Your ULTIMATE SURVIVAL GUIDE to Disney World at Christmas Time! UPDATE x2 10/21

I'm glad your trip was great, and I can't wait to hear about it!

I have to say, the Epcot/BW area resorts are definitely my new favorites, god, there are too many favorites! But I really do want to stay at Beach Club next time I've got some more money for a nicer trip. Thanks for the virtual tour!!

Hello!

I love your TRs, a little too much, but that's ok. I have read every single one of them, and I've read some twice because they are just too good!
I wanted to tell you I am following along.

The Beach Club is just so amazing and I totally agree with you about the smell. My mom asked a CM last year how they keep the hotel smelling so wonderful, but I forget what he told us. I'm so excited to stay there in August! 85 more days!

Can't wait for more updates!

PS: I loved your tweets from your past trip to WDW and your pics on Instagram!

Welcome home! It is tough coming home, huh? Especially when you don't know when you'll go back! Hopefully you'll be able to go soon. :)

I love walking to MGM and Epcot from the Boardwalk area. We usually always stay at Beach Club for some of our stay in the summer for that reason. I love it! It's so easy and convenient to just walk right over to the countries for a snack, drink or hear the entertainment. We were at Boardwalk this past December. Were you able to see their decorations? That was one of my favorite things to do during the holidays; look at all of the deluxe hotels' decorations! So beautiful. The only hotels we didn't see were Old Key West and Animal Kingdom.

Looking forward for more! And super excited to hear about your current trip. Can you at least tell me if you loved the dine with an imagineer? Was it worth the money? Was it awkward at all? I'm really thinking about doing this for my Dad and me!

Glad to hear you had another great frump trip :goodvibes

I LOVE the Beach Club! I stayed there in 2008 and it was just too wonderful! The smell in the lobby really is amazing- we loved it so much that after our trip, we found out what exact scent they pump into the lobby and bought it online, and we had the scent in our living room for a little while. :thumbsup2 I really hope you'll get to stay there soon, I'm sure you'll fall even more in love with it!

Haha is it really!? That's awesome! I love her name - it's so pretty! So therefore, I love your name too!

Thank you! I definitely will!

Yes, how weird is that! It's cool though, knowing there are other Josies out in the world  And thanks! You have a nice name as well :goodvibes

I'm happy to see new updates! I'm waaaay too excited to be there for the Christmas season this year. Dream come true! I can't get enough.

And I'm following you on twitter now! I somehow stumbled across you.. I think I'm following someone who responded to you and that's how I found yours. I love all the photos you post!

I'm 95% sure I'm going! I think we'll end up staying club level at Beach Club, but my Uncle is the one funding the trip so it's really up to him

Thank you so much!! Alicia and I were actually just talking about it yesterday and I think we're going to drive out to see you sometime soon because we want to see the new house and Alicia is hoping your mother will make her food :lmao::rolleyes:

YAYYY! That would be unbelievable! You'll have to let me know what ends up happening!

Hahaha my Mom is always willing to make some good food :cloud9:

What great timing, for me, that you have this update! I made an ADR at Cape May for a 10:30 breakfast for our Nov trip and I have no clue on how to get there. I assumed to to DHS, but from there.......:confused3

I know you'll be nice enough to enlighten me:goodvibes

Anyway... I totally agree, the Beach Club is stunning! I hope they have some Christmas stuff going while we are there!

Glad to hear you had a great trip!

Actually, the easiest way to get to the Beach Club is to go to Epcot and walk to the United Kingdom. The back exit is there - the "International Gateway." You follow it to the Beach Club and it literally takes like 5-7 minutes to get there! Going through Epcot is a lot faster than Hollywood,.

Yeah they definitely will! I'm guessing they'll have the carousel up again!

Thank you!

Yay for the updates! Oh my gosh all those decorations at the Beach Club are GORGEOUS! Especially that carousel, you're right people really should go see it during the holidays, it's just fantastic! I love the Ariel horse, so precious.

Also I'm glad you had fun on your recent trip!! I followed you and Kristen's updates on twitter, so I can't wait to read about the full trip!:goodvibes

Yay! Yeah they're super pretty! It's really worth taking the time to go see it!

Thank you! Tweet me and tell me that it's you so I know to follow you back there! I'm not sure if I do or not lol

Lauren!! Hellooooooo! I miss you! Gosh, I have SUCH a Disney depression right now. Especially considering a year ago we were texting each other all the time being like "OMG we'll be in Disney next month!" :goodvibes I wish we both had more trips booked. Preferably at the same time...

ANYWHO...

Jess!! Yay!! You are back!! I can't wait for your next report, but I'm still lovin' this one! The Beach Club is absolutely divine. I love everything about it. I literally stopped and stared at the picture of the trash can you took. :rotfl: But seriously, it is truly the most beautiful trash can ever...BECAUSE ITS IN DISNEY. And they can make a masterpiece out of ANYTHING. It's my dream to stay there too. Heck, I would love to stay in every single Disney resort. But the Beach Club is waaaaayyyy up on the list of super-want-to-do. ;)

Can't wait for more!! I'm both so glad and so sad you've returned. Yay for more tr-ing, boo for not being in the happiest place on earth.

Yes I am! Thanks for being such a big fan no matter what TR I'm working on haha. It really is the perfect resort. And I know, isn't that trash can beautiful? hahaha Disney can work miracles. And oh yeah, it's my goal to stay at every resort. And the beach club is one of the few that I haven't been to yet!

Thank you! And I completely agree haha

Welcome Home, Jess! I can't wait to hear all about the frumpalicious adventures you guys had.

Wonderful update, oh my God I love the Beach Club so much. I've never stayed there either but we always visit. It's such a serene place. I remember when I first went there I was so impressed with the entire Epcot Resort area. The fact that it could exist in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the parks. Disney is just perfection. :cloud9:

Ahh, I totally remember that smell. Your post really takes me back to December. I miss it so much!

Thanks Lia!

Thank you! SO DO I. It's ridiculous haha. I feel like when I finally stay there I will completely go into relaxation mode and pretend that I legitimately live there.

It's SUCH a good smell. And aww me too! I'm sure we'll both be back soon!

I have a very (un)healthy obsession with the Beach Club. I must say that lately it has been taking a back seat to Bay Lake Tower, but seeing these beautiful photos definitely made me swoon. (As much as you can swoon over photos of a resort!) It's also so nice to see the decorations during the day because we visited at night! :goodvibes

Oh I completely understand haha. So do I. The Beach Club and Bay Lake are my two FAVORITE resorts in all of Disney. Legitimately. The Best. Resorts. EVER.

Your food from Starring Rolls looks yummy! Especially your turnover!!!

So glad your dad wanted to move to an on property resort!! *sigh of relief*

Your Beach Club pictures were AMAZING! Those Christmas decorations are so gorgeous and the carousel is amazing. People at Disney are so talented!!!

Mmm it was SO good!

ME TOO!

Thank you! They were absolutely beautiful! I'm glad we took the time to go over there and see it! And omg yeah, they are ridiculously amazing haha. The people who work for Disney constantly amaze me ha

Loved your updates! We just booked a couple weeks ago a trip for Dec 15-18 and are staying at Beach Club villas. That is our home resort and contemplated changing to VWL but after your updates I am sticking with our first choice. So thanks!

Thank you! Aww oh my gosh I hope you have a magicaal time! That'll be so wonderful! And AHH both places are complete perfection... but I would pick the Beach Club out of the two haha.

Oh my goodness! The Beach Club is one of my DREAM resorts, too! Jake & I walked around there on our Christmas trip in 2009 and all of the decorations were just like your pictures.... breathtaking for sure!

What other trips do you have planned? Maybe you can stay at the Beach Club next year! It's on my list for 2013 for sure! I think it'd be perfect for the kids with Stormalong Bay AND being so close to Epcot!

I understand! Me too! I'm so glad you enjoyed them just as much as I did!

The only potential trip I have planned is maybe New Years Eve/the first week of January. And if that happens I REALLY want to stay at the Beach Club!! So we'll see what happens! And yeah those are two HUGE reasons why I want to stay there too!

Welcome home! Hope you had a fantastic trip
fantastic updates as always!!! princess:
your BC pictures are AMAZING!! So pretty at christmas time!!!!!
SWOON!!

Thank you! It was so much fun!
Thanks!
I'm so glad you liked them!

Welcome, welcome, welcome back. Nice to see you reporting again, you have been missed this past week.

Since my Family and I will be in the WORLD from 12/24 through 1/2 of this year your trip report has given us many new and exciting things to experience. We can not wait to hit the Beach Club up to check everything out during Christmas time.

I am actually going to print out some of your suggestions to bring along for our trip. Thank you for all the pictures and narrative to go along with them they are valuable pieces of information that helps Disney goers.

Thank you! I'm back again!

Aww that's going to be WONDERFUL! Yeah this Trip Report will have tons of information coming up that will help you plan your trip for that time of year! So I hope you keep reading the rest! Yay for the Beach Club - you'll love it!

Yay I'm so glad that the suggestions will be put to good use! You're so welcome - thank you for appreciating it! It's all worth taking the time to write these reports when I know somebody is able to take so much away from it! :goodvibes

Welcome back, I hope your trip together was lots of fun! I can't wait to read all about it:rotfl:
I LOVE the Beach Club too! I feel like I'm constantly talking about it on here, but I love it so much! LOL! its sooo nice, especially being able to walk to Epcot! :lovestruc

Thank you! We had a wonderful time!
It's SUCH a great resort! I completely agree!

I'm glad your trip was great, and I can't wait to hear about it!

I know, I feel the same way! You're so welcome! I hope you get to stay there someday soon!

The Beach Club looks BEAUTIFUL! I'd love to stay there someday!

It's AWESOME! Me too! I hope you do too!

Haha aww I'm so so glad you love my TR's! That's so great to hear! Thank you for being here!

Aww did she? I should ask next time I'm there! Ahh have a magical time!

Thank you!

And aww thanks for following along there too! I'm glad you liked reading the tweets/seeing the pictures!

Welcome home! It is tough coming home, huh? Especially when you don't know when you'll go back! Hopefully you'll be able to go soon. :)

Oh yeah. Plus this summer is going to be really rough between taking three summer classes and working two jobs and not seeing my boyfriend because he lives so far away. :sad2: I was so glad I got to start off the summer in my favorite place so I could ease into all of this stuff.

So do I! Ahh that's really lucky! Yeah we saw the Boardwalk decorations but not until way later in the trip. I didn't get to see Saratoga Springs or Old Key West's either, but I think they were the less extravagant deluxes.

Thank you! And oh my gosh YES I absolutely LOVED Dine With an Imagineer. It was one of my favorite experiences in Disney. And it was absolutely 100% worth the money. My Mom and I were actually talking about how good of a deal it was because you got a four course meal at THE BROWN DERBY, you dined WITH AN IMAGINEER, and you got a complementary souvenir! It was so worth it! I would definitely recommend it! It's an amazing opportunity and you can ask the Imagineer any questions you've ever possibly had about the Disney company!

Me too! OH MY GOSH WHAT IS THE SCENT!?!?!?! I WANT IT!! Oh my gosh that's so incredibly exciting haha. And oh yeah, if I stay there I will pretty much die of happiness.

I just wanted to apologize to everyone that I have to keep updating with two or three posts at the same time. I just took SO many pictures on this trip so close together, and I want to make sure the updates have enough "meat" to them words-wise haha. Hopefully it's not too much at once. Thanks for reading along!!

Chapter 42: I Can't Get Enough of this Scenery!
December 22nd, 2011

After admiring the carousel in the Beach Club Lobby, my Mom and I decided to go into the gift shop and take a look around. It is called "The Beach Club Marketplace." I love it.

I found some Duffy ears that I thought were really adorable!

dsc0304w.jpg

I know there are a lot of people out there who are not a fan of Duffy, as I was told by some of my friends on facebook last night when I posted a picture with him. But I do like Duffy a lot! He may not be a classic Disney character, but I classify him as a collectible type of item - like the Disney pins or Vinylmations, etc. I don't think he's trying to push his way through to the top. He's just kind of there for another aspect of merchandise, and if you're into him, great! If not, it's alright. There are other things to concentrate on.

But for me personally, he is an aspect of Disney, so I embrace him. Plus, he's originally from one of the overseas parks. So I think it's pretty cool that they're bringing an international twist to the parks here, especially in Epcot since it's the World Showcase and all.

dsc0306cv.jpg

Anyways, that is my opinion about Duffy. You don't have to agree or disagree, I was just throwing it out there. MOVING ON!

In the Beach Club Marketplace I bought a Hidden Mickey Book! I am ashamed to say that I haven't actually used it yet, but next time I go on a trip with my Mom or a small group, I really want to scope out those Mickeys! Finding them is SO much fun! I only have a small amount of them memorized so I need some new ones to add to my repertoire!

Then we continued back on our walk! We estimated that it takes 30-35 minutes to walk from Epcot to Hollywood Studios. But honestly, sometimes it just feels so good to walk off all of that food you consume over the course of the trip! Plus, you get to look at all of the Epcot resorts and the water and it's just beautiful everywhere!

Christmas Tip #21: If you have the time, I would definitely recommend taking the walk from Hollywood Studios to Epcot/vice versa. I think the friendship boat might even take longer, so you might as well get the exercise! Plus, it's a great way to escape the crowds and relax a little bit during your day.

We got to the international gateway entrance at Epcot. I took some pictures of the flags that were hanging there, they're so pretty! It says Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays in different languages!

dsc0307xu.jpg

dsc0308sp.jpg

Mom replaced her Annual Pass because it was getting all smudged up. We grabbed a Holiday map and headed into the park!

Another beautiful flower structure. I swear, Christmastime is Flower and Garden Festival Part 2!

dsc0309i.jpg

What day was it? December 22nd? Look at the crowds. These 2 days before Christmas were not bad at ALL.

dsc0310il.jpg

Epcot is so ridiculously pretty, sometimes you forget it's actually a theme park! The scenery is fantastic.

dsc0311z.jpg

And of course, I couldn't walk by without taking a picture of the Christmas tree!

dsc0312zo.jpg

img0978sh.jpg

Here is that Angel holding the world again! So cute!

dsc0313sa.jpg

MORE FLOWERS OMG. They're breathtaking.

dsc0315gm.jpg

dsc0333by.jpg

I love Pluto so much! Look how Christmassy he is!

dsc0316h.jpg

We walked all the way up to Future World to grab some Test Track fastpasses!

dsc0317s.jpg

Then we came back and watched MY FOUNTAIN perform it's wonderful show. The Fountain of Nations just makes me so unbelievably happy.

dsc0321e.jpg

I posted on twitter:
Every time I see the fountain of nations I just bolt towards it. #obsessed

It's so true. As Kristen would call it, it's like I'm "running from a fire." LOL

dsc0326ru.jpg

DID YOU KNOW that it is literally "the fountain of nations?" The water that is in that fountain is brought in by international Disney cast members, and when they start working there, there is a ceremony and they add their water into the fountain. CAN DISNEY GET ANY MORE PERFECT?!

dsc0322ko.jpg

img0976cp.jpg

Gotta love Future World.

img0977q.jpg

So then we went back into the World Showcase, so I have a ton more scenic pictures. Here we go:

THE MONORAIL!

dsc0335k.jpg

dsc0336y.jpg

We went to China first!

dsc0338q.jpg

dsc0339ai.jpg

The puppets in China are literally one of my favorite things in the entire World Showcase. I HAD to pay a visit to Norman Junior. I love him so much. I seriously don't know why I never buy him.

dsc0342y.jpg

dsc0341no.jpg

Chapter 43: Our First World Showcase Storytellers!
December 22nd, 2011

I also really enjoyed this Chinese Puppet because he looked like Rafiki!

dsc0345k.jpg

It was necessary to take some pictures of the architecture in China. It's absolutely magnificent!

dsc0343kq.jpg

dsc0344se.jpg

I posted on twitter:
Epcot Storytellers cram session before lunch. #bringit

We wanted to see as many World Showcase Storytellers as possible on this trip, so in China we saw THE MONKEY KING!

dsc06942lq.jpg

He always announced his name so proudly, and I can literally still hear the exact inflections in my head whenever I read/write that name.

dsc0346zs.jpg

The show was at 12:10 pm. He told us about Chinese New Year, how the Chinese try to figure out enlightenment, and lessons that are learned throughout life.

The cool thing about the World Showcase Storytellers is that you can take a picture with them afterwords after the show! It's like a character meet and greet! Woohoo!

dsc0348pq.jpg

Once that was over, we zoomed over to France in record time to see Pere Noel at 12:30 pm. (Each story is about 10 minutes long.)

dsc07022q.jpg

He told the story of a little girl named Bebette who wrote to him and talked about her Christmas traditions. She leaves out her shoes so he will fill them with presents, she talked about her little figurines in the manger, etc.

dsc0350wl.jpg

dsc0352o.jpg

Then we went BACK to the other side of the world to Japan!

dsc06992ju.jpg

There was a story at 1:25 pm. The story teller in this case was a little Japanese lady. She was literally the Japanese version of my AP English teacher that I had senior year. She had so much energy and she was precious!

dsc0353tg.jpg

She told us about Darumas, which are traditional Japanese dolls. If you receive one for the holiday, you color in a pupil of one of the eyes and you make a wish. Then, when your wish comes true, you color in the other pupil! I was literally tempted to buy one, I love the concept!

dsc0356s.jpg

They celebrate their holiday until February 3rd. They ring the bell 108 times on New Years because there are 108 desires. So after ringing the bell, they can start the New Year off with a clean slate. I really enjoyed this specific story a lot because their traditions are unique and were fun to hear about!

dsc0357tu.jpg

We moseyed around Japan for a little bit to take a look around.

dsc0358rk.jpg

And then we realized that we were a little hungry! So we went back to Mexico and grabbed some lunch at La Cantina!

We got our food and went to the inside seating area, which is actually La Hacienda! We sat at the table next to where we sat on our last trip! We had a beautiful view of the water.

dsc0360lc.jpg

We split some chicken tacos and they were really good! My only complaint was that there was no sour cream! I didn't think to ask for it at the window, so I don't know if they had it or not. But next time I definitely need to get some! They would have been even better!

dsc0359h.jpg

So we ate, went to the bathroom, and at 1:45 pm there was a Mexican Storyteller!

dsc07132gr.jpg

Actually there were THREE storytellers - the Three Kings! The show was outside of the pyramid-like building in Mexico.

dsc0361e.jpg

The one performer only spoke spanish, which was really cool! I was impressed with myself because I actually understood some of it, even though I haven't taken Spanish in years!

dsc0363wh.jpg

If you don't know Spanish, this story may be a little bit confusing, but their costumes were EXCELLENT! It's worth seeing this story just for that. They were definitely my favorite costumes out of any of the storytellers!

dsc0364wd.jpg

We made our way back into Future World, and I saw Santa Duffy greeting the guests! He's so cute!

img0981th.jpg

Thank you, Disney, for your kind holiday wishes on simple directional signs. YOU'RE PERFECT.

img0982f.jpg

And a few last flower pictures to end the update:

Your pictures are seriously phenomenal! Is it rude for me to ask what kind of camera you use? We just have a point and shoot, and I really think we need something bigger and better. Your pictures make me want whatever camera you have, because they are so vivid and bright! You are an excellent photographer!

Yay! More Updates! :)

Duffy is seriously adorable. Duffy’s “girlfriend” (Shellie May) is adorable, too. But she is only at the oversea parks. I would love them to bring her to WDW!

We have a trip planned to go to WDW over Thanksgiving and I am so excited to see all of the Christmas decorations, especially at Epcot! They are just so pretty!

The storytellers seem amazing.

Gaaahhh, WHY CAN’T NOVEMBER COME SOONER?!

Thank you so much! And no, not all all! Don't worry a lot of people ask me that! I have a Nikon D3100. It's a DSLR camera and it's absolutely PHENOMENAL. I love it so much. I also use iPhoto to fix up the pictures if they need it haha. I would definitely recommend that camera! And aw thank you!

Are the story tellers there in the evenings?

Leslie

I want to say yes because I think I remember there being some random ones at like 5,7, and 8 o'clock. But it depends on the country. Most of them happen from like 12-4. Just check your holiday guidemap and it will tell you everything!

Epcot is my absolute favorite park, there is so much detail in Epcot that seeing everything is next to impossible.

It's so beautiful! I agree!

Yay! More Updates! :)

Aww that's awesome! I hope you have a magical time - I'm sure you will!

They were REALLY awesome!

And I know, right?! Don't worry - it'll be here soon!

I couldn't the website we ordered from, but here is another place that offers the Beach Club smell- they use the scent Green Clover & Aloe!

:goodvibes

Hahaha omg it's $200 :faint: Disney clearly goes for the best of the best!

Duffy came from the Tokyo Disney right? I don't think I noticed much of his merchandise on my last trip in '09. I guess I am kind of like you, if you like him and embrace him thats great, if not there are lots of other Disney characters to focus on. He sure is cute though!

Do they do storytellers throughout the year? These are all holiday themed, so do they offer regular ones at other times of the year. The Mexican one would be so interesting to see with my friend Sam because she speaks fluent Spanish so she could translate the whole thing for me! :thumbsup2

Love all your pictures!! The flowers are gorgeous!!!!!!

I've never seen WDW during the holiday season, but have seen DLR and your pictures have me definitely wanting to pay a visit to WDW during this time soon.

I so hope u get your wish to stay at the Beach Club soon...it just seems like such a perfect resort....how far along the list are on having stayed at each hotel?

I love your pictures and details about the storytellers....I particulary think the Mexican ones looked awesome.

Yay for La Cantina...World Showcase CS is always the best.

Can't wait for more:goodvibes

What a fabulous update. I love that they have all those storytellers out during Christmas. What a wonderfully unique thing to experience at Disney!! That is so incredible that you can learn so much and I love that you can get pictures with all of them too. It sounds absolutely fascinating!! Santa Duffy is so adorable too!! Goodness...I am so ready for summer, but man :santa: the holiday season is so magically amazing!!

I just wanted to apologize to everyone that I have to keep updating with two or three posts at the same time. I just took SO many pictures on this trip so close together, and I want to make sure the updates have enough "meat" to them words-wise haha. Hopefully it's not too much at once. Thanks for reading along!!

I LOVE your trip reports Jess! (First time posting though!). You could NEVER post too many updates for me! I can't wait to read more about this one, and hopefully about your latest trip! (if you make a TR for that)

I completely agree about Duffy! What's not to love about a cuddly teddy bear, seriously? No need to get panties in a bunch over him!

You seriously have such a good eye for photography. That picture looking across the World Showcase Lagoon is just GAHH. So beautiful. AND. That first monorail picture? Is it my imagination or are those clouds to the center-right in the shape of a classic Mickey ears hat? They totally are.

It's cool hearing about all the storytellers, especially since during my two December trips I only heard bits and pieces of Monkey King and Canada guy. Hahaha. So yay! :goodvibes
