Oh, bother!

I know we are planning on going to Disneyland during a very busy time(June14-19), but I didn't think that there would be NO availability at the hotels if I waited till now to book!

Ugh.

Anyone else have this problem? What did you do?

We REALLY want to stay at a Disney resort hotel, not a good neighbor one.

Hope something comes up.

Guess I'll have to call and see what someone through Disney says. :sad2:

Darn it.

You might have to call each day and hope for a cancellation... or maybe even twice a day... so if one comes up it doesn't get grabbed up by someone else... The opening of Cars Land is big! I am not surprised everything is booked up! Good luck! :wizard:

The DLR Hotels need to increase their prices! They are obviously too good of a deal.

Wow, you are trying to book the weekend of the grand opening of carsland less than a month out. :scared1:

you might think about trying something offsite. of course the place is going to be booked solid.

I'm not shocked with the Carsland opening. But I wouldn't have been shocked without the carsland opening either! One month out is way close. If you wanna go during that time I'd do what the PP suggested and call a couple times a day and cross your fingers.

If you REALLY wanna go during that time I'd suck it up and go to a good neighbor..if you can even get in one of those!

Yea if you have any shot it would be at a good neighbor. You waited so long you may not have the option of being picky. I doubt you will get one of the close ones, you may have to settle for a little longer walk. I recomend the Motel 6 anaheim Maingate. Its about a 20 minute walk but it was clean and affordable. Not much comes with it, as its just a place to sleep really but I didnt have any real complaints and the staff were VERY nice and helpful.

Expedia has PPH for $400 a night, and the grand for $800.

If I can not get something over the net I always have good luck with calling or using Expedia, etc. Depends on what the budget will stand and what your needs are.

Wow...you're coming from MN and you don't have a hotel booked? Do you have plane tickets? I would definitely look for something off site (which is still really close imo, I've never stayed at a resort hotel and never felt like I was missing anything)

I check the AP calendar regularly, and I know June 14th has been "sold out" for at least 4 weeks. I'm pretty sure that Disney reserved a lot of the rooms for the media (Media Day is June 14th for Carsland). Just guessing, but it makes sense to me. One option you may want to consider, although not ideal, is to call Disney hotel reservations and see if you can book onsite before the 14th and then after the 14th - staying one night off site. Again, not the best option. If you want to stay off site for your entire vacation, and you want it to be at a nicer hotel, you could stay at the Hyatt Orange County. They do have an exclusive shuttle that takes you to Disneyland and departs every 30 minutes.

Fairfield Inn Anaheim has rooms available for $184. A bit pricey but only an 8 minute walk to the gate.

You can book there and continue to look for a better deal. Check their cancellation policy to make sure.

So I went on Disney website and they still have good neighbor hotels left, like the Ramada Inn Maingate, which is right across the street (like 5 min I think? you can see fireworks from there), has a remodeled pool that looks nice, and a cont. brkfst. I suggest You jump on a good neighbor if you can't change your dates before they fill up 2

I know it isn't the point, but may I ask why the late booking? It sounds like you've known your dates for awhile, or am I wrong about that? Seems like there's some availability, check out the above tips, but move quick before they're gone too. Good luck!!!!

Go take a look at Get Away Today's website. They might still have your dates for onsite hotels. You are not required to buy your tickets as part of the package, you can drop them if you want, but if you don't have tickets yet they have good prices on those usually.

Good luck with getting your rooms! I know you had your heart set on a Disney hotel but don't rule out Good Neighbor hotels, remember once you're there you're going to want to spend most of your time in the parks anyways! I booked last week for our dates (July 22-28) and got the Tropicana Inn & Suites for $139 a night, it's right across the street from the parks. Definitely a rate I can live with!

I agree, keep checking several times a day, and call them directly. Hopefully something will come up. Good luck!

Tongue-in-cheek though that comment was, ValpoCory, your advice has been invaluable on this board the last couple of days. I don't have enough posts yet to send a PM, but a big THANK YOU! to all of your posts about renting DVC points.

That IS the only way it's worth it for the budget-conscious to stay on-site at DLR. If you ever have any points to rent, please keep MrLincoln in mind. You've been HydroGuy with your posts the last couple of days here.

Again, many thanks!

OP, the day Disney formally announced CL opening, GCH sold out THAT DAY!! ;)

Maybe the suites were still open, but all the regular rooms were gone! On top of that, people were already booking the rooms for that weekend weeks before because the date was already rumored on from Mice Age and then spread around other sites, so many people, including two of my friends, booked rooms that weekend weeks in advance 'just in case'.

So I'm sorry about your plight, but no people have been waiting months, if not years to book a room for opening weekend! So its not a surprise. I mean the day Disney announced reservations at Carthay Circle restaurant, that sold out completely on that day within hours! You just have to be fast!

That said, yes there are always cancellations so just keep checking daily, but I imagine quite a few people are doing that too. But why not a friendly neighbor hotel? I will be staying in one of those (no way could I afford $400 a night lol) and you will get a lot of the same perks like MM, etc. I'm guessing there will be a few extra perks for Disney resort guest, but its better being there with an offsite hotel then not being there at all IMO.

It's no problem, sir! Thanks for the kind words. I'm the type of person that when I find a great deal that made me happy and can make other people happy, I want everyone to not only hear about it, but I want to also help people with it if they want to know more.

Like over on the Budget Board, I spotted a deal at my grocery store here in Texas that was essentially selling $100 Disney Gift Cards for $85. I started a thread last night to explain it, and dozens of folks have taken advantage of the deal. Just paying it forward for all the great advice I've read from experts on the DIS and elsewhere. I love this place.

Thanks again.

And p.s. ... I've got nothing on HydroGuy!
