"I Don't Wanna Meet Mickey In a Frumpin' Poncho!" An August 2011 TR! COMPLETE 11/30

OOH! I Remember reading your friends' TR where they surprised you! Cant' wait to read it from the other side!

Also, my favorite "land" at Magic Kingdom is also Main Street. I could spend all day there.

I love Panera...yum! What a delicious breakfast. Snippy workers is what happens to companies who have employees and not cast members though! I'm glad you managed to get some HP viewing in. I LOVED your tr about going to the WWoHP!! I don't know how you can watch the movies out of order. It makes me feel so discombobulated. (Is that how you spell that?) Anywho, can't wait for more!! :goodvibes

Love, love, love your trip reports and my little girl and I are diggin' your live tweets from WDW. Have a fabulous time!!

Your Disney nails are too cute! That takes some mad nail-painting skill. :worship: I think you and Jess are already back at Disney, but I hope you're having a frumptastic blast!

First, if it makes you feel better, unless I'm leaving as soon as I get up, I pack in the morning...my husband hates it because it makes him feel like we'll forget something. Granted, I have done that many times, usually my toothbrush, but the front desk has those.

Second, AP US History brings back such bad memories. It was my worst class in HS. The tests were always "which one of these is the MOST correct" and I hated it. Bless you for doing work for that class in the car. I would have thrown it out the window!!

Do you really?! Wow! That makes me feel much better! Yeah, as long as you forget something that's easily replaceable!

Ugh, it's awful. Luckily, I only have three more days of it!! Oh and trust me, I wanted to!

Your Disney nails are too cute!! The day before and travel day is so exciting!! The anticipation is almost as good as being in Disney!!

It makes me sad that your teacher is like that. ): I'm a history teacher and I like to have fun in my classroom and making the learning interesting and as easy as possible to understand. So it hurts my heart when some history teachers make it no fun and boring.

Excited to read more and see your side of this trip!

Thanks! I agree! They're so full of smiles and energy!

I can understand that. I have some really awesome and inspiring teachers, but unfortunately he is not one of them. I do enjoy many aspects of history and I don't doubt that you are brilliant!

Thanks!! :-)

I love your Disney nails! I am definitely not that talented!!

Yeah, sleep doesn't really happen on the night before Disney! Too many fun things to look forward to!!

Thanks so much! :-)

Oh not at all! I'm always too excited!!!!

Yay an update! I know what you mean about life exploding lately...things have been INSANE. I am so ready for summer vacation, as I'm sure you are!

Um, nine days until Disney? WHAT?! :hyper: I can't believe y'all are so close! I'm so excited to live vicariously through your trip to help me survive until July! Yippeeee!

I always love yours and Jess' Disney nails. I wish I could do that, but I do not have a steady hand. I would make a terrible surgeon.

My life has been especially explosive since I got home from Disney. Today I had to remind myself to breathe. I am so ready for some time off!

I hope you enjoyed our tweets and pics! I can't wait to start the trip report!!

Aww thanks! I guess we would make pretty good surgeons then...aside from the fact that blood freaks us out.

WOWZA that's early. But totally worth it on D-Day.

I have a lot of family that lives in Eerie PA! They call it "Dreary Eerie, the mistake by the lake." :lmao:

Kudos to you for doing homework on the way to Disney. I'm seriously impressed. I wish my students were that motivated!

I can't wait for more! :thumbsup2

Not for D-Day!! That's sleepin' in! :P

Hahaha that's what my family calls it too!! I have an aunt and some family friends that live there!

I don't know how I managed. I guess I knew that I should probably take advantage of that time. I'm very neurotic when it comes to budgeting my time. I'm always afraid of not having enough! I can't procrastinate. It's impossible for me.

Your Disney nails (and Jess' nails) are always the best. So jealous. I would never have the patience to do that for sure.

Oh many, doing homework in the car on the way down to Disney brings back such memories! I can't tell you how many times that was me almost all the way down. I actually wrote several of my college papers in the car on the way to Disney.

Thanks! It is VERY time-consuming.

It's just such a long ride that I had to take advantage of the spare time. I hear ya. I'll probably end up doing that too at some point.

Your nails are super cute! I like your castle light as well:goodvibes

Cant wait for your next update!

Thanks so much! Ahh so ya noticed that? My princess night light. <3 LOL I'm five...

Yeah another Frump report! I love them.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I quote you a lot around my house. (suck it up buttercup, it builds character and strength) I have 2 teenage boys, so it fits so well sometimes!

:welcome:

Thanks for reading along! I am so honored that you quote me! I love being quoteable! Thank you so much for commenting! You totally just made my day!

Subbing!!! I can't wait, you girls are SO adorable.

Aww! Thank you so much! :welcome:

Aw, so glad to see your first real update here - we used to always drive to WDW from southern IL and I remember those trips so fondly! Can't believe you have such interesting schoolwork to do. :lmao:

Love your nails - I'm with IHeartDDuck, I could never do that! Love them.

It's a long drive but the anticipation just keeps on building! LOL...NOT.

Thanks so much! :-)

I love the customized park maps! I never order those... I don't know why. They're so cute!

Yay for being on the road! woohoooo!

9 FREAKIN' DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love them! I get them every year! They're so fun. :-)

I love me some road trip!

....And we're back. But we had FUN.

Great update Kristen. :thumbsup2 Wow, I can't believe you guys drove...how long did that take?? I'm excited to see your pictures from Coronado, we're staying there in January. -Amanda

Thanks! It took about 20 hours total, but we stopped for a couple nights as you will soon see! Coronado was amazing, I can't wait to share!

Ahhhh omg, I so remember APUSH! It was torture the amount of work assigned! I remember I was going on a cruise during the spring break of the year that I took it, and OMG I had SO much homework to do on the plane. It was awful!!

But YAYYYYY Disney!! I love the day before Disney! It's so much fun, and very stressful getting everything ready! :hyper: I love your nails!! So pretty! I could NEVER do them! Oh and those maps are also soooo cool!!!

I agree with you! I barely have time to breathe! I hate doing homework on planes!! :/ I'm so glad I'm almost done with the class...

Yay! It makes everything better. :-) I love the day before! Such excitement! Thanks so much! I love the maps. :-)

Very cute nails! Love hearing about your half of the trip after already reading Jess's. Ugh, having to do homework on your Disney trip! Nothing like a nice long drive to Disney. We've had many trips where we have driven down too.

Thanks! I like driving down but the homework...not so much. :headache:

I love love love those nails! Too cute! I wish I was that creative :-)

Sounds like an exciting start to the trip, minus the APUSH work haha, I'm using that same textbook right now for US honors, and ugh, it makes me cringe!

Can't wait for more!!

Thank you!! We love doing them!

It was, minus the AP. :/ SO much hate for that book. EW.

Jumping on the TR train now!

Can't wait to hear all about your trip! (Frump reports are my favoritest kind!)

:welcome:

Thanks! They're my favorite too! Glad you're here! :goodvibes

So excited to read this! And to hear about your upcoming trip! NINE DAYS! (well that was two days ago so I guess you're down to SEVEN now!!!!!) That's soooo close!!!!!

AHHH!!! APUSH! I'm taking it this year too! Do you take the official AP tests at your school? If you do, is yours next friday too??

We had an amazing time!! And yes, the AP exam was the 11th for me, aka the morning I went to Disney. It was slightly challenging to focus but I DID IT!

HOORAY FIRST UPDATE! And yes, I did somehow miss the fact that you posted it five days ago. Apparently some things go right over MY head as well!

Love the nails! Especially the monorail (duh) and Space Mountain ones. And ANDY'S ROOM!!!

Those personalized maps are so fun. :) Although I think mine are no longer current... but still fun!

OMG how do you do homework in the car? Skills. I can't even read a book or anything because I get car sick so easily. Hooray can't wait for more!

Hahaha that's okay I miss people's updates ALL the time. It's really bad. ):

Thanks! The monorail nail is my pride and joy. <3

I love them! You can order new ones!

I have no idea...I probably had a really bad headache after a while. Ah well, what must be done must be done, I suppose.

Thanks! :-)

I can only imagine how excited you are to go back! My mom and I just got back yesterday night! It was so fun! You'll have a great time. The storybook land is so cute. :-)

I didn't realize you drove! How was it? I haven't driven since 1996! Watching movies would definetely help pass the time.

I know I say it all the time between yours and Jess's reports but I just LOVE your nails! So cute and fun. :-)

I'm so excited! And I just got home a few days ago!! I loved Storybook Circus!!

I did in August. It was great! I like how the anticipation builds as you travel more South. It's just great. :-)

Thank you so much!

OOH! I Remember reading your friends' TR where they surprised you! Cant' wait to read it from the other side!

Also, my favorite "land" at Magic Kingdom is also Main Street. I could spend all day there.

:welcome: Thanks for joining in!

Is it really!? Mine too! I just love it. So well themed and really captivating. I could as well.

Me too! It was great! Non-cast members though...shame shame. I got some good HP time in for sure! Thanks so much! I LOVE LOVE LOVED WWoHP!!! It was basically the most amazing thing EVER. And I've been hearing rumours of expansion....HECK YES!!!! I don't know how I can either...I guess I know them all so well by now that it doesn't really phase me. :P

Happy Disney Day!! I hope you and Jess have the most magical, frumptastic trip!!

Aww thank you so much! We definitely did!!! :)

Love, love, love your trip reports and my little girl and I are diggin' your live tweets from WDW. Have a fabulous time!!

Thank you SO much! It's readers like you that inspire me to write! I'm so glad you're here! And your daughter! And I'm so glad you both enjoyed my tweets! :goodvibes

Your Disney nails are too cute! That takes some mad nail-painting skill. :worship: I think you and Jess are already back at Disney, but I hope you're having a frumptastic blast!

Thank you! It's definitely very exhausting and it takes a lot of patience.

Yep, we were, but we're home now! We had a frumptastic time for sure!! :cool1:

How did I not see this trip report earlier?!

I'm here!

That's okay, glad you're here! :welcome:

Chapter 2- "Hallelujah, I'm a Travelin'..."

August 15th, 2011

Hello everyone! I am so sorry that I have been so absent, but as many of you know I just got back from another trip to the World! We had an awesome time and Jess and I can't wait to share that adventure with all of you! Thanks for hangin' in there!

Along with Disney, many other important events took place that kept me from the DIS over the last couple weeks. For example, PROM! My prom was May 4th and it was an absolute blast! And because I know you all want to see them, here's some pics from the day!

Me and Allie (princessallie) before Prom:
dscn1501d.jpg

Me and Maggie (PrincessMaggie618) before Prom:

Allie and I and our Disney-loving teacher, Mr. Sam:
dscn1528x.jpg

All the "blue" girls sans our dates...and I'm not even looking. :P Oh well..
dscn1512w.jpg

So there we are! Just some pics and people you may be familiar with from real-life updates in the past! And now, onto the trip report!

Little known fact- my chapter title is actually part of a song that the Freedom Riders sang when they were trying to integrate buses and discover what conditions were really like during the Civil Rights movement in the South. Just a little tidbit for the day! Anyway...

We stopped in West Virginia to eat lunch at around noon.

Sarah had a kid's deli sandwich and chips:

dsc03780qx.jpg

And the rest of our sandwiches:
dsc03781xb.jpg

dsc03782h.jpg

dsc03783y.jpg

Sadly I don't remember what they all were, but I do remember that they were delicious!

We hit the road again and I watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I'm so out of order...ah well. I did some more APUSH work and took a nap.

At around 5 o' clock we stopped at a Bob Evans for dinner. I don't even remember what state we were in at this point...but I do remember that our server's name was Jimmy and he was super friendly! I love Southern people. Honestly, y'all are so nice and down to earth! You get lot of stuck-up snobs in the North. It's rather unfortunate.

Here's a hungry, hungry Sarah:
dsc03793f.jpg

My mom and I ordered the most awesome peach iced tea EVER and some great, homemade chicken pot pie. :-)
dsc03785qb.jpg

dsc03801he.jpg

dsc03804se.jpg

We also got salads and biscuits with honey for the table:

dsc03792y.jpg

dsc03791yu.jpg

Scott ordered some kind of meatloaf and Sarah had mac n' cheese:
dsc03799n.jpg

dsc03798a.jpg

I know it's not Disney food, but boy was it good!

We hit the road again at about 6 and played the "Guess the capitol" game in the car. I was the only one who knew the capitol of Iowa- thank you Music Man!

Montana stumped us all, but when Sarah so matter-of-factly suggested "Hannah," we all laughed. Works for us!

I then did some more APUSH and reached my goal for the day. I watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which finished just as we pulled into the hotel at 10:15. It was a Holiday Inn Express in Georgia, near Atlanta. It was recently renovated and super nice!

Here's a shot of the lobby:
dsc03808s.jpg

We checked in and Mom made friends with the lady at the front desk because she said we were on our way to Disney. Here we goo....

After THAT "5-minute" (or 5-hour) conversation was over we lugged our luggage up to our room, which was very new-looking and modern! It kinda reminded me of the Contemporary because it had a very modern feel. It even had a kitchenette and a view of the pool!

Here's our room:

We settled in and watched "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" on Food Network. I swear, I love this show. It really got me pumped for Disney food!!

I wrote in the trip journal, took a shower and fell asleep pretty quickly. The beds were surprisingly comfy!

Coming up- a day with the family!

You’ve got another reader over here!

You look so pretty at prom! I love your dress!

We are driving to Disney this year from MA. It’s our first time so it should be really interesting.

MMMM, that chicken pot pie looks so good!

Your hotel room looks really nice! I agree, very modern!

The Best Thing I Ever Ate is so awesome. Except after watching it I'm starving. The Food Network is seriously my favorite channel.

Excited for the next update!

Chapter 3- Some Georgia Sun and Family Time

August 16th and 17th, 2011

The next morning we woke up and had the Continental breakfast at the hotel. They had the famous Passion-Orange-Guava Juice that Disney has! You may know it as either Frunch or POG juice...anyway, it was pretty good! Not Disney good, but that's to be expected.

After breakfast we went back up to the room and got ready.

imagecxaweg.jpg

We headed out to the Mall of Georgia!

imagerag.jpg

Wow. The malls around here need to step it up because that mall is seriously SO PRETTY!!! But of course I had left my camera at the hotel. :headache:

We went to JC Penny's and got Scott some shirts because he had slightly underpacked. Men...

Sarah and I left them to their shopping and roamed around. Not far away we found a DISNEY STORE!!!! We freaked out. We were seriously so excited. We don't have any Disney Stores around us anymore and it's really sad. So we spent almost an hour in that one!

I found a Mickey and Minnie shirt that I loved, so I got one for myself and one for my brother's girlfriend, Katie.

I took a pic of it once we got back to the hotel:
imageifn.jpg

We went in a few more stores and then left, because Sarah REALLY wanted to go swimming.

Scott and I chilled by the pool and stuck our feet in, but Sarah went for the plunge. Mom was even able to grab some shots from our room, where she was reading, I think.

The pool before we got there:
imagewdu.jpg

Sarah swimmin':

imagebzlz.jpg

At about noon or a little after we all came back upstairs and got cleaned up. We headed out and went to Chipotle for lunch!

I LOVE Chipotle. It's seriously my favorite counter-service (LOL) chain of non-Disney food. It's SOOO good!

The fam all got burritos and I got a burrito bowl. Just look at this goodness:
imageiey.jpg

imagetve.jpg

We got iced tea and grapfruit IZZE's, which are super good. I love the fun stuff that's written all over the cups.
imagebzr.jpg

imagezcyf.jpg

imageqky.jpg

At one point, I went to go to the bathroom and wash my hands and there was another girl waiting in front of me. It was a one-person bathroom, and she thought the door was either locked or stuck. We both tried to open it to no avail. She apparently had to go pretty bad, so she went over to the men's room door. As she went to open it, Scott came out. She then proceeded to go into the men's room. He was very confused and it was FUNNY. I then explained what was going on and he pulled the door open. Turns out, it was just stuck.

After lunch we headed to my Uncle Mark's house, as he lives in Atlanta. We hung out there for a bit and then went to their neighborhood club w/ pool after my cousins got home from school. I totally forgot that school starts earlier in the South than it does up here, so it was weird to see them with backpacks and such.

We went to the pool and had a little party. We swam, had some snacks and just enjoyed the sun. It was a very chill afternoon.

imagewrvm.jpg

Here's Sarah, Scott and Uncle Mark enjoying the water:
imagehweg.jpg

Here's me before I decided to go in:
imagealf.jpg

It's almost like I'm saying, "Hello DISers, is that you?" Always thinkin' of my DIS friends...

When my Aunt Jackie got home from work, she made dinner for all of us. We had white chicken chili, salad and rolls. It was all really good!

After dinner we went to this park/outdoor shopping district that was super cool! Sorta like Downtown Disney...only more open and with more fountains!

We went to this place called Rita's and got italian ice and ice cream. We sat around by the fountains and ate, talked and visited.

Since Julianne and Matt (my cousins) had school the next day, we said our goodbyes at around 9:30 and headed back to the hotel. We watched Chopped while we got ready for bed and we all got super into it. We love our food shows. :P I wrote in the trip journal and got to bed at around 11:30.

The next morning, we were up and getting ready at 5! IT WAS DISNEY DAY!!!

I was all decked out and ready to go:
imagezvj.jpg

We grabbed some breakfast and brought it in the car with us. We hit the road a little after 6.

imageocv.jpg

We saw a school bus on the way and it was super weird. I chose to look away. :/

Now, here's where things were a little crazy. Driving on the thruway during morning rush hour in the 2nd largest city on the East Coast was...what's the right word...TERRIFYING. My mom was a nervous wreck the whole time. But hey, at least the sunrise was pretty:
imagedcbs.jpg

Sarah and I listened to Disney music on our iPods to drown out the fear. We also looked over our customized maps! We were super excited! She took a nap after a little while and I began watching the fourth season of Full House.

We have the ever-attractive Jesse Katsopolis:

"You got it, dude."

Check out this deer face:

"This is no fun, no fun, looking at the waaalll."

After a while we stopped at the grossest rest-stop EVER in Georgia. This is me and my mom pre-scarring:

Awww it looks like you guys had fun getting to Disney! Its nice that you were able to stop and spend time with your family. Sounds like you had a fun time with them! Chapter 4- "WE'RE HERE!!!!! I mean....WE'RE HOME!!!!"

August 17th, 2011

We drove on for a little bit and I decided that it was high time I had this little beauty:
imagevkb.jpg

While I was eating, we crossed the border into Florida!!!! YAY so close!

We stopped at Starbucks and Target for no apparent reason. I believe my mom wanted coffee and needed to pick something up. I took advantage of that time to take pictures of the palm trees and what Florida Targets look like:

imagenwh.jpg

imagecbij.jpg

I did some APUSH and watched more Full House. At about 1 we stopped at Chik-Fil-A for lunch.

imagebjg.jpg

imageqzb.jpg

imagentr.jpg

It was pretty good! We don't have those up North, so it was a new experience for me.

We hit the road and ran into some nasty weather:
imageunue.jpg

No one cared though, because we were doing to Disney!!!!

Pretty soon we spotted those lovely billboards. I saw some water parks once and a DHS one with Darth Vadar on it. I knew we were getting close!!!!

Not long after that, Heaven's gates were in sight!!!
imageuse.jpg

And then...
imagedghi.jpg

ALLELUIA! ALLELUUUIAA!!!! We were HOME! YAYYY! I think we were all pretty spastic at that point.

The signs were suddenly way prettier:
imagejmo.jpg

And CSR began to appear through the trees:

Welcome Home!

Once they were finished, I picked up my first souvenirs of the trip:

Scott drove around to our building with the luggage, and the rest of us walked over and took in all the sights of CSR!

I remember when the mall opened and we went up there and i went straight to the disney store. My family did not want to have anything to do with it so they were all outside. To this day they joke about me being so involved in the store, I missed it when they meet Usher!! I was too busy in my store! O well!

Chick fil a! Loved it until we finally got one in our home town and we ate it too much. Now i only want it on Sundays! Of course that is when they are closed!

Finally, I am loving that black and white mickey shirt!

More updates!!

Palm trees. Florida. Disney World. I MISS IT SO MUCH.

I am in love with Chick-Fil-A. Best fast food ever.

The gates of heaven. The pictures are beautiful.

CSR is really pretty! I love the lights in the lobby!

Stacey! She’s just perfect.

ME TOO. And I just got back...

It's so good!

Thanks!

Me too! It's a gorgeous resort!

Welcome back!! Hope you had a great trip! How nice to give us so many updates at once.
You girls looked so beautiful in your prom dresses - loved the blue color. I tried to talk my son into going to his prom (he's a junior also) but he had no interest. I am hoping he goes next year. I guess I need daughters!
Nice stop in Georgia - I LOVE Rita's! Their gelati is my favorite.
CSR is gorgeous!! I have never seen it in person. I definitely think I will have to try it one of these days.
16 more days til I'm there:cool1:
