We were just there the week of April 15th and were asked to show our room key on a couple days at the pool and issued wrist bands. We were always able to find a seat in the afternoon and I think this made a big difference. I wish they would do it all the time

:thumbsup2 That's great! Hopefully they will get some feedback and enforce it more often! :goodvibes

Re: Pool hopping. I just don't understand why people think its okay. I don't order a salad at a restaurant then go walk up to someone else's table and eat their lobster! :confused3

:rotfl:

Hi mmmears! :thumbsup2 I agree....fight and vacation don't mix, I'd probably mention it on the sly to a lifeguard or CM....only if I heard them blatantly bragging about swimming in the pool and staying elsewhere....I just hope its not overly crowded in Oct :)

Hi! :) When we were there, we couldn't see anyone enforcing it. In fact, we did quietly speak to the lifeguards about people smoking in the pool area (no where near the smoking section) and they seemed reluctant to deal with that issue. Don't know what they would have done if we had talked to them about the pool hoppers. IMO the wristbands are the way to go!

I totally agree on the pool "room check" thing. We are staying at the YC this time and a good part of the reason is that they strictly check room IDs before letting people even sit around SAB. I love the Poly, especially the volcano pool area with the beach, lake, and castle views, but I am tired of fighting for a place to sit with people who obviously (we could hear them talk about it) weren't staying at the Poly. :sad2:

I'm at the Poly now. Last night before going home :( Pool is closed right now for "chemical imbalance"... Anywho, perfect time for pictures & as I was walking around I heard about 6 families talking about how they were going to go back to their hotel. Mostly values & even off site! They really need to start carding people as this pool was super busy today!! Even heard a couple families say they would go over to Cont to swim since this one is closed!

It would really help with the capacity if they started requiring the showing of IDs.

Other than this, having a great time!

I have reported people in the pool that don't belong. With results. Y'all are right! They come with bags, snacks, and change of clothes. I really think they come mostly in the afternoon to swim then watch our movie on the beach and wishes. Hmmm... That sounds like a great plan! I could stay in a value hang around a deluxe resort and let everyone else pay for it! :headache:

It really bothers me that this is allowed to happen!

Most DVC members are respectful and aren't coming to the pool with snacks and a change of clothes! So come on DVC visit us and let us in on the "best kept secret" at Disney! :lmao: :rotfl:

Hey we can join forces! We are arriving same day! Hmmm I wonder if I can get there before you! :rotfl2: we are arriving at 2p!

DD's bday party was a huge success! She got a ton of Disney GC!!!

Now, we will just have to make it through 2 more days of work to surprise her with the trip!!

For anyone that has been recently, did you hear allot of noise at the Poly from the construction on the GF DVC? Specifically, around the pool and beach areas?

Hello to All,
This will be the first trip back to WDW in over 10 years. We hope to stay at the Poly. It will be our fist stay there.
We plan to take our four year old granddaughter November 11-15th. This will be her first trip to WDW. It will also be my husband's 62nd birthday during our stay.

I have a couple of questons I hope someone will be kind enough to offer an answer or some helpful information.

Does WDW typically offer a free dining plan during this time period? If so, when to the offers begin? Do you get them through a special mailing or should I call WDW directly to inquire?

Also, considering we will have the little one with us, could anyone suggest the best longhouse for overall convenience (monorail, dining, etc.)?

Thank you!

I don't think there is usually free dining that late into the fall, but WDW does sometimes have room discounts at that time of year (with certain black out dates). When you're staying at a deluxe if it's a good enough discount the room only discount usually works out to a better deal than free dining (then they just let you add the tickets & dining plan on). Keep an eye on the DIS for the offers (they currently have stuff up to the end of September, so fall discounts aren't out yet). WDW will also advertise them directly on their website and you could also subscribe to mousesavers. They will email subscribers when new discounts are announced.

You can try to get a PIN. They don't seem to be sending them out as frequently as they used to, but it can't hurt to try. Register with disneyworld.com. Then play around in the reservation system, save a few offers, etc. This will sometimes trigger them to send you a discount code. Just be careful to check the fine print on any email you get from Disney Destinations. It may contain a discount offer. And even if it mentions a specific category of hotel (eg. moderate) the discount can usually be applied to a different category, just call and ask. Good luck!

If you plan on booking garden view (GV) Samoa might be a nice choice to request with your granddaughter. It is very close to the Grand Ceremonial House (GCH) where you will find the monorail platform, restaurants and shops. It also over-looks either the volcano pool or the quiet pool depending which side you get. Happy planning!

Loved, loved, LOVED the Polynesian. It was our first trip to Disney and while we don't really have anything to compare to, I can't fathom how any other resort could be better. The pool, the location, the monorail, the tropical feel. It was so great to come back from the park and relax at the Polynesian.

One thing, the pool got quite crowded at some points and the lifeguards went around to those sitting at the few tables around the pool and asked everyone for room keys. MOST people got up and left. I heard one woman declare that she had no idea that other hotel's guests couldn't use the pool. Really???

We stayed Club level, and with two picky kids, it was well worth the money. Plus mousekeeping left some stellar towel animals.

I'll post some pics on the next post. We cannot WAIT to go back!!

I'm with everyone - it gets really irritating having people at the pool that take up space and chairs that aren't supposed to be there. I wish they would wristband more often. If I think someone might be there when they aren't supposed to, I would totally say something to the lifeguards BUT I am on vacation and don't have a desire to be the tattle tale or do the Poly's job for them. Well, you all know I love the Poly but this certainly gets me bothered - so wristband already!

Yep just not the hummer!! We just have a regular limo to the airport and a regular limo to the poly. We usually get the party bus to the airport.

Oh, ONLY a regular limo :snooty: :rotfl2:

Haha! :rotfl: I wish! We aren't staying at the Poly this time, but I am sure we will miss it... And I'm coming in from the West Coast, so no early arrival for us...

Tikiman is reporting on his website today that Disney plans on closing in all of the pool areas and only allowing access to registered guests because of the abuse. I can't imagine the volcano pool enclosed. It will completely ruin the atmosphere/effect. Wouldn't consitently checking ID's and wristbanding be a heck of a lot cheaper and easier?! I will be so disappointed if this turns out to not just be a rumour.

He also says that they are going to install a hot tub at the end of the year (didn't specify which pool)

Regarding the pool hopping... did anyone else read the Tikiman's new update? He is saying all Disney pools are going to be enclosed in the future and that the Volcano pool is getting a hot tub. Work may begin at the end of this year :confused3

dvc member since 1999. im going to be swimming in your pool. :wave2:
im staying there on cash so dont beat me up. i did get an ap discount if thats ok. :lmao:
i dont even use the pools, but i agree with everyone. if you dont belong there, get out! im not up on pool rules but i thought pool hopping was between the dvc resort pools not all the pools on property. i could be wrong but thats the way i took it 13 years ago.
ps, watch them dvcers, they will pee in your pool! its in there bylaws.:lmao::lmao:
