Fantasmic! Dessert Reservations through the Disney Vacation Planners?

Hello,
I could swear I read in the Fantasmic! Superthread that one of the benefits of using the Disney Vacation planners was that you could reserve the Fanstsmic! Dessert Package BEFORE the 30 day mark. Did I just dream this up? :confused3

We booked our entire trip through Disney and will be staying at the Grand Californian. My MIL just called to secure our Fantasmic! resies for June 26 and was told that she had to wait for the 30 day mark. Is this correct? Or is this just ANOTHER case of a CM who does not have the right information?

Does anyone know the scoop? Have any tips for how to make this happen? Any help would be appreciated.:)

TIA,
Lorie

As the author of that thread :) - you misread it. You can't reserve before 30 days (which is actually one month - not 30 days for everyone's info). You can tell Vacation Planning before the one month mark that you want a Fantasmic dessert reservation and they will make it on your behalf on the morning of the one month mark. They will ask you for your credit card because that is needed.

Thanks for the clarification Hydroguy. Is there some particular department we should be calling, because they told her that she would have to call Disney dining herself at the 30 day mark.

I have read as many of your posts as I can! Thanks so much for all of your advice. It's always so helpful!!:thumbsup2

I have not tried this for 2 years but have heard they still do it. I was planning to do it soon in advance of our July trip. If they do not do it anymore I guess I am not sure what the Vacation Planning service is for. :confused3

As of one month ago they were still doing this. I called the phone number for Disney Vacation Planning that was listed on my confirmation letter. I called a few days ahead of the one month mark, gave them my credit card info, and they made the reservation at the one month mark. When I checked into the Grand Californian my tickets were waiting for me. Much easier than trying to call in myself. You lose a bit of control, but getting this reservation wasn't going to make or break my vacation so I gave it a shot.

So I have booked our grand stay and 5 day hopper passes through Disney themselves, is this the same as Disney vacation planning?

FYI the Vacation Planning phone number is 714-300-7520. When u call they will first confirm that you are staying at a Disney hotel and then will proceed to help with whatever you need.....

By "grand stay" do you mean the Grand Californian Hotel? Then, yes. Guests at any of the Disney hotels qualify. Otherwise, no.

Is this service also available to room-only reservations?

YES, you just have to be staying on site, I have used a lady by the name of Lauren Flicker for the last few years and they have been absolutely wonderful at getting my reservations made including F.

Yep! I only do room only and have never done a package at DLR.

You guys rock, thanks! I had called myself at the 60 day mark for our WOC dinner (and ended up changing to CC when reservations became available anyway), but I will be working and might not be able to call, at the one month mark for the day we want F! reservations. This will set my mind at ease!
