoping to post a Disney picture each Friday before my trip. I'm sure I'll miss a few weeks, but I'm going to try and see what happens. I figure it's a good way to kick off the weekend. :cool2:

And so, to start us off:

CIMG4988.jpg

That photo was taken in December of 2007, probably on our first night, which was December 18th. I remember it like it was yesterday...we had such a long day that day...delayed flights and lots of worrying about missing connections and not making it to WDW in time for MVMCP, but in the end it all worked out, and despite how exhausted we all were, the minute we stepped through the tunnel under the train station in the MK, nothing else mattered except that we were in Disney World, together, for the holidays. It was such a magical feeling :santa: :grouphug:

Just wanted to show off a little arts and crafts my fiance and I were working on this afternoon...

I made this guy in the hopes he would turn out more bright green, but he darkened up in the oven...
photo12.jpg

My fiance made me a cupcake one! I can post a picture of that too if you guys would like to see it, but I figured I'd show off my intended LGMH here at the very least :)

This looks cool! I'm kind of confused as to how you do it. Is this a part of childhood arts and crafts that I missed? I need to get myself a LGMH too before our trip.

I am so jealous of the Beaver Tale. We usually go to the zoo about once a year and grab one there. I can't wait to eat one.

Also the wedding dressed look great. I ordered mine at the end of Jan and it only came in start of May. I was surprised as to how long it took as well.

Congratulations on graduating! Love the dresses! I just went to a wedding yesterday, my niece got married. Lovely time but I'm exhausted today cause I was up way later then I'm used to. My daughter loves geocaching. She's been doing it for a couple of years or more now. I can't remember the exact number but she has quite a few. Have you seen on here that they are pretty sure the haunted carriage ride is discontinued :sad:

Congrats on your graduation:banana:

You both look beautiful in your dresses :bride::bride:

Thanks! :goodvibes

Yeah, I did see that...it makes me very :sad2: I was so looking forward to it...now I have to plan around it...but I have an idea :idea:

Apparently I missed that part of my childhood too :laughing:...my fiance was really excited when she found them, saying she'd loved making them when she was a kid, but that they got rid of them, so she was really glad to see them back.

Thanks! :goodvibes I still think it's crazy how long they take to get in...but I guess that's why you're told to get them early.

So I've been itching to post all day and I wanted to yesterday as well, but I didn't want to bombard my own thread with stuff just from me :laughing:

Anyway...

Yesterday marks the 1 year anniversary since my last Disney vacation :sad1:...well, not really that :sad1:, but I am feeling rather nostalgic. It's going to be hard for me not to come on here every day until the end of when that trip was and be like "1 year ago today, I would have been doing [blank] right now" :laughing: BUT since I can't help myself...

This time (around 7:30 pm Orlando time), one year ago today, my fiance and I were probably having dinner under this guy:

IMG_2988.jpg

I had a really rough day, and that happened to be the first "real" food I had since breakfast, so I was really glad to be there.

After that meal, my fiance and I made a B-line over to the then newly re-opened Star Tours, which was fantastic :yay: and then we headed over here:

DSCN0325_filtered.jpg

to meet up with my parents (who had just arrived...long story) by Oprah Winfrey :laughing:

SO, to continue with this PTR...

I've recently found out that the haunted carriage rides over at FWR were discontinued:sad2:. It makes me want to :sad:...well, not literally...but I am still slightly upset by it.

If you'll remember, I had made an ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe on October 30th, in hopes that we would eat there and then head over to the carriage ride. Now that the carriage ride won't be happening, I started to re-think that ADR. It doesn't really make sense to keep it since we probably won't be anywhere near there that day, but at the same time, I've heard great things and it would be kinda fun to try a new place. So, for now I think I'm going to hang on to that ADR and see what happens.

Because of the potential cancellation of Whispering Canyon Cafe, and my utter frustration and being unable to get something at 'Ohana, I made an ADR for...

DSCF2432-1.jpg

I made it for 5:50 pm on November 2. I was thinking about how much I like 'Ohana and the food, and that got me thinking about how much I love the atmosphere at the 50's Prime Time...and the food for that matter.

And, because the carriage ride can't happen, I was thinking about booking the Backstage Safari at the AK for us. I would LOVE :lovestruc to do Wild Africa Trek, but it's just too expensive :sad1: I figure it sounds like a fun tour, and since we both really like AK it might be a nice compromise to the carriage ride. I'm also trying to keep this one secret...I don't know if she even knows this exists, so if I do end up booking it, hopefully it will be a nice surprise :goodvibes

Aww, I love reminiscing. I do that all the time too "remember last week/month/year? We were here, doing this..." haha. It's kind of fun when you know you have another trip in the works. :thumbsup2
Awww the haunted carriage rides are no more? :sad2: That's too bad.
I LOVED 50's!! I ate there for the first time last year, can't wait to get back!!

i think backstage is a great idea! good luck keeping it a secret!
so what are those beaver tails? sort of like a donut but better? they look yummy!
i love both dresses- i can't decide which i like better!
oh, and i'm so glad you posted that crying smiley! it seems that i could use it sometimes!

Same here! The 50's is awesome! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes I just hope there'll be space left by the time I go to book it :scared:

Beaver Tails are a deep fried batter, covered in various toppings. They're kind a light and airy like a funnel cake, but they're also a bit reminiscent of a doughnut. Very delicious :thumbsup2 You can only get them in the summer though (or at least here).

Oddly enough, I find myself posting that smily a little more than I'd like :laughing:

So I completely forgot to post a photo of the week yesterday...so here is this week's photo of the week...one day late :blush:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now for some awesome news...
Last night when I was on my supper break at work, I checked my e-mails from my phone and noticed I had something from Disney Destinations :idea: I was hoping that when I opened the e-mail I'd get some good news....and....
I GOT FREE DINING! :banana: :banana: :banana: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
I've been party: and :jumping1: ever since!
So, when I got home I called and had them apply it. The only thing that sucks a little is that it's only able to be used for the first portion of our trip. I'm okay with that though, because we weren't going on the Dining Plan at all, so anything extra is a bonus! :cool1: I also had a 30% room discount pin, but it was only valid until September 29, so I couldn't use that :sad1: The lady said that I should keep checking though, because there's a good chance they will extend the dates for the room discount. :thumbsup2
So, with the exciting news, I started really looking at our ADR's and, enviably, I made some changes. To recap, this is what I started with:
Oct 30 - Whispering Canyon Cafe, 6:10 pm
Oct 31 - Tusker House, 8:05 am
Nov 2 - Saana, 6:40 pm
Nov 3 - Teppan Edo, 7:30 pm
Nov 7 - Kona Cafe, 7:45 am
Then I added:
Nov 1 - 50's Prime Time, 5:50 pm
Now I have:
Oct 29 - 'Ohana, 8:05 pm
Oct 30 - Coral Reef, 5:45 pm
Oct 31 - Tusker House, 8:05 am
Nov 1 - 50's Prime Time, 5:50 pm
Nov 2 - Yak'n'Yetti, 4:45 pm
Nov 3 - Teppan Edo, 7:30 pm
Nov 7 - Kona Cafe, 7:45 am (OOP, not on DDP)
This leaves us with 2 unused TS credits each. I figure I'll just leave them be unused for now to wait and see about BoG (which I'm not expecting to be open), and because there are a few days I haven't been able to figure out what to do with :laughing: It might be kinda fun to go there without reservations for those days and figure it out the day before popcorn:: I still would like to get to Whispering Canyon Cafe, because I've heard good things, and it might be nice to get back to the Brown Derby but we'll see
And just to toss a few more pictures in here, I'll leave you with these food related pictures:
