How can I find a schedule of when certain meals are served? We too are trying to plan ahead for may 2013. popcorn::

You can call the front desk and they will tell you when you get closer to your dates :-)

I'm surprised no one is going the week we are going! hahaha Something wrong with that week? :lmao:

It's been forever since I've visited the DISBoards so glad I did this morning.

We will be in HHI Oct 21-27 in a 1BR. This is our second trip to HHI. We totally fell in love with this resort our first trip. We are alternately yearly trips between WDW & HHI because WDW has become SO expensive, even with DVC factored in there. HHI is a fabulous alternative to WDW. So relaxing...it was actually a vacation!!

Hello to all! :wave2:
I was so excited to find this thread!! I just booked HHI for June 5-10!!! SOOOO excited to have vacation ON THE BOOKS!!! This place looks wonderful. We have never been to this resort or to HHI so we are really looking forward to it!! :cool1:

I would love any tips about room location, things to bring, etc. Also I would love to "meet" DIS*ers ahead of time so maybe we can connect when we are there. We are ME Andrea and DH Kyle, DD16 Megan and DS12 Evan. My kids would love to know if there are other kids around their ages that will be there at the same time too!! :goodvibes

We are disney fanatics, and big pin traders..I read somewhere that there is pin trading here...anyone? :confused3

So glad to be here on this thread for the next couple months!! :goodvibes

we will be there June 4-9, It will be my husband and myself along with son almost 16, his best friend 15, and our daughter who is 8 going on 20... We have stayed at Hilton head before in other condos but there is our 1st DVC stay on the island, only a few more weeks- getting very excited!:beach:

maybe we will cross paths during our visits!

We are going June 3-9, first time!
Can someone tell me te cost of the shrimp boil?
Also, where s a good pace to buy beach chairs and umbrella?
Good suggestion on 9 hole golfing?

We are going June 4- June 9, we have been to the island before but this is our 1st DVC stay. We are also from Ohio- my son is a huge OSU fan, love your mickey avatar!

Why did it just occur to me to check DIS for a HHI thread?? Anyway, we will be in a 2BR from 5/18 to 5/23, and spending two nights in Charleston before that. So excited! It will be me, DH, DD5, DS3, and my sister. We haven't been there since 2007 when my DD was 6 months old so looking forward to the trip.

We were going to do Charleston before this trip as my husband has a week and a half off, but my sister in law can't get the days. Bummer! It sounds like a great place to visit!

Yeah, me neither..my waitlist is still not coming up, so SOMEONE is going. LOL
So glad I just went ahead and booked those couple of days I needed on cash.

We will be there June 2-5 in a 2BD. It will be myself, DH, DD (5), DS (3), and my mom and dad are going to help with the grandkids. This will be my and my husbands second time to HHI DVC - we went the first time six years ago for our last vacation prior to my daughter being born. We are looking forward to going back. Only a short visit on our way down to WDW afterwards to stay the rest of the week.

For anyone that has been down the first week of June, are the pools and/or ocean warm enough for swimming?? Of course with the weather patterns we've had it may be a lot warmer this year than previous years (I know here in OhiO that seems like the case), but just thought I'd ask... :)

Not sure where we'll stay yet, maybe some small town 1-2 hours away from HHI. I want to leave on Saturday to at least get some of the 12 hour drive out of the way and be all set to check-in early on Sunday to start enjoying things around the resort.

Oh my yes the ocean and pools will be great for swimming. We usually go third week in June and find the ocean temp to be around 80 degrees and the pools warm but not too hot. Some years they are even adding ice to the pools to cool them off!! But is usually when we go in Aug., but is has also occurred in June!

We also have a 12 hour drive. We like to do it in one day and get it out of the way and get to the beach as soon as possible! So we drive the 12 hours onto the island and stay at the island Hampton Inn the night before our Disney check-in. We wake up leisurely, eat their free breakfast and go to check-in at Disney. It's just a few miles down from the Hampton Inn. We then head to the beach and Disney pages us when our villa is ready. We feel like we are on vacation sooner because of getting that 12 hour drive out of the way.

Enjoy!!

Wow thanks for the info on the Hampton... I just booked a Family Suite for our 1 night!! :) That would be nice to already be minutes from the resort vs. hours... :D I just have to run the mileage to make sure the trip is driveable for us... With kids anything over 10 hours locked in a car is pushing it... :S Thanks though for the info on the hotel, at least we have a room reserved!!

Is anyone willing to post some live updates or a trip report when they get back from their May trip? I would love to hear about them since we are planning for next May.

If you add non DVC people to the list, please add us :) We are going July 14th - 20th in a 2 bedroom. It will be me, DH, two sons (7 & 3), in-laws and my Mom. This is our first visit to HH and we are really excited ... and starting to look for tips and suggestions. I know we will be taking a day trip to Savannah and I want to do a dolphin tour, but otherwise, it's up in the air. I'd love restaurant suggestions too!

Thanks

May- Warm or HOT days, cool or warm nights. Last few days around here have been very pleasant, but, we have also had 100 deg days.

July...prepare for heat. Should be a little cooler on the island, but, if you come to Savannah, be prepared for hot and muggy.

Restaurants: HHI, One Hot Mama's, Signe's and Pazzo are very good. The Grill at the resort and at the beach house are worth at least one trip each per stay. Joyceburgers are the best! Joyce cooks in the grill. She is VERY friendly and customer oriented.
Other places? Ask Mike the Pool Guy. He is from around here and knows most of the restaurants on the island.

If you do come to Savannah, try to get into Mrs. Wilkes. Best Southern food around. Paula's place isn't as good as it use to be as she isn't in the kitchen as much as she use to be. River House on River St is good seafood.

Pizza? Vinnie van Go-Go's in City Market. They do NOT take plastic. Cash only. Worth it all the way.

Conan,

Thanks for some of those tips from a local!! I'll definitely research some of those restaurants. We don't want anything too upscale as we have 4 kids under 10 so fancy isn't really an option for us... We need fun, relaxed atmospheres for lunches and dinners!! :) I'm still trying to find a place to rent a waverunner that isn't a tour... :S We can't do a tour as with 2 littler kids we can't get them all on 2 wave runners...

Thanks again,
Mark

The Crazy Crab in Jarvis Creek (as appose to the one in HarborTown has a sandy playground that the kids enjoyed. Although the one in HarborTown is near the worlds greatest playground... both are casual and fun.

Hello HHI Fans!

Over a year ago we bought our HHI Contract, and have since spent two nights there - but have our first week-long HHI stay this summer!

We will be taking most of our food with us as we do not plan to dine out at all to be very budget minded and to enjoy time together cooking with family and taking full advantage of the villa kitchen as well as the grills!

However, where most people buy groceries?

We cooked dinner one night and just went to the Piggly Wiggly to pick up what we needed for one meal. However, it seemed pretty pricey for what we purchased (stuff to make taco salad for 2 adults)

Has anyone done Omaha Steaks? (They had been sending me incredible coupons lately)
Other frozen meat supplier?
We won't be driving straight down, we'll be spending at least one night on the way down - possibly two nights to spend time with family friends.

We don't want to buy fresh meat at home and then put it on ice, just doesn't make sense.

Also we'll need fruits and vegetables as well and the other random odds and ends that we'll need over the course of the week.

Also, if anyone can suggest a few tour/cruise providers that would be great!

I have done a lot of research online and have found a few suggestions, but I hope to hear some personal experiences!

Thanks!
