…and we said we weren’t going this fall! (Or how this trip came to be.)

Well, what happened you see is that…

There’s this girl (me):

072-1.jpg

Her name’s Rachael and she’s a 20-something year old with a love for the Mouse. By day, she’s a member of the youth services department at two public libraries, but by night she’s a planner and Disney trip planning is what she does best.

There’s also this boy (Rachael’s husband):

073-1.jpg

His name’s Greg and he’s a 20-something year old who has developed a love for Disney that has even surpassed Rachael’s expectations. He rides a very fake monorail (read: train) into a big city every day to work as a testing engineer.

They took a trip to Orlando in March & April 2012 and while many great memories were made, there were some times, and one in particular, that left (dare they say?) a sour taste in their mouth about Disney. (*Gasp!*) Never fear because that sour taste began to fade away and returned with a yearn for a redo.

After hours (literally) of planning, crunching numbers and just a few stipulations from Greg (we MUST stay on property, he needs to have “plenty” of pins to trade and we need to see Fantasmic), Rachael decided on the dates for the trip: Thursday, November 1 to Wednesday, November 7 and the resort: Pop Century! They’re taking advantage of free dining; upgrading from the quick service plan, of course.

I'm here! And I'm first? Yay! :cool1:

Saturday to Wednesday is what we just did for our anniversary trip! As long as you realize you probably won't get to do every attraction you want, you will be fine! :cool1:

I really wish you guys were going in November! :(

I wish our dates overlapped, too! :( When are yours exactly, the second week in November???

I'm in!! :cool1:

We'll just miss you... I'll be there for a girls "weekend" from 10/10-10/14 - just added a day!! :cheer2:

Yep, the 2nd full week, November 9-17. I'm thinking I MIGHT add the 8th on there, just to get more Food and Wine time in, but I'm not sure how Brandon will feel about that...

I also keep thinking maybe I should switch to the week after Thanksgiving, so there is more Christmas stuff going on? But I hate the idea of missing Food and Wine! Then again, we could always just go next year in October for a whole week. I don't know! As of now, 11/9-11/17! :thumbsup2

I'm here! I am SOOO excited to see a new PTR for you! And, we're totally going to be at Disney the same time! Our dates are Sept. 29 - Oct. 6. How exciting! :cool1:

I can't wait to hear all about what you have planned. Also, I am very curious about your Spring Break trip. I want to know what happened! :rotfl:

Welcome, Amy! :) Yay for adding an extra day! How do you plan such a short trip? I'm feeling really down about it...

You can't miss Food and Wine! Well, you can but I wouldn't want to. We  it!

Yay!!! We NEED to have a DIS meet!:banana::banana:

When it's a getaway without the family, it has to be a short trip. And it's a very different type of trip. It's really just about being away with friends & slowing down the pace a bit. We try to focus on the things we wouldn't normally do with our families.

Every trip I say that we are going to slow down the pace and the only time I can say that I really felt that rang true was on our trip last October. But, we also had 10 full days. This trip will be much shorter but I'm hoping that since we did spend time at the parks in March/April that we can slow down a bit. I really want to attend MNSSHP and visit food and wine twice but other than that I don't have anything on my must do list.

Yeah for another F&W trip!! Can't wait to hear more about all your plans!

 Food and Wine Fest is amazing! I am really looking forward to it. :) Looks like I'll have to pop on over to your PTR.

Life! (Or why I haven't posted another update.)

We've been busy around here lately. The library I work at does a summer reading program (which I'm sure most public libraries do) and it starts in two weeks and we are in crunch time trying to get all of the programs planned and such. Once things get started, it will settle down a little bit.

Greg and I have also been toying around the idea of putting our townhouse up for sale. We're hoping to meet with a realtor this week. I really want to pay off my student loans and as long as we don't have to take too much of a hit to sell our townhouse now (We're going to take a hit, we've already come to terms with that), our plan is to use the equity we have in the house to pay off my student loans, rent a smaller place for a year or so and save up money for a down payment on a house in the area that we want to live.

I also have an interview on Thursday for another part-time position at a library. I'm really excited and I hope that I get the job but I definitely am not one of those people that thinks I have the job 'in the bag' before I am offered the position. It would be great to work full-time (between both part-time positions) in a library setting, though. Not to mention I'd be getting paid significantly more than I do with my write-from-home job.

Also, I really would like to switch our dates to the end of October. We'd be there over Halloween and into the beginning of November. Last year, Greg and I decided that it would be a great time to go. I even made a couple of ADR's just in case. I'm waiting for some type of deal to *hopefully* be announced before I officially switch and that is probably not going to be until the end of July/beginning of August. I'd also like to go for a whole week but we definitely need some type of discount for that to happen!

Stay tuned b/c I am planning on posting an update real soon with pictures from our trips since we got married in 2009! :)

Good luck with the job interview! I'm sure it will go great! :goodvibes I can't wait to see some pictures of some past trips. Those are always so fun to look at.

Good luck on selling your townhome! The process of selling is so hard! Good luck! Take the time to pick a good realtor who sells similar properties in your area. They will know how best to list and promote.

Also good luck on the 2nd job!!

Good luck with the interview! :thumbsup2

I'm hoping for Free Dining too, reading about people getting pin codes is making me so mad! I don't know why I'm not getting one! I'm tempted to call Disney to ask if I have one, but I don't like getting CM's that have a problem with checking...some of them are great and want to help you, and some of them act like it's such a hassle! :confused3

Joining in, we'll be there at the same time Sept. 30th to Oct. 7th if you don't change your dates. Here's some pixiedust: on getting that free dining pin.

Thanks, my interview is this afternoon and I'm sooo nervous! I have to do an abridged storytime and present it in front of adults. I am so comfortable with the little ones but when I do it for just adults, I feel dumb. Ugh!

Thanks! The realtor we're meeting with this evening has over 30 years of experience and she sold the house of the family that I used to nanny for in 2 weeks. I don't expect that but I do believe she knows what it takes to sell in this market. :)

Good luck with the interview! :thumbsup2

I know! Ugh! I had Greg call last week and we had NO pin. :sad2: Honestly, I haven't really thought about our trip in the past week or so with everything going on! It's always in the back of my mind, though!

Hey, guys! I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack! Still no news on the second job front, but they said early to mid of this week I should hear back either way or possibly be asked for a second interview. I also interviewed with another library today and although it's closer to home and pays a bit more, it's less hours and requires two evenings that I'm not sure will work with my current job. We'll see. I'm hoping at least one of these positions work out! :)

Now, may I present to you:

.......................................Disney Through the Years!

2004: My first trip to Disney World! I went with my high school marching band as a junior. Highlights include marching down Main Street USA, wearing our Mickey Ears around the Magic Kingdom and spending the evening in Epcot!

2006: My family went to Disney World! It was my dad, step mom, three younger brothers and my step aunt. I loved going with my little brothers (who aren't so little anymore, two are graduated from high school and one has one year left and all of them are taller than me now!).

2009: Our honeymoon! We spent just four nights in Disney World. We managed to visit every park and we even spent time at the pool more than once!

2009: Christmas Time in Disney World! It was great to visit during this time but I didn't like staying at All Star Sports and for some reason, the vibe of this trip just wasn't the same as the others.

2010: Our first Food & Wine Fest! We fell in love with fall in Disney World during this trip. We were also upgraded to the Grand Floridian this trip and my cousin was doing the CP so we got to spend some time with her.

2011: Sister's Trip! This trip was super short (Friday AM to Monday PM) but packed with activity.

2011: What has quickly become our annual fall trip! We attended MNSSHP this year and we love it!

2012: Spring Break. We didn't enjoy staying off-site and we didn't enjoy the crowds. Epcot was definitely our favorite park this trip.

I love when people post pictures from their previous trips... especially the trips from a long time ago. :thumbsup2

Good luck on the job front! I'm sure it will all work out for the best!
